{WotB} Contest + Field Piece and Siege Engine Registry
SkaForHire replied to SkaForHire's topic in Guilds of Historica
Result show for the Field Piece competition: All runner ups can take on a personal title as "Gunnery Sergeant of Eastgate," since we had so many fantastic designs. Honorable mention goes to Gideon, for an excellent and unique design. The Master Gunnery Sergeant of Eastgate title goes to Garmadon, for two excellent little field pieces in non-LDD form. The LDD winner and Artillery Captain of Eastgate title goes to Jakon. IT was a hard decision, so my brother made the call to split the category between LDD and non-LDD. We are going to try to make at least one model from each builder and get them onto the field. If we can't make something that represents the builder's vision, we will not field it. Remember, the Siege Engine portion of the contest will continue until July 30th, so let's see some entries!- 9 replies

SO awesome, we are going to try to build at least one. Oddly, I might not have the tops of the barrel for it.

This one is going to be harder for us to build, but it is very cool. We will see if one pops up on the battlefield.- 13 replies

{WotB} Field Piece - Mitgardian Repeating Catapult
SkaForHire replied to Garmadon's topic in Guilds of Historica
We will definitely try to build a few of these. Both sides of the battle want to buy them, who are you willing to sell them to? (you could always double deal and sell to both... hahaha) Just reread your post.- 10 replies

Yes, DM I figured even though most of your men were holding the siege, that you would still send an elite unit for Dugal. Did you want to make an appearance yourself?

Book II - Kaliphlin: Guild sign-up and Discussion

I think we have talked about running a second round. However, it will probably be a little later in the summer when the other challenges die down a bit. -

And the Heating Oil Czar of Kaliphlin is.... Gideon!!! Congratulations! -
It looks like we are only a little behind schedule. I think the Battlefield (which is nothing to write home about this time around) will be done in about a week, and we will probably start fighting the battle next Wednesday or so. Keep the signups coming, I think we have most everyone who signed up replicated already.

SkaForHire replied to SkaForHire's topic in Guilds of Historica
Hello all, are we missing any field pieces that are not listed here? If so, please list them by this Friday. We hope to announce a winner on Sunday, and announce which pieces will make it onto the field for the actual battle of the Wither Woods.- 9 replies

Ch ll: Team Simon: Cat B: Troops to Avalonia
SkaForHire replied to TheUtilityBelt's topic in Guilds of Historica
Too bad there is not more blue on those figs, because I think two yellow arms would look better. Additionally, I suppose you could try legs that alternated yellow and blue to make the accents more pronounced. -
No we can take signups until the end of the battle in a few weeks. I think you still have a half day for the field piece entry.

Book II - Kaliphlin: Guild sign-up and Discussion
SkaForHire replied to SkaForHire's topic in Guilds of Historica
Ok, for those who have asked about this in private messages, I am currently out of town for at least the next week. So my checking in is sparse. As I expected, nothing fell apart while I was gone. haha. Anyway, Kai, love that shield design for the base! Also, Gid, that war machine is very cool. -
Fellow guild-members (code for Hello all), Kaliphlin has responded nobly to Avalonia's call for help in the shape of cotton! The members of the humanitarian society, Order of the Green Tree, have shipped cotton to Avalonia in a number of somewhat novel ways! robuko, in his Mercy Mission, got the job done with style: TheUtilityBelt32 went for a Cotton and Cavalry approach; And last but not least, Mike S got the job done with speed with his Kaliphlin Express Mail! To which of our adventurous Kaliphlinians will we award the title of Cotton Transport Czar of Kaliphlin (note, this is not a tag, just bragging rights)? Voting closes May 15th. Special Thanks to Kai, who wrote the post.

Hello all, I am way behind here, but we need to vote for who will earn the title of "Heating Oil Czar of Kaliphlin." (Note this is not a tag, it is something you could claim as a title, but I can see about someone changing your avatar description line if you want -- no promises though!) The entries were: Mike S's, Kai's, Gideon's. TheUtilityBelt32's So please vote for your favorite. Voting will end on 5/13.

