  1. Classic Space, mainly from about 1980-85 or so.
  2. Yep, but not at Walmart, just TRU. Not sure about the local Targets yet... Got Apu, Scratchy and Chief Wiggums in my last go... Somehow ended up with another Bart and Maggie after thinking I did a good job feeling them out, though. :(
  3. Got my first three today: Homer, Bart and Maggie. Not a bad start!
  4. I don't think that's a problem. I don't think Lego cares about continuities.
  5. Cool, I gotta get me some of these. This is exactly what I need to upgrade my Kreon Joes. :)
  6. They shouldinclude a Top Gun style fighter pilot in a future CMF line, at least. They could get away with that. Drill Instructor would probably be benign enough, too... Though it's a bit funny thinking of a DI as benign! Now that I think of it, if they can do a British soldier in ceremonial guard attire, why not a US Marine in dress blues?
  7. I would call that an MLRS myself, but very nice!
  8. Nice pics! Regarding Benny's SSS, assuming it sells well, do you think Lego would ever consider releasing it in a limited edition Classic Space style box? I'd buy one in addition to the two SSS sets I plan on buying. :)
  9. Oh, I definitely feel that it fits in with Classic Space - I just wouldn't call it the 918 Mk II or anything like that. Give it its own LL designation. :)
  10. I will be honest, it doesn't really evoke LL 918 for me, but I like it a lot!
  11. Hold on there - we're not dropping the conversation altogether, are we? If he wanted that, he could have just closed the thread.
  12. I agree that this might get more attention/support if it was in the classic blue and grey... but (as I mentioned in the reboot thread) this isn't that far off from the Star Fleet Voyager colour scheme... I think a few tweaks with that in mind might look awesome. I also mentioned this in the other thread, but that spoiler looks off to me. Awesome design, though.
  13. That's really cool. I would buy that if Lego introduced it as part of a new Classic Space line... but I do have to say, I'm not a huge fan of the colour scheme. It's not that I'm one of those guys who thinks everything needs to be grey and blue - I quite like the later Classic Space schemes too. I like the white and grey here, but not so much the light translucent blue... I think if it matched the old Star Fleet Voyager a bit more I would absolutely love it! Something about the spoiler seems a bit off, as well... too ergonomic, maybe. :)
  14. That's an interesting point, and I suspect you might have found the true crux of the matter... WWII is probably the most obvious example of a real conflict where most audiences - including (and maybe especially) children can make a very clear distinction between which side is morally in the right. I'm not saying that was necessarily true - especially from the point of view of the average soldier fighting on either side - but certainly it's been done successfully in countless films, television programs, books, etc. But I'm looking at it from a distinctly North American viewpoint. Would Europeans see it the same way? Should Lego - a European company - make villains out of Germans and Italians? I don't think they would - or should - but then again, I'm not sure we can have a bunch of soldiers in Waffen SS uniforms be all happy-go-lucky, Classic Town/Space smiley minifig head guys either. If WWII is hard to figure out, forget about any conflict since. :) In the end, I still think they'd sell a whole lot of sets - especially in the US, which is almost certainly good enough to warrant a try. After all, it COULD be a North American exclusive. And I'd love to see how it would turn out, personally. Do I think it will happen? Not really... But you never know. Things change. I seem to remember a time where Lego would "never" include guns, too... And of course, time has a way of "softening" our sensibilities to such things. Kid yourselves all you want, but those American Union soldiers and "Imperials" from the old Pirates lines, various collectible minifigures and any given Castle theme sets, ARE military sets. :)
  15. I'm a huge GI Joe fan, and Transformers too, so naturally I've been getting both lines. I will admit - the sets have been okay, but not great for the most part. I get them mainly for the Kreon minifigs - but this might change soon. The upcoming GI Joe wave looks spectacular, especially the Terrordrome! :) Funny thing, I started buying Lego again after Kreo - it transitioned me out of my dark age! That can't be a bad thing, even if you're a Lego purist...
  16. I think that might have been true before Benny. But who knows. I'm happy enough to get his SSS, and the Cuusoo set. Anything more would be gravy...
  17. Not including it would be incredibly lame... The CS connection = big cool factor. Otherwise, it's just another mech. A nice one, to be sure, but let's be honest - would it have gotten 10,000 supporters if it was Exo Force, or Galaxy Squad?
  18. Very nice! For some reason, I think the camo version captures the look a bit more... Both very well done, though.
  19. What about Star Wars? Make believe, sure... But that might actually do more harm in this regard than the context of historical events. I'm no childhood psychologist or anything, but I'm not pulling this out of my - ahem - either. Lt Col Dave Grossman questions the idea of Luke Skywalker - whom he describes as a sociopath! - as a role model in his book, On Killing. As much as I love SW, his analysis is tough to refute. I must have missed the wish list aspect of this thread, though. I for one would love an M4 Sherman and a bunch of WWII fighters... A B-17 would be awesome, too. JFK's PT-109 torpedo boat would be sweet, too.
  20. lol, I keep thinking I should switch them all on my classic sets, too. It just makes sense to me, especially since science fiction in general likes to use nautical terms and themes for spaceships...
  21. Yeah, I'd prefer if they were derived a bit more from the small one and two man ships from the '80s... or little mini monorails like the one that came with the Beta-1 Command Base. Yeah, that was sort of how I was picturing it myself... Trans-yellow is for blue ships and bases... whenever grey was the predominant colour, they used trans-green. I think trans-green would be more appropriate to the mech, unless they mixed in some blue bricks with it.
  22. The thing is, while I respect your opinion on this, and I respect Lego's stance on the whole thing (kind of... like I said, I do think they're being a BIT hypocritical), I really don't think any child being exposed to a toy tank or whatever is going to harm him or her whatsoever. I will never understand this hypothesis. Pretty much every kid I knew growing up played with GI Joes. Every single one of us played violent videogames. As far as I'm aware, not one of us turned into some kind of psychopath. I really don't see what the big deal is, on a personal level anyway.
  23. REALLY good post, here. I think I agree with a lot of what you've said. That said, yes, I think kids would buy them, especially in the US. And I would too! Maybe a North American/UK exclusive line? For all the reasons Lego wouldn't do it, I'd still like to see it happen... As for the argument that Lego is taking a hypocritical stance, here... Well, seeing as how I could pretty faithfully reproduce a scene of US soldiers massacring an American Indian village - using elements from just one theme, mind you - yeah, I'd say they're being a little hypocritical. But that never took place in Europe, so I guess it gets a pass. ;)
