  1. I'll join in the booing for the lack of new animals and recolours... BOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
  2. I’d be very interested in that. I was hoping for an airport in a Paradisa-esque island setting. Lots of tourists in Hawaiian shirts and palm trees (a tribute to set 6396).
  3. Well that’s me done then. I’m rarely good. 🤨
  4. @williejm a nice story but hope you told them we wouldn’t have this issue if Lego just released their own version of the Playmobil Wiltopia advent calendar! 😂 Are you going to tell us what is included in your version of this year’s calendar?
  5. Looks like the husky will make an appearance in the paper pack attached to November’s City magazine. Perhaps a sign it will also be included in the Shackleton set? I tried to find which dog species he used in the expedition and although he used various species and cross breeds, I think this would be a suitable choice. Hope we get penguins too 🐧 🐧 🐧 Won’t be long before the Jan City wave is revealed too. Fingers crossed the Lego Animal department is generous. I love the Botanical Garden so keen to build a park so I’d really like a swan 🦢
  6. It’s ok - I managed to find it! Thanks though. As @Lion King said, the official pics can’t be far off. Lego have done a good job keeping sets unrevealed recently. I can’t believe the Botanical Garden will be released in less than two weeks and it hasn’t been officially unveiled yet. Next month could be very interesting with the next modular, Lunar NY set, new City sets + other Jan themes not yet seen and of course more detailed pics of Series 27!
  7. One thing that bothers me a lot is that current sets with food often come with forks and spoons but not knives - they did previously have full sets of cutlery (including knives) in older Friends sets but now these moulds are omitted and not available in the silvery colour like the forks and spoons. I completely understand the reluctance to promote carrying knives, etc. However, I am talking about cutlery, which most children will use everyday (yes, I know some cultures have alternatives to knives and forks), whereas other weapons are widely available in other themes. If we could have the butter knife available in the same colour as the silvery forks and spoons, I will be a happy AFOL.
  8. I don't suppose anybody saved the pic of the Series 27 series?
  9. Yes - I haven't seen any positive comments at all from any AFOLS. Perhaps it will appeal to younger fans but I still don't see the appeal when there are sets available of fast cars with full minifigures. As you say, it seems like a waste when regular CMF series provide us with the opportunity to provide missing moulds (e.g. musical instruments, animals, sports equipment, weapons, costumes), whereas this appears to have no variety. At least the actual City sets seem to offer newer moulds these days than they did before.
  10. I think you might be right about 2&3 actually being three figs - not sure about the beard idea though but you could be right. Can't wait to get a more detailed look. I wonder if any of the figs will be a 'tribute' character like Prof Kilroy in the museum or Pippin Reed in the Orient Express. The figure on the left of the entrance looks a little Johnny Thunder-like to me.
  11. I know this is the modular thread and the Botanical Garden is technically not one, but I cannot see it has its own thread and this thread seems appropriate... It looks like there are 11 minigfigs... 1) Left of tree 2&3) In front of left 'wing' of set - 1 adult 1 child 4-7) In centre/entrance area 8&9) To the right of the entrance 10&11) Next to a dog (puppy) Am I missing any? No. 8 looks as though it doesn't have a yellow face? I hope the interior includes some giant water lilies (my favourite at Kew)!
  12. Yes - the set with the gorillas. I wasn't implying it was a modular, just that I still haven't bought it (among several other sets I'd like), so I'm in no rush for the next modular to be released in December.
  13. I am hoping one day we will get a modular concert hall (although to fill it with an orchestra would probably vastly exceed the minifigure quotation). Even so, you would hope by then there would be more instruments available to include as I can't see too many moulds (although the jazz club did include a double bass which I thought was introduced for that set). However, I think a new mould would only be likely if it was required (e.g. it was either integral to a licensed set or needed to depict the minifigure's role in a CMF set). We don't seem to have many musicians any more in CMF but hope this changes soon. I'd like a new trumpet, trombone, tuba and anything else that would work well in an orchestra or brass band.
  14. If the Botanical Gardens leak is a picture from the Lego website itself (along with a Nov release date), surely the official pics are pretty much imminent. Just been building the museum, which has been enjoyable, and this looks similar. It does help I went to Kew Gardens in the late summer! Looks like a decent minifig count too - I see 12? I still have lots of big sets to buy (Orient Express, Jazz Club, Gorillas and a Winter Village set) so don’t mind waiting until Jan for the new modular.
