  1. Never noticed that set... in fact it has all the features of a caribbean pirates concept! Treasure, ship, plank and parrot. The minifig is great! Edit: I can see it well into a Monkey Island™ theme, too bat TLG never did something like that!
  2. Cannon battle and my brother's BBB from 2009. Sabre island and a couple minikits from long time ago... In 2009 I was collecting star wars kits, hope to get some more pirate's set in the next wave, if it worths.
  3. This is really an improvement! Looks fast and sturdy, hope never to fight against her in the brick-ocean!
  4. Sorry to see your ship this damaged.. do you plan to rebuild her tha same way or similar to beatrix?
  5. Absolutely!!!! This is yhe reason I've suspended my main project... I'm working on oyther side projects based on lfx files (thanks to users who had the kindness to share those) because this way I could buy only the required bricks. Producing something new is great, but requires some buying I can't afford this times :(
  6. I said so just because of your inspirations (beatrix and "build a frigate" project). In this case the suggestion could be different: a bulky ship gives the opportunity to make interiors in the lower deck (and this is a thing I personally like a lot), but in this case you may consider to change the yellow line into reddish brown, then black drawing a slightly curved line and leaving only a stripe about 2 bricks high with yellow bricks representing the gunline.
  7. Was the banana-look on purpose? The lego sky, in addition with monkeys make recall of 8 bit donkey kong (and this is good!). This is a strange moc, it's funny, but at the same time the amount of details makes it look far from a "toy". Really like it!
  8. My suggestion is to lower both sterncastle and bowcastle before making sides. This will make a nice slim look. Since now it is promising by the way..
  9. Sorry for the question, but "stud shooter" means the cannon in the junior pirates set?
  10. Uooops! Forgive my ignorance, sometimes it happens to me to say "england" instead of UK. I heard every region is proud of its identity. If it happens again, I can promise it will not be on purpose.. (sorry). Back on your search for official lego cannons saving for redcoats, have you considered to buy some 6239 used set? This way you may have a cannon, a soldier and a sailor, each..
  11. I think the tv series "hornblower" may be a great suggestion fo historically accurate english uniforms. The episode "frogs and lobsters" shows lots of infantry (lego redcoats?)
  12. I'm afraid the only sets wich worths its price will be the cheapest ones, like 6239 in 2009. Rising by price usually pirates sets keeps designed for kids, but prices are for collectors. I'm honestly asking myself why, because in other themes (star wars for example) some clever and stimulating technique is associated to more expensive set. In order to this, a ship is usually released in every pirate theme, but we still see the same design: flat ribbed sides and rised stern. Said so, I'm probably buying those the same, it's just a reflection..
  13. Unfortunately I don't think all of the white parts used for the brickbuilt stern are available in reddish brown color.. perhaps they might be in dark orange, I don't know how these two colors looks like together. Anyway, thanks a lot for sharing this!!
  14. Absolutely interested!
  15. I know this theme is mostly done, so this is just a question for my curiosity: I've just now relized the concern about smugglers, the way they could not be accepted by younger players because of the unknown nature etc.. Looking at the old LEGO catalogue page, the main figures weren't the imperial guards, but pirates. This is pretty unusual, because often the protagosists are the "good guys". Haven Guard is an idea I love and I'd like to see realized, but if it don't work because of the unknown figure of the smuggler there could be an answer: It might be boring, for a kid playing, to pretend to be a merchant, hoping to avoid pirates encounter and everyting for going well, but it might be exciting to pretend to be a smuggler, they also have to fear pirates for robbing cargos, and haven guards too! Is it stupid to think smugglers as the protagonists in this theme?
  16. Anyone tried to make a brickbuilt hull for a vessel using the 10234 "Sydney Opera House" upper part instructions?
  17. Mine was just an opinion. Since in the torso design the suggestion was "not to exceed 4 colors and black lines count as one" I just thought it was a matter of costs. In that case, designing new bricks to customize minifigs might be a bold move. BUT, as I said, it just an opinion/criticism.
  18. I was pretty sure about Mr Phes intentions. I haven't told anything against decals for torso, as even for the new flag (I've voted for that) some new print will needed :) I'm against the molding of new pieces, as casting with bicomponents or 3D printing etc. Also this kind of implemention could be an anchor for the haven guard project. Couple years ago I've seen a special episode on LEGO at discovery channel, and every single mold costs to TLG 250k euros. Casting new pieces is expensive, I think we've all that we need. About torso/flag/faces printing is obviously another story... Sebeus, hope you still have the lfx file about your brickbuilt hull 2 masted, that would ba a great purpose IMHO!
  19. Good looking! You may try some color to interrupt the whole brown surfaces. Inside there are lots of features and details, really like it!
  20. Ok, if you said crossbones has been a good show I'll try to force myself to look at least the second episode. First has been... well... no words.
  21. This is exactly the kind of ship I would like to see involved into the haven guard project. LEGOish, detailed and with a dutch-like design.
  22. I am personally against the custom part molding, if you are talking about a single AFOL using putty or so for personal purpose. The nicest thing, in building with these bricks, is to find a way to get the shape you want with what you have. Using sqaured bricks to get curved lines and so on... and this (to me) is true also with minifigs. Things changes if you are talking about a third part, making pieces "in series". The complete availability to all users meke those pieces in some way "official". I, myself, have some WWII german and US helmets, weapons etc to put in my minifig.
  23. Nice look both for shape and colors! The same size with a maximum count of 60 guns on sides would have been better. The perfection were probably in a total amount of 50 guns, so you had the chance to put some minifig on her keeping the scale illusion.
  24. May I say: I've voted just one flag, and I confirm my vote, but in case of parity between a muskeet logo and another logo my vote goes to muskeet? Or I have to choose other two flags?
  25. Not really colossal. It's an heavy frigate (8 mids) wich still needs a stern and masts.
