Raising the Dead Part IV: Preparing the Potion. If you missed the beginning: Slaughter at Sultan's Rock Raising the Dead Part I Collecting the Pieces Raising the Dead Part II Retracing our steps Raising the Dead Part III Family Heirloom DSC_0890 by skaforhire, on Flickr After gathering all the pieces needed to cast the spell to bring Dugal Back, the heroes stood upon a lonely beat up watchtower near the spot of Dugal’s death, just outside of Queenscross a few miles. DSC_0883 by skaforhire, on Flickr “Excellent, the spear that killed Dugal has been melted down in this vile, and the potion to open the door to the underworld is completed in this vile. “ Masa said, “What is the last step Yesil?” The Grelf nodded towards Sultan’s rock, a large cliff formation in to the west. “Go to the the exact spot of his death, we must. On ground pour two vile, we will do.” “Well, we are burning daylight – let’s do this!” Paulos said. DSC_0894 by skaforhire, on Flickr “I must caution you that this would be a terrible idea.” Came a voice from behind them. Paulos, Sergio, Merith, Yesil, and Masa turned around to see a somewhat familiar face. “You are a long way from the Withered Wood, Lord Cresentthorn.” Said Paulos. “How the heck did you get up here without using the door?” said Sergio. Two of his guards silently hopped up over the wall of the tower. “We elves hold many secrets.” Al’Meter Cresentthorn said. Al’Meter was the leader of the Cresenthorn Elves. – one of the larger groups of elves in Kaliphlin, and longtime trading partners with GEAR Co. “As I said, you should not do this.” Al’Meter removed his hood. “You risk opening up something terrible.” DSC_0896 by skaforhire, on Flickr “We are brinigng back Dugal” Merith said, “ there is nothing terrible about that.” “But it may not only be Dugal that you bring back. If you open that gate, it may stay open.” Al’Meter said. “You may let in things long dead that Historica has not seen in eons. At this point Yesil interjected. “ Lived long I have, and to exist I know this magic. Seen it work, I have, and nobody except the intended deceased came back. Herh herh herh.” “Do not make the mistake of thinking you are the only ancient being on this watchtower.” Al’Meter said as the sun beat down on his white hair. “ Grelves and elves may have parted ways long ago, but we know of the same sort of magics. This is a kind of magic that is dead to Historica, and should remain dead.” Yesil was silent, but Masa took the initiative. “I believe we need Dugal back, and we can deal with the consequences. “ “You do not know what you are saying. You have much to learn young immortal.” Al’Meter said. “However, short of summoning my brother Arcannon to dispatch all of you, I do not think there is a way to dissuade a lost love, a mourning brother, and a pack of loyal friends. “ He looked at Masa, “I will accompany you to the spot and observe.” As they made their way down the steps of the watchtower, Sergio said to Paulos: “ I do not think Arcannon is even alive any more, but do you think that he would have called him here if he was?” Merith spoke from behind them, “Who is Arcannon?” Paulos said, “Arcannon was the legendary fighter, thought to be one of, if not the, greatest elven fighter of all time. It is said that he perished during the War to Forge Historica. His blood was used to forge the Kings Scepter. I am pretty sure he is dead… And no, I do not think Al’Meter would waste his brother’s time on us.” They made their way to Sultan’s Rock, where a makeshift shrine to Dugal was lain. Masa didn’t bring any ceremony to the ritual, he walked up and poured the two vials together on the spot where Dugal had died. The earth began to rumble. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A few more shots of the scene: DSC_0899 by skaforhire, on Flickr The tower, DSC_0885 by skaforhire, on Flickr Kaliphlin guards (who were kicked out of their watchtower for this meeting) catch a nap under the makeshift shelter (Yeah, that could have been done better, but my tent fell apart. that the Heroes brought. Book II - Kaliphlin: Guild sign-up and Discussion
SkaForHire replied to SkaForHire's topic in Guilds of Historica
DM: Great to hear from you, as long as you haven't sold off all your blocks and gone into a dark age :P I hope your father gets well soon, and I know early career can be tenuous (I wish I could get out of the stage myself!). Keep on fighting the good fight, and make sure to convert the g/f to Lego!!! RBC, an approximation of Flagg is fine when representing him. As for rules, there are no major rules. Unless SI-MOCs comes back to the project any time soon, I think we are assuming that Dex is mostly ruling Kaliphlin through the council and doesn't come out in public often. However, as long as you didn't plan to kill him off or make him commit some sort of major crime, I am sure you can use him in your MOC. -
I think the Drow had something to do with it.