  15. We do need to consider that the 2011 Post Office is not currently available and many kids within the target demographic for these sets will not have been born back then.
  16. Apparently an upcoming set 10359
  17. I was thinking they could implement the new colours as often the modular buildings they try to give us a wider variety of brick types in newer colours although the red-orange seems a bit too bright for a building. I am a bit conservative when it comes to using colour though - my MOCs are always rather neutral looking! There are also two new darker flesh tones which could also be used. I'm happy with whatever the theme of the set is - as long as there are a good variety of new parts, including printed tiles, new minifigures, interesting colours and unique pieces to make it worthwhile. Hopefully there will be some foliage - I'd like more autumnal trees.
  18. I think this discussion just proves the non-licensed series are the best, as there is usually something for everyone. People often complain there are too many City figures but it makes sense given the wide variety of occupations, hobbies, nationalities and costume options there are in the modern world. Lego can’t include everything in every series (although it was better when there were 16 figures per series), but they do a good job in making sure different genres are covered. I personally like the variety, although I have a preference for City figures that reflect leisure/travel or exploration subthemes. Anything with a real-world animal is a big plus. I’d like to see more Ancient Egyptian stuff too.
  19. Does an iguana falling when it gets too cold count as a Blizard?
  20. I visited Uxmal in Mexico a number of years ago and there are lots of iguanas just hanging about - pretty scary when exploring some of the ruins and an iguana runs out of the shadows - they are big! Perhaps with a Mayan figure or another Conquistador/16th Century explorer would be good.
  21. Is there a requirement to provide instructions for Ideas submissions - as in any case Lego will always make adjustments to the final product. I would disagree this set would be more popular if it included mini dolls. The Friends sets already have sufficient pastel-coloured, leisure-based sets for those that like them. Although becoming more popular it seems, mini dolls remain a fairly divisive subject among fans. I think the fact this includes regular mini figures is exactly why it would be more popular than just another Friends set. I guess the closest we currently have is the Boutique Hotel but this will be 4 Modular’s ‘old’ in January and presumably discontinued by the time an Ideas set came into fruition!
  22. I suppose there is some opportunity to see some new animals there... Holiday Adventure Camper Van - there was a Playmobil campervan set with raccoons or perhaps time for a fox. My vote would be something North American like a moose or a bison (e.g. set in Yellowstone or a National Park) Lifeguard Beach Rescue Truck - the last lifeguard tower came with a re-colour of the turtle. I wouldn't mind seeing the CMF turtle back as it looked better in olive green and would be nice to see the corresponding larger version. An opportunity for a new 'wings-tucked-in seagull' or a pelican as well . My preference would be for sea lions. Off-Road 4x4 Mountain Truck - something like a big horn sheep would be wonderful. I'd love this to be the Andes mountains and see a llama though. Are there any other upcoming sets for this year we haven't yet seen? The Botanical Garden Friends version had ducks and butterflies. Also, the Shackleton ship could potentially include more seals/penguins. I can't see them introducing a new mould for either of these sets and not hopeful.
  23. Yes - likewise not all of us are clamouring for a Post Office. I really don't understand why it has so much appeal to be honest - Post Offices here aren't that exciting venues and most don't conform to a specific type of building. I don't therefore see what a Post Office could offer that would necessarily provide something we don't really have already in Lego. I certainly won't complain when a Modular Post Office is inevitably made - for me the modular line is all about what the building can offer (e.g. past modulars have provided either a good supply of bricks in a new or previously limited colour like the olive green of the Parisian Restaurant, or unique pieces like the mirror in the Detective's Office or some form of useful printed tiles). If a Post Office can offer this then that will be great but I'd rather have something we don't have - for example, an opticians would give us the chance of having a printed tile of a Snellen test. Part of the appeal of the Jazz Club for me was the double bass piece and the printed signage. Whatever we end up with, I hope there are some useful parts which make it worth spending a large amount of money on. In the early years of the modular it was a helpful way of increasing the amount of bricks in your collection that were of a more neutral colour to help build more realistic towns. Nowadays I have far more bricks and we can readily order bulk parts via Pick 'A' Brick so the modular buildings really need to have enough unique pieces (including minifigures) to make it worthwhile paying for as well as being an enjoyable building experience.
  24. Yay! I was looking at the Wiltopia set the other day thinking how lucky the Playmobil fans were and hoping the best we might get could one day be a wombat. Didn't realise the cockatoos (also included in the wombat set) were going to surprise me next! Let's hope Lego City goes Down Under next year!
