  1. Yep - 1 regular non-licensed with multi-themed figures, 1 non-licensed with a theme, 1 licensed works for me!
  2. I agree that themed non-licensed sets are favourable to licensed sets for me. I just don't want this to replace a regular series slot but if it replaced something like the Muppets, Looney Tunes, Simpsons then I'm quite happy. I like the idea of an Adventurers Moments set, which would probably be the like the Anubis set (as mentioned above - no stickers please)!
  3. I’d certainly hope any themed non-licensed series wouldn’t be in place of the regular series. Part of the appeal of the original CMF line was the variety of non-licensed figures and generally characters that they wouldn’t bother including in regular sets. I’d like an Adventurers series but Space, Castle, Pirates would be a waste in my opinion, just as the costumed and monsters series were. It would be OK if these were in place of a licensed series I suppose.
  4. I think my most wanted is as follows: Giraffe Sea Lion (in brown) Capybara Hippo (only if the top half is detachable for a wallowing effect) Swan Vulture Beaver Zebra Sloth Wombat plus bring back the camel (yes, even before the goat *hides*) and a seagull without wings spread out.
  5. Yes - I like the look of the Indy sets but when I saw the number of stickers I decided not to buy the sets. So many promising sets ruined because of dreadful stickering.
  6. I can’t see it happening soon (mainly due to Friends like you said). Would be nice to have some City sets with boats which are mainly for leisure rather than exploration or rescue/police etc. Something like the Sail n Fly Marina from 1994 would be good, a smaller set with a speedboat and jet skier and a tropical island based airport.
  7. Perhaps Lego should create a theme like Playmobil’s ‘Wiltopia’. I personally prefer the non-city based ‘City’ themes. Give me Jungle Exploration, The Great Outdoors, Safari any day over Police, Fire and Construction. Loved the 90s ‘Leisure’ subtheme of Town - boats, canyons, rafting, air shows, campervans…
  8. I turned 13 in 1996 and that was also the start of my brief Dark Ages. Prior to that though I always used to love getting the catalogue (no Internet in those days so you’d only see any new sets when they appeared in the catalogue)! My favourite was probably when Paradisa was first introduced as I loved to create holiday (vacation island) settings, which is partly why I had a lot of Pirates set for the palm trees. I never did get any Paradisa but the catalogue pics made it look like such a great place! Got back into Lego in 1999 when Star Wars was released - not because of the theme but the Land Speeder was the first set to include blonde and grey minifigure hair, which always bothered me as a kid!
  9. Some top work as usual @snaillad! Often wonder what you are planning in the time between you sharing your creations with us and always look forward to seeing what you’ve been building. I’d like to visit this bar!
  10. I'd be worried just in case Lego do listen to fans and they make the figure and isn't very popular! I will therefore change my choice! I always think an Adventurers reboot would give us a much higher chance of new animals, although I can't see it with the Indiana Jones sets currently available again. Perhaps there will be a tribute figure in the CMF line, like the Johnny Thunder lookalike with chameleon.
  11. @williejm - Yeah, though in fairness I did include the caveat that we don't officially have a deer as the Lego version is implied it is a reindeer but I don't wish to upset Roebuck! Hopefully we can get some stand alone sets like the otter battlepack for some of the missing animals (I think lemurs would be most suitable for this), although I think the missing African creatures deserve a big set with those I listed above, plus gazelles and meerkats too. Smaller animals could find themselves in regular CMF series (most likely would be a beaver I think). Normal city sets could include a swan and a fox in urban sets without having to explore areas outside of the City. PS - I forgot the Signature police were on patrol tonight - duly updated!