At the turn of the century (ok, just fun to say that now) we spent months playing BGII in my basement on a LAN network... Great game, always fun to save and then try to roll the townspeople! haha. I bought the enhanced edition a few months back, and sadly, I just could not get into it again. -
Lego is for deconstruction. The painful part for me was watching him lay in the middle of the pieces... man that had to hurt. Can't wait to see what you all do with those pieces next.

You all have middle sized cups? I am like Gideon, I can't stop buying big cups... well until my wife says "that's enough!" At our discovery center (little Lego "theme parks" in malls ran by Merlin Entertainment instead of Lego) they don't have the normal cups at all, they have slurpie cups with the dome lids, but the nice thing about those is that you can bend the sides to get larger pieces in. Although they never have the best piece selection. -

I must have been on honeymoon when you posted that, that is awesome! So many elves! The Cresentthorn elves of the Withered Wood wish they were as organized (Slowly still building the army...) -
+1 for trade and law. I am on the fence about wooden walls though. I agree, that a more uniform wall would look better. Although, I also suppose that it would depend on the substance the wall was made of exactly. I like the roof though.

I think anything dark works. Sometimes I use the Ninjago black "whatever those creatures are" heads. The plain black heads in hoods are pretty cool looking. -
I haven't opened mine, but besides Hull, masts, and sails, I am not sure the usefulness of the set. But the figs look great.

Yes, Bricklink is probably the best way to get what you want, unless you can find it in a Lego Store on the PAB wall. When you are searching, I usually search by store location after I narrow down the part, because the shipping can be pretty high internationally.

Great build(s) everyone! If I ever get ahead in my work schedule, I should have 3 or 4 new builds coming in the next few weeks. -
This is fantastic, definitely one of the best dragons I have ever seen! I love the story behind it too. I am sure we could scrape up some Drow if you need some live target practice.

Book II - Mitgardia: Guild sign-up and Discussion

Oh centuries old tradition? That's cute, Kaliphlin has Millenniums of tradition! We can let you borrow some culture if you need it, we have pick a brick cups full of it. GEAR Co. has been firmly against the Drow from the beginning, we even used germ warfare upon them! (my very first Historica post). I am not so sure what is happening in Mpya Stedor, DM is AWOL right now and many of his troops are occupying Eastgate. I like that you saw his shipment though, that was pretty funny. Like Angeli needs more transparent pieces!!! -

Kaliphlin. We are simply the best. But, no, in Book II, the guild v. guild challenges are the minor challenges and free builds. While the main challenges are about larger groups of builders driving story. We have already talked about Book III going back to the way Book I was, with guild v. guild competition. I think the original intent was to change it up a little in Book II, just in case the community did not grow it is easier to pit two sides against each other than four uneven sides. However, I think the project has proven that it will continue to grow (It will never be as popular as Chal I of Book I, but it is definitely alive.)

I have a bunch of sail cloth I got years ago from a craft store, it is fairly inexpensive. That is how I put the sail on the Loki. I usually try to cut them in a trapezoid, but often medieval ships had actual "square" square sails, so I think anything goes. The lanteen (triangular) sail is actually less common in the medieval ships, but would make sense with Kaliphlin's Arabic-like background.

As you are a Mitgardian, I am surprised you could have read it anyway. Besides, as long as you are buying the paper, we don't care what you do with it. Yeah its all in good fun. -

Kaliphlin Times, the most respected newspaper in all the world, reports that the source of the story was none other than one of the crew members of the Mitgardian vessel Fishmonger's Wife. He was bragging about their exploits in a bar. Of course, if you want to make these kind of arguments, who is to say the "pirates" that were found in Mitgardia were from Kaliphlin? -

Maybe, there are a lot of sheep up there to distract them. I guess we will see. Mitgardia does have a builders advantage though, at least twice as many builders as we have. -

By dagger, I suppose you mean Mitgardian waraxe used to take the lives of innocent and defenseless Sea Elves? -
I am not sure Royal works, since Mitgardia isn't technically a kingdom unto itself; but, it could be remnants from an earlier age I suppose. R could stand for Regional navy, as in Mitgardia Regional Navy.
