I do like that idea. I mainly hope that next year we see an entire wave of pirates including small sets so I can build up. A bunch of smaller ships could fit in nicely with a harbor. Anyone know when info for the winter wave starts to come out?

I do enjoy reading your posts. You have a far greater nack for explaining this stuff than I do. -
ReBrick "Name the Ship" Contest - and the WINNER IS...

Tempest in a teapot. I believe rational people can distinguish the difference. Not to mention the fact that pirates were essentially the same as pirates today, ruthless killers who stole for a living. I find it highly doubtful that mutiny on the bounty is fresh on the minds of anyone and even if mentioned would either be viewed in a historical context or be unknown. I guess TLG should stop selling bounty hunters as well? I mean if the word bounty is that toxic the whole Star Wars world is surely going to collapse. -
You also have consider that some times the stores have these items as well. I know I have found discounted sets tucked away in the back that had long since been sold out online. I also know that it will say sold out once a set has been paid for but not processed. TLG has taken steps to reduce resellers and some times orders get cancelled because while the system may automatically accpet an order a review could reserve a sale. But TLG is hardly the only retailer that does this. Amazon is a great example of have who knows how many listings of items that have long since sold out. Because despite the item being unavailable you can still obtain information about the item. It is no different than to a movie theater and seeing a sign that says sold out, giving the customer some information so they can make an intelligent choice. Or asking a sales clerk at a store if they have any more of an item, and they helpfully informing you of its availabilty. Because if you know something is not available you would probably stop looking for it and buy something else. The idea that TLG is toying with their customers be placing fake sale prices seems a bit obsurd. Just spend some time on the site brick picker and you will find people who check sites constantly looking for sale prices. It's not unknown the TLG always puts sets on sale starting at midnight and anything half way decent is going to instantly sell out. Usually the only time TLG puts sets on sale is to clear out inventory so if you are waiting for those deals you are already missing out.

The first rumor I hope with all my heart is true. As for the second I find it extremely unlike to ever happen. And frankly I don't see the reason why it would be necessary. I'll admit I'm not a PT fan but the new trilogy is going to make it ancient history in a galaxy far, far away.

Winter Village Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Darth Punk replied to Gearslover01's topic in LEGO Town
The lights are hanging from the building. Plus people complained last year about how the lamp posts kept changing design wise. I was thinking this could be good place for children to come to see Santa. Just need an appropriate seat for Santa to sit on. Children could see and pet the reindeer and climb on santas sleigh. Milk and cookies for all. -

The black barracuda would have been better. -
My exact point. There have been a good deal of discussions about things that probably won't end up in sets. No one person get to pick and choice which gets discussed just because of they are bored by it.
-
This topic is called Lego Hobbit 2014 which I view as encompassing the game and it's possible set connections. So people can talk about the game or not, and I don't see how anyone can pick or choice which of the game items to discuss. Be it minfigs with or without armor, wind lances, axes etc....

I really liked Von Sydow in Minority Report. It's a good example of what kind of villain he can play.
-
I agree Max Von Sydow would make an excellent Sith Lord type character. He was in Exorcist and Minority Report, probably the most well known movies to those here.
-
They might just be using it because it's a very iconic shot. I would love a cloud city set as well, be great to get one later this year, though next year seems more likely.
-
For fans of the new arctic City sets here is an interesting article. http://www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-27129690 The worlds largest icebreaker from a city near London, who would have ever guessed?

I think andythenorth was being facetious. I like this set. Not sure if I love it but I could see having fun with the kids with a set like this. And could be modified slightly to fit into a winter carnival scene. As Ceaser said in history of the world. Part 1, nice, nice, not thrilling but nice.

I think it makes perfect sense to do away with he EU entirely. This was going to happen regardless of who made the next trilogy since Lucas already has story lines for them. What other options were there otherwise? Keep everything, including the very badly written stories? Or pick and choose some of the highlights and hope it works with your intended direction? While the second option is doable it really boxes you in and limits the creative process. Plus any deviation will only result from people complaining that it doesn't match up exactly, even when that may not be possible. This way they can still pick and choice what they like but are not tied down by absolutes. Ever do any remodeling? Sometimes you save things, other times you,rip everything out and start fresh so you can have a better foundation for the direction you want to go. You can keep some elements but you then can shape them to fit your process rather than having to fit everything the few items you want to keep. Like many others have said the EU isn't being erased from the planet, it's just not being used to define the next trilogy. You can still enjoy it and if you have some patience you may find parts you enjoy on the big screen. For me I really look toward to seeing the continuation of OT, something I didn't think would ever happen. I get to relive my childhood memories and I don't think that would be entirely possible if the EU was the defining factor for the next trilogy.

In this context is does since it's the title of Bilbos's book encompassing the entire hobbit book. His journey to the mountain and back to the shire. I'm not a big fan of the battle title either, but there really isn't anything else left in the book to tell except for the journey home. So unless Jackson makes up a great deal more material the last movie was obviously going to be mainly about the battle. Thought I would add that if the title doesn't imply an end then is should be able to be used as the title for the first movie. But it doesn't work because it seems as though it's just a single movie and not a trilogy. A journey and an ending. The last movie has an ending, but only for awhile. Thus the pivot and continuation on to TLoR, linking the trilogies together. The battle of the five armies actually is an added movie, expanding the scope of the Hobbit from more of an epilogue to a trilogy that has equal weight to TLoR(cinematically I wouldn't agree, TLoR is far superior). Thus the need to have a better flow and not have it seem the story ends with the third hobbit movie. All that being said i do like the title there and back again and as someone mentioned we will probably see it again as an overall title. I could imagine a box set including both trilogy with the first half being called there and back again and the second called TLoR. In that contest it makes perfect sense and the ending of the return of the king ties it all together nicely.
-
They don't want you think its the end. Because in the timeline The Lord of the Rings is next. I'm sure we will see foreshadowing during Bo5a to TLoR and is the perfect time to promote the trilogy once again. And knowing Warner Bros. we will eventually see collector editions of both trilogies packaged together. At the end of The Return of the King Frodo adds his addition of the TLoR to Bilbos's TABA and I could easily see in the end Jackson and Warner Bros. wanting to do the same with the movies.

I wouldn't consider the word of a store employee as confirmation. Especially given how guarded TLG has become about when a set is going to retire. It's not unusual for a store to deplete its stock to make way for newer product. A store only has so much room to display and inventory while online it's a very different story. Yes all these sets will retire, I can confirm that myself. But without inventory numbers or specific time period this doesn't really tell us any more than we already know.