Nice haul! Silly question, did you buy in those small cups, or are you just displaying them in the small cups? I ask because I wondered what the reasoning behind buying so many small cups versus a few large cups is? I have heard packing in the small cups is some times easier, so I was wondering if this was one of those cases. -
Book II - Nocturnus: Guild sign-up and Discussion
SkaForHire replied to ZCerberus's topic in Guilds of Historica
To confirm, yes, they earn gold. In book 1, Gold = who is "babysitting" the kingdom. Avalonia won, therefore they technically have the throne. With all the civil war, I guess it is just barely. Book II there will be something a bit different. In book III the leadership has talked about being able to spend gold during the saga instead of at the end. Nothing is set in stone though. -
Wow, this is shaping up to be larger than Queens Cross, we already have more participants! I was about to spend my $100 May Lego fund on mass troops from Bricklink, but instead, I may be looking to find some of the pieces to replicate all these warriors coming in! I actually didn't expect the sides to even out either. That was a surprise. Gabe, what are the shields the camel riders have? Also, I am unfamiliar which aftermarket company that makes those helmets. Sadly, I have very few camels... maybe I should get a couple more before the battle. As with Robuko's large forces, I will try to get at least half of yours represented.

Sounds good. I think we will make the rules something like 25% chance the rocket explodes rather than fires. And then a 10% chance after explosion of catastrophic failure. If not catastrophic explosion happens, the artillery survives to fight another round.

Hello, since the other thread is becoming a response to the Call for Arms, I wanted to move the contest thread here. If you have already posted your entry, go ahead and post a link to it here. If you are posting an entry, make sure to link to it here. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PART TWO: Bringing the pain We are going to try something new this time around; we are going to have other people “build” weapons of war that will be used in both battles. The builders will build LDD models that we can use the show construction mode on. (Alternatively, a builder could photograph “instructions” to participate in this battle). Then, we will build some of these models for the battles. This is what you have to do: Create a separate thread for your weapon of war, then link it in a post in this thread. The title tag for the LDD contest is {WotB} In your thread you should have a completed picture of the siege weapon. You should have the capability to email us the design or “print” it. (Links to this material in your thread are highly appreciated!) You can add story to your weapon (maybe what company / person built it, etc…) You can also tell us what side you hope will use your weapon (Petera or Dugal’s). Is it a one of a kind weapon that has special properties? Or could there be multiple on the battle field? There are two categories, and each builder can enter both up to three times. The first category is Field Pieces. These will be used at the Battle of the Wither Woods. This battle will most likely take place in a lightly wooded area, but overall very few fortifications will be present on the field. The weapons can range from catapult to ballista, from twirling death machine to cow crusher… the limits are endless, other than it really should not be a siege engine. The second category is Siege Engines. These should be the heavy duty battle machines that are designed to take down walls, assault fortresses, and get men in close to fight the enemy. The siege engines will be used later on in the year at the Battle for Eastgate. One caveat -- the portion of the battle portrayed at the end of summer will be an invasion from the sea... So, any siege weapons that fold up nicely, may have the upper hand in the judging. (MAY HAVE) Specifications: Since we are going to try and build these, we are going to set a 400 piece limit. You don’t have to use 400 pieces, you can use fewer. We just won’t be able to build anything larger than 400 pieces. The one thing I do not have in my collection is a lot of technic gears and pieces, staying away from these would increase the chances of seeing your weapon in built form during the battle. However, containing many technic pieces won’t hurt your chance of winning. Just like the call to arms, anybody in the Guilds of Historica can participate. Deadline: Field Pieces: May 15th Siege Engines: July 30th The winner of each category will be forever known as Artillery Captain of Eastgate or Siege Commander of Eastgate
