You should put this on Lego Ideas. It would be far better than the vast majority of submissions and a refreshing break from all the overhyped licensed rubbish. I could see this getting the required 10,000 votes and something people would actually buy.

Latest news about Lego animal moulds

I do wonder why a red panda was chosen for last year. It’s not the most recognisable animal and didn’t really fit in with the jungle environment (living in a coniferous forest). Makes me hopeful for some surprises next year too. I just love the Playmobil Wiltopia wombat sets!- 5,877 replies

Latest news about Lego animal moulds

There was a Friends canal houseboat but no ducks - there were some ducks in the Friends Botanical Garden though and a 'System' version is due to be released - I think it's an ideas set though so not sure they create new moulds (although the otter came with The A-Frame Cabin). Another long shot but there are lots of paintings by famous artists featuring Cupid with a swan... I would have liked something more Adventurers/Explorers related like the ornithologist with toucan - something South American preferably like a sloth/capybara/tapir. The fact we got a red panda makes me dream!- 5,877 replies

I'd love a canal/river boat/barge in a City playset with a family of swans - also want a proper cricket player (Hot Fuzz reminded me of Shaun Of The Dead)!- 5,877 replies

I wouldn't grumble with a new seagull - similar to the previous one but without outstretched wings.- 5,877 replies

A little disappointing to be honest - I know a potential wolf will please many but not really for me and a cat isn't too exciting either. Was hoping for more rainforest/safari/Australian animals or a swan!- 5,877 replies

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Future Series Rumours
lifeinplastic replied to r4-g9's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Yeah - this is an awful idea (if true). It doesn't even sound good for people who like Formula One! Hopefully just a side thing and won't replace a regular series of actually good proper minifigures. -

That's a pity - I'll have to cancel my order for the giant banner I'd planned to hang opposite the Leicester Square Lego store saying 'WE'VE GOT THE HUMP THE CAMELS HAVE ALL GONE' and all the printed T-Shirts saying 'DON'T BURY YOUR HEADS IN THE SAND, BRING BACK THE LEGO OSTRICH'- 5,877 replies

Perhaps if we start the campaign for their return now we might see them at some point in the 2030s! We eventually got the goats back after all!- 5,877 replies

Latest news about Lego animal moulds
lifeinplastic replied to Roebuck's topic in Special LEGO Themes
The olive green crocodiles are definitely one of my favourites - I should really pick up some olive green babies to match. I also still need to get the gorillas and a red panda too before they disappear forever like the camels and ostriches. I'm hoping Lego continue with the recent trend of releasing a small set with a new animal (or two) - such as the otters, seals, red pandas. I assume these will always be animals of a certain size and that larger animals like the gorilla will be saved for more expensive sets. I can see something like sea lions, wombats, meerkats, a peacock, orang-utans, raccoons, swans, beavers, tapirs, anteaters, vultures, gazelles (if not then perhaps one of these could also be included in the next regular CMF line as they would be small enough to fit). I'm looking forward to seeing what we get next year and if there will be a City theme that provides a good opportunity for lots of new moulds.- 5,877 replies

[MOC] Adventurers' Layout
lifeinplastic replied to YellowFrog's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Yes - I'm hoping Lego release some sort of tribute set to the theme that includes the following: Prince of Persia Camels Figures representing all the original characters Phaorah's Quest Anubis minifigs All the original hieroglyphics/printed parts Then some follow-ups with other subthemes (Jungle, Orient...). Not so bothered about Dino Island though. -

