  1. The Schaumburg store is usually pretty good and the manager there is helpful. I think before it was mainly based on what the manager could get a hold of which some times it could be good. The whole mainstreaming the stores is surely going to limit some of the rarer pieces that could some times be found. Customer service after all is everything.
  2. I have certainly heard other people complain about walmart slapping labels onto lego boxes. Even for in-store pickup, which might only matter if you are wishing to keep the box or perform other activities. There is no consistence and thus you are taking a bit of a risk. If I received a package like that I would take it to the store and exchange it for an undamaged box. Just say its a gift.
  3. Not officially no. LotR, LOTR, LR and L.R.(used by Tolkien) would be generally used acronyms. I've been using TLoR for 20+ years and have no idea where it comes from. Visually I've always found it more interesting. Just one of thoses things I guess.
  4. I've been blocking that out, lol. But I do relalize there is a high probability that the TLoR is done. I'm just trying to keep a positive attitude, otherwise known as self-delusion.
  5. Nice to see that there are those who know more about marketing princesses than Disney. Obviously TLG is making a huge mistake having a line without conflict. Just look at the friends line, no villains and it's an utter disaster. They should surely generalize it so it's more in line with city sets. Rapunzel really needs some fire flick missiles. Girls are all about conflict, which is which evil Barbie with her death rays are flying off the shelves. Girls are burning their doll houses and demanding army bunkers instead. Riots are breaking out in the pink aisles as we speak. Clearly TLG's billion dollar is about to collapse under the weight of these six sets. Their other 34 lines available online is not providing enough choices. Marketing to girls is obviously the problem and needs to stop. Please call TLG now before it's too late!
  6. That's a good deal of dough for a short piece of bread.
  7. Oh I agree, I buy most my sets from Amazon. But this is for someone who is coming from overseas and may not want to deal with having packages delivered to their hotel. But it is a viable option.
  8. I wouldn't dawdle too much when the third wave comes out. After seeing the last harry potter wave evaporate so quickly it's no telling how much longer is left on the license. Plus there is going to be at least one new pirate set coming out next year so we may see the third wave move off the shelves as quickly as the second wave. Though the third waves has the potential to be the best while the second is probably the worst.
  9. The Lego movie has had an obvious impact on TLG's operations this year. Not only in terms of production, including delays in winter wave, but also on shelf space. The movie sets near me take up a good deal of space leaving virtually no room for other lines. Placing another line in an already busy year with no direct ties doesn't necessarily make sense. Next year has always seemed most likely the best time to release a third wave. The studio is going to be busy tieing the two trilogies together and we probably will see movie sets with all six movies. That is really the time to take advantage of a renewed interest in TLoR as some who missed it the first time will want to continue on from the hobbit. TLG is looking at the big picture and another wave of TLoR may not have any place. I'm sure we will have a much better sense by the fall.
  10. You can also check Target. The one by me has a much greater selection and the prices are comparable to walmart. Something else to consider is both stores' online websites allow you to buy and ship to a store. So if you know the exact stores nearby you can check the inventory and prices before you come and if they don't have the sets you want at thoses exact stores the pick up in store option would be your best bet.
  11. There are rumors floating about concerning a new ucs falcon. My guess if there is one it will be released next year in conjunction with the new movie and might reflect any changes that have occurred to the falcon. Seems we will be getting a slave 1 ucs this year.
  12. Ok, now show the research that tells who ends up hired, where and at what pay scale. Hard to build a set when half the bricks are missing.

  14. I think the answer may be no. http://www.hothbrick...ve-im-going-in/ The line-up revealed by Hasbro is as follows: 2014: Star Wars Rebels (animated series) 2015 Episode VII 2016 Boba Fett ( Spin-off ) 2017 Episode VIII 2018 Solo ( Spin-off ) 2019 Episode IX 2020: Red Five ( Spin-off or new animated series ? ) Interesting news if true.