  12. Pleased to see the 2 seal variants introduced this year. I agree with @williejm that the next wildlife subtheme is likely to be forest (either temperate or a tropical climate). Sadly I don't think we will get another Savannah/Safari subtheme next as there were only recent Wildlife Rescue sets based in Africa. A real pity as I think some of the main omissions of fairly 'basic' animals within Lego's range are Giraffes, Hippos, Rhinos and Zebras. Unless they make a zoo subtheme (which seems less likely given that this hasn't happened previously), these animals only really fit into African-based wildlife sets and are probably too big to feature as an accessory to a CMF series. It is of course very good we are now seeing a lot more animals introduced. However, Lego are very late to the game and still decades behind Playmobil when it comes to animal inclusion. I was looking at their current 'Wiltopia' sets to see what they had to offer and what is still missing from Lego (not including any mascara-wearing Friends equivalents)... Alligator (Lego has the Crocogator hybrid) Alpaca Anteater Arctic Fox Bear (Lego version exists) Beaver Butterfly (Lego version exists) Caiman (Lego version exists if the Baby Crocogator counts) Cockatoo Deer (not really - the Lego mould is a reindeer - the Wiltopia version is also a fawn but there are deer in other themes) Dolphin (Lego version exists) Eagle (Lego version exists) Elephant (Lego version exists) Fish (Lego version exists) Flamingo (Lego version exists as a garden accessory) Frog (Lego version exists) Gazelle Gorilla Hedgehog Heron Hoatzin Hummingbird Ibex Jaguar (Lego version exists) Kingfisher Koala (Lego version exists) Lemur Lion (Lego version exists) Manatee Meerkat Monkey (Lego versions exist) Moose Ocelot Orangutan Panda Parrot (Lego version exists) Peacock Penguin (Lego version exists) Polar Bear (Lego version exists) Raccoon Red Panda Reindeer (Lego version exists) River Dolphin Seal (Lego version soon to be available) Skunk (Lego version exists) Snake (Lego version exists) Squirrel (Lego version exists) Swordfish Tapir Tiger (Lego version exists) Tortoise (the Playmobil version looks more like a turtle, which is odd as I know Americans call tortoises turtles but not vice versa) Toucan (Lego version exists) Turtle (Lego version exists) Vulture Wolf Being lazy, I could only be bothered to list the Wiltopia animals but Playmobil has many other themes with even more animals (for example, badgers, foxes, wild boars, pheasants, marmots, plus lots of farm animals and pets and one very odd looking set with a bear on skis). It should also be noted that there are lots more baby variants to the above as well, plus everything listed above is all currently available, whereas most of the animals in Lego form are now extinct in the wild (RIP camels and ostriches). Decades in the future, the burning question our grandchildren will be asking us is if Lego really did once have a goat mould!
  13. Yes, 6597 really was the greatest airport set!
  14. Not sure what you mean but the Fire Brigade modular was the first to include a vehicle if that is what you are asking.
  15. Is there a list for 2023 summer City sets yet?
  16. Nicely done @Bricksbypidy!
  17. That’s cool - hopefully they will introduce them again in the silvery-grey colour. These are quite old parts in Friends though - none introduced since 2019?
  18. I really like the minifigure spoons and forks but they don’t seem to come with knives, which is very frustrating. I get that knives aren’t really play friendly and knife crime is an issue but I don’t think a butter knife encourages too much violence. It’s not like children aren’t taught to use full cutlery at home!
  19. Happy Birthday @Pirate_King_1982 - enjoy the building! I like the idea of the lakeside camping area. I think there were some BAM scout-like uniforms released, which may be useful - surprised we haven't had one in a CMF series though... BrickLink - Part 973pb4878c01 : LEGO Torso Shirt, Red Neckerchief, Green Sash with Scout Badges Pattern (BAM) / Tan Arms / Yellow Hands [Minifigure, Torso Assembly, Decor.] - BrickLink Reference Catalog
  20. Love it - would love to see this as an official set. I even had to reactivate my account to add my support!
  21. I fully support all the gripes regarding stickers in this thread. Stickers are simply the worst.
  22. Hopefully a few BAM variations of the dress too.
  23. I really love this new cabin set and gives me something to look forward to during January and enjoy in February, which are my least favourite months. It reminds me a lot of Rocky River Retreat set 6552 - I also had 6665 River Runners, which I think worked well together. Would love many more of this type of set and would buy a new one every year (e.g. an annual update to the forest/great outdoors, like the Winter Village or Lunar New Year sets). One thing Lego doesn't do particularly well in my opinion is trees. The trees in this set aren't bad, but mainly because of the varied autumnal coloured leaves. However, it would be good to have more variation and some actual pine trees like in the original Ideas design. p.s. Thanks for the link @Aanchir
  24. I couldn’t find a separate thread about the A-Frame Cabin - are we classing this as City and OK to discuss here?