I really like what you have done so far, but disagree that you necessarily need to use the same moulds and designs as the original sets. Nowadays we have so many more colours and moulds that weren't available back then so I see no reason not to make the most of what we have now. Particularly as getting copies of the old sets is now very expensive. I'd also add that the Prince of Persia camel moulds would fit nicely into an Egyptian diorama and the latest crocodile moulds are much better than the originals. Having said that, I really wish Lego would re-release some of the older printed bricks like the hieroglyphics, Anubis Heads from Pharoah's Quest and also that we would get some more Adventurers-style figures in the collectible minifigures with appropriate treasures and animals. I'd personally try not to mix up the subthemes in the same diorama - perhaps concentrate on the jungle and decide whereabouts in the world it is set and plan accordingly (e.g. the toucan would work well in an Amazon setting but not applicable to an African or Indian jungle). I'd create smaller vignettes within the diorama based on each character - e.g. the Max Villano raft with several crocodiles snapping, a crashed aeroplane, Johnny exploring the jungle ruins, an indigenous community, villains stealing lost treasures, Pippin Reed investigating a waterfall and a boat with Dr Kilroy watching the wildlife. -
LEGO Collectable Minifigures Future Series Rumours
lifeinplastic replied to r4-g9's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Can't think of anything more dull than a Formula One series - Wacky Races would be far better (although I still wouldn't buy any). -
There is another thread in this forum discussing the 2025 City sets (currently only info regarding the jungle based sets that have already had some sort of limited release).
-
Oh my! Lucky you to have all these sets. I tried to buy some new boxed copies of the Egyptians sets recently but they were so expensive. I always remember seeing a Lego magazine with the Adventurers in some jungle ruins with lots of monkeys (the ones first released with Pirates in the late 80's). However, I don't remember any of the jungle sets containing any monkeys and can't see any in your sets.

As these are Bricklink rules then I assume that doesn't mean those rules necessarily apply to official Lego sets. However, it does seem that Lego will not release a zoo, given that we still haven't had one in City despite the emergence of many new animal moulds in more modern times (although there was a CMF Zookeeper). They don't even sell Duplo Zoo sets any longer. I completely understand this stance not to depict animals in captivity (although I support zoos that promote conservation efforts). I had hoped we would one day see a safari park, which would avoid a depiction of animals in cramped enclosures, but an actual safari theme is still possible I suppose, so we may one day finally see giraffes, zebras, hippos and rhinos!- 5,877 replies

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Future Series Rumours
lifeinplastic replied to r4-g9's topic in Special LEGO Themes
A Formula 1 series would be terrible. Just release the cars with the relevant accompanying drivers and release a normal series where there will be something for everyone! -
Yes - it probably doesn’t mean much but Lego must know including nostalgic characters would be appealing to older collectors. I suppose there is a chance that if the sets sell well then they would be inclined to do more of the same in future.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Future Series Rumours
lifeinplastic replied to r4-g9's topic in Special LEGO Themes
This is exactly why I like the regular series and miss the old 3 non-licensed series a year with 16 figures. Variety means pretty much everyone gets something - I often don't bother with some series any more as they don't have anything appealing, whereas previously there was always a few figures. For example, I'd love a modern day Paradisa series but know that this wouldn't be popular with a lot of fans (for example Space or Castle collectors). -
I don't mind adding electronic elements either - my favourite set of all time was the Metroliner train. However, I don't really think these new limited release jungle sets are particularly great and well designed (although I think the City 2024 was excellent). If we are going to see electronic elements (which will no doubt increase the prices too), I'd rather we have far more lighting options.

Yes - you would think with Lego now knowing there is a huge demand for new animals then African wildlife still seems to be the theme still missing a lot of fairly standard animals (giraffe, zebra, rhino and hippo). If they do make a hippo though, it really should be possible to separate it horizontally so that the upper half can be attached to a plate so that it looks like it is semi-submerged in the water. I was surprised that red pandas were produced as they are relatively obscure animals, so hopefully an African theme could also include gazelles, meerkats, hyenas, honey badgers, etc. Plus, bringing back the ostrich. I understand the comment above in relation to including an aspect of adventure and I would still prefer to see a separate theme similar to the Adventurers (to include Egyptian pyramids and other global locations), rather than seeing Johnny Thunder figures in City sets, particularly if we miss out on all the other characters. Waiting for a Dr Kilroy in the CMF (in his explorers outfit rather than the museum curator).