  15. My biggest problem with people like Anita Sarkeesian is they take an all or nothing approach. There is the world we want and the world we live in. Blaming toy companies seems misplaced since a great deal of choices are driven by the parents. There is a reason the pink aisles exist in places like target. Changes are not going to happen overnight and TLG seems to be moving the right direction. Funny thing is that a few years ago a set like this probably wouldn't have gotten the support needed to pass. The friends line has garnered the attention of many who make a set like this possible and will make it successful. And that is how you create change by getting people's attention and starting a dialogue. Not by beating them over the head. I think the success of the friends line has stifled a good deal of the criticism. And I also think this is a set that was going to happen soon or later based on TLG's direction.
  16. PJ has stretched the Hobbit so much over three movies a dragon could fly through its holes.
  17. I'm not sure what you mean by shifty-ness. There could easily be on going negotiations the license holders could be engaging in with TLG and/or any other company. Such negotiations are held in secret and often prevent the parties involved from divulging any information including that said negotiations are even taking place. I think that the issue is that people are being exposed to a process which is usually hidden from plain sight. Licenses can be highly complex, involving many parties and ruled by contracts that spell out many things including what can or cannot be said. A simple answer as no thank you or not at this time could have been giving to TLG in response to inquiries. TLG,may simply not want to give an answer to prevent burning any bridges because as we have seen with dr. Who things can change. TLG made a specific statement about dr. Who because if I remember correctly a previous statement on the Cuusoo site had stated Dr. Who was previously unavailable for licensing.
  18. While I understand your point I wouldn't necessarily agree with it. Maybe if the set was solely for girls then perhaps the set would be definined by its driving force. Instead I see this as a set that not only speaks to little girls that says they can enjoy dinosaurs and become scientists but also to boys. That girls, can enjoy the same things as they do and aspire to the same careers. I think that is important in achieving the goal of equality that the conversation is not wholly one sided. That it's just as ok for girls to play with boy minifigures as it is for boys to play with girl minifigs. As much as I like the friends line and we have many of the sets it is a little off putting to some due to the doll like minifigs and colors of the bricks. This set eliminates thoses obstacles and does a better job to delivery the message to everyone. Both are important to overcoming inequality as there is not one magic answer. And I also feel this is a good start that can be expanded into a variety of TLG's lines. I also agree with the name change and it does a great job of disarming the political side that can often cloud the overall message.
  19. I agree completely. My oldest daughter loves science and will be very excited by this set. So this is a "feminist" set because it has three women and no men? If so what does that make sets with only men in them? Funny how a set with three women seems to stir up trouble around here. If things were equal no one would give the gender a second thought.
  20. Are all the pickabrick walls now the same? I thought I remember reading how they were going to make all the stores uniform.
  21. Brickpicker is reporting 75060 USC slave 1 $199.99. Not entirely sure how accurate they are and requires a login to see. http://www.brickpicker.com/forum/index.php/topic/10156-new-exclusives-ucs-tumbler-ucs-slave-i-mini-cooper-exo-suit-and-more/
  22. I see that brick picker is reporting the santas workshop is going to be $69.99. http://www.brickpicker.com/forum/index.php/topic/10156-new-exclusives-ucs-tumbler-ucs-slave-i-mini-cooper-exo-suit-and-more/ Also has the ucs set prices. Requires login to view.
  23. I wouldn't worry too much about resellers. Eventually many are going to have all these sets that no one will buy. The market will always correct itself. Be it houses, comics, beany babies, baseball cards, etc... Just spend a bit,of time reading brick picker and you see a plethora of people buying up sets like they are gold. But with every boom comes a bust. Not to say legoes wouldn't still be valuable, but the margins will be too thin for people to bother so they will move on to the next latest and greatest thing.
  24. Thanx. I couldn't remember if there were any specific toy fairs in the late summer or early fall that usually showcase the winter wave. I know the hobbit will show up at sdcc, but beyond that I can't recall anymore.
