  1. I would say post a pic in here, and give it its own topic maybe tag it {CFA} (Cotton for Avalonia) That is cool, just trying to keep a lot of interest going in the guild and out of the guild. I know some of you have to fill your need for tasks through LCC...
  2. Unless my mind has betrayed me here, I believe we are allowing 3rd party after market items -- IE non direct competitors to Lego. Brick Forge and Brick Warriors should be fine.
  3. Very cool, you did well with the limits of blue pieces. I keep feeling as if one more shade of blue may have helped vary things a bit, but really that is just nitpicking. Great job.
  4. Kabel and I still have not settled on this, but most likely it will be a parts pack.
  5. It is the gate to the East for Avalonians, it is the Entrance to Kaliphlin. It used to be an Avalonian city, that is the origin of the name :) More to come about Eastgate... probably tomorrow after I finish the build. Oh yeah... more challenges ahead in the next week.
  6. Kaliphlinites - First order of business, I know we had more than three entries for Oil for Mitgardia challenge, but I could only find Mike S's, Kai's, and Gideon's. So, whoever I am missing, please let me know so I can set up a voting thread. Yeah, I know, I am like 2 months late on this. These three (and the other entries) now have earned membership into the Order of the External Flame, Kaliphlin's humanitarian agency in Mitgardia. The voting will be for the title of "Heating Oil Czar of Kaliphlin." NEW CRISIS!!!! NEW MINI-CHALLENGE! Plague in Avalonia! Word has it that plague has spread in Avalonia, now is the time for the brothers and sisters of Kaliphlin to come together and send supplies to the plague-ridden lands of the West. Kaliphlin Cotton, while perfect for bed sheets and mummy wraps, can also be used to make superb bandages. Plague victims often have skin irritations and boils that must be bandaged to prevent further damage, and thus Avalonia will need many bandages. Unfortunately, the dead are also in need of linen, as bodies are often wrapped in large bandaging cloth before burial. Many trading companies have agreed to send their overstock at low prices to Avalonia to help in their time of need. However, the excess delivery needs demands that non-scheduled trips must be made to the region by individuals that would like to help. If you do not have cotton of your own to take to Avalonia, you may pick a load up from GEAR Co.'s Barqa warehouse for transit. Please remember to use protective clothing when in Avalonia. THE CHALLENGE: By May 1st (anywhere in the world) post a MOC of Kaliphlinites providing Avalonians with bandages. It can be by sea, by river, by giant eagle, by teleport, just get them some cotton bandages! The MOC can be of any size, and does not have to include your sig fig. The only requirement is that it depicts a Kaliphlinite delivering bandages to an Avalonian aid agency or individual in need. The winner of this mini-challenge will earn the title "Cotton Transport Czar of Kaliphlin." We will let all Kaliphlinites vote for the winner. Everyone who participates in this humanitarian effort will be considered part of the Order of the Green Tree, Kaliphlin's humanitarian agency in Avalonia . Brothers and sisters, with our good fortunes, we can not sit by while other Historicans suffer, get those cotton transports moving!
  7. That looks like a good idea. We could have a offsite map that we can all access, and then NM can come back once in a while and update the official map. This would make his (volunteer!) job much easier I think. I know he is a busy guy as it is.
  8. Awesome job! It is very original, and looks good in our community build!
  9. That would be interesting. They could do a smugglers of the Gulf and have the crumbling Spanish empire as the other force. The next year they could throw in Davey Crockett like Americans taking over Louisiana hahaha.
  10. I completely disagree. The show was excellent in my opinion, other than they never really got to the main plot -- I think that is because they were renewed before the show even aired, and in the middle of filming. I think most of what was portrayed in the show was a good example of Nassau/ Tortuga /Port Royal like life. Some of the plot was a little far fetched, but it also wasn't meant to be straight action. There was a lot of character development and politics, so it had more legs than a one off adventure movie. I think this was one of the best dialogued shows on pay cable, so I am not sure what you meant by poor writing. I do think they should have had 12 episodes instead of 8, so the back end didn't feel all squeezed together, but I think there was a good amount of mystery, character development, and action in this series. Additionally, the ship battles were pretty good, although i don't think much throat biting went down.
  11. I haven't really been paying attention, Brickfiesta is in San Antonio this year? I really should have gone last year when it was only 45 minutes away -- but they had it on my wife's birthday. It was a hard sell. I might make it down to San Antonio though this year. I almost had the dates right to go to Philly too (getting back to the original post), but I will be there a week later.
  12. Do you know the cause of rock formations like that? I ask because I think we have established that the outer islands of the inland sea are somewhat volcanic. However, that was the southern islands. These could be in the North. Additionally, there is that small island chain that is south of the Inland Sea and west of Gorr. Those could perhaps hold these? Or the southern Island below Gorr like you said. Or I suppose these could even be near where the Rakath Mountains meat the sea.
  13. Man, where will Ettu go next? Great MOCs, the downhill sled has got to be one of my favorite snow MOCs.
  14. I think those are deck pieces from the pirate juniors ship?Awesome ship! I like the feel of it, definitely Kaliphlin! The figs are great too. Overall a solid entry! The shipbuilders of Eastgate hope that she brings you luck, safety, and profit throughout a long life of service.
  15. Very cool, I would have most likely used that for elf armor in my elf army... but I will definite have to pick up one of those dudes to make a new Masa.
  16. Awesome! Just when I had built a workable Masa too... hahahaha. What is that body and legs?
  17. Wow! Great work here, I like the use of the sideways studs for texture, that is not used often around here. I just passed up on buying a bunch of those gold round slopes, thinking I probably could not find a use for them. After seeing your build, I wish I had not. That detail looks tremendous! Everything is beautiful here! I recently found my herd of elephants... I am very jealous of that build and may ask you to share the technique.
  18. Welcome to the guilds Beorthan, may our trade connections be fruitful for both parties.
  19. Logan is brilliant. I would like to see how you positioned him that way. Very cool
  20. I didn't even know those pieces came in gold! This is a great doc moc! I like the tiny skiff too. Not all boats come in "big" haha. Great scene! Are you keeping these modules assembled and attaching them, or are you taking pictures and threading them together later? I am plotting out Eastgate right now, and trying to decide if I should do it modular like this and Kabel's city. Also, really cool to see Dugal there!
  21. I didn't mean to come off as picking on you for saying this -- I just keep reading it from a lot of people, and was a little shocked when I saw it from you, since in the past you have been one of the strongest builders and most active at times.
  22. Good points, I only changed a few things around, but mostly used what you had written. LV, I will get some more links up there this weekend. I left Warlords out because it was nocty only, but I can get it in there.
  23. I really don't see why people keep saying that the storyline is complicated. Not much has really happened since you left off, Legonardo. There was a civil war in Nocturnus, you participated in that. Nothing much has happened since.
  24. Very cool, I like your sigfig in all these different situations. Very cool. (no pun intended). The ice bergs look perfect.
