^ Mattel got it, so you never know... Also, regarding toy IPs... Anything is possible. I know GI Joe might not be the best example, since Hasbro recently started doing Kreo sets, but consider this: Sideshow Collectibles has had an agreement with Hasbro to make high end, collectible 12" GI Joe action figures - something Hasbro has been doing for decades - since about 2008. And aren't there Barbie Megablocks now, too?

Too bad the little ship didn't have a bit of yellow - it could double as Blacktron!

About the only thing I'm disappointed in is the addition of that construction guy/robot. I realize it's a movie set, but another Spaceman would have been so much better... :( Sigh. Seeing that box next to it just made me realize it won't be in a cool, CS-style box, though I guess I had no real reason to think that was going to be the case. Ah, first world problems. I still can't wait for this one. :)

I hope it's a mix. Generally, I prefer printed pieces, but how cool would it be if they included a sheet with a bunch of logos, L's and numbers? :)

Hey Rufus (or anyone else), do you use the old "moulding pip on the side, not the stud" pieces, generally? I'm talking mainly 1x1, 1x2, and 1x3 bricks, and most plates. Just curious, as this is what I've been doing, for the earlier CS sets, anyway.

Oh man, thanks a lot Rufus - now I just HAVE to track down a 918 box as well! I love the little landing pad on the tray. So glad to see an update, finally, but I totally understand now how long it can take to restore these sets, much less take pics and post descriptions as you do it. I've been doing a little restoration myself, inspired by this thread. I managed to get my original Lego from my mother's classroom (yes, that's where it ended up!) and piece together my original Robot Command Centre! It too needed some upgraded parts (as you can imagine, what with it being in a primary school classroom for the better part of the past twenty years; the figures were all stolen by students!), but only today did I get the final pieces I needed. The only other set I could salvage was a Knight's Castle... the rest either went to my vintage spares bins or - for the ones that were chewed up (there were many), but still usable - my daughters' Lego. But I did manage to get some other Classic Space sets locally, including a 924 that needed a few new parts, too. The order that came in today included those as well - so pumped! :) Now, if I could only get my hands on a 928 to complete the trio... On a side note, it's pretty awesome that we'll be getting a 929 this year, too! Classic Space is finally making a comeback! :)

Very nice. I've been itching to make a Lego TD for my Kreons myself, not sure if I have the parts though. The Firebat is particularly nice. Offhand I'd say try to bend the blue plates on the top inward a bit, but that shouldn't be too difficult. Otherwise top notch!

The LEGO Movie Sets News and Discussion
DPrime replied to Itaria No Shintaku's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Hehe, not TOO subtle, really. :) I love that they named it LL929. It was really too bad they dropped the LL bricks after the first three spaceships. Hopefully we see more... Me neither, but it's kind of growing on me. Might make a cute little space droid or something. With this - assuming it IS happening - and the Cuusoo space walker, it might as well be. I know that's only two sets, but no doubt there will be some great alternate builds with the ship, so it could be a pretty fun Neo Classic Space year if you buy two or more. :) It IS a bit busy, but a lot of the Classic Space ships were, in the eighties at least. I think it fits in well.- 2,626 replies

Discussion Should LEGO make a Military Theme?
DPrime replied to KisKatona's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Wii they/won't they aside, I think WW1 would be a really fun theme. That sounds odd, I know, but there's a really interesting mix of old, 19th century elements (outlandish uniforms, cavalry, etc.) and modern that would make for a cool theme. I'd like to see a doughboy and German with spikes helmet someday, at least. -
Digging thru the history about LEGO...
DPrime replied to LEGO Historian's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Love seeing this stuff. Gotta admit, I'd like to see a Lego Historian Jr. tackle the '70s and '80s though. I know the info's out there but just not as well researched or presented! -
I don't see a problem with more female minifigs. Frankly I find the sometimes harsh reaction to these kinds of things a bit unnecessary. There are actual issues people should get worked up over, and that includes sexism even in this day and age. The usual Fox News type "outrage" over this stuff baffles me, and quite frankly is a bore.

Looking good for Benny... Gotta admit though, I hope we see some torsos and helmets without the "wear" in whatever sets he comes in.- 2,626 replies

That's just it. I'm sure Lego figures we can make him "accurate" if we really want to. Does that mean this ship is already buildable?
-
I'm guessing no, since Vetruvius' staff isn't a used lollipop stick mold... I'm thinking Lego will leave it up to us to make both of these characters "movie accurate" if we really want. :) The real question is will it include the original helmet mold?

LEGO Collectable Minifigures - The LEGO Movie Series Discussion
DPrime replied to Klaus-Dieter's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Since they didn't do up a new mold for the Morgan Freeman's character's staff, I imagine they won't give us a "broken" helmet. I'd like to see the Classic Space helmet return; probably no more than an even chance at that, though. He should have a distinct face, though. -

Not bad, not bad. Even if it doesn't attach to a larger ship, I'd be pretty pleased to see that in stores. :)- 2,626 replies

The LEGO Movie Sets News and Discussion
DPrime replied to Itaria No Shintaku's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Yeah, I like what it seems they're doing here... the sets' official builds look like something a kid might create, which is a really cool aesthetic for this kind of film. I don't know if I dig it enough to buy them, though... Maybe for the parts, we'll see. It seems like some of them are obvious (bus/van something, Castle), but others not so much. Should be interesting! Me neither... or maybe I'm just getting my hopes up. :) Didn't know that was his name. But yeah, hopefully... I'm not sure what you mean by "soul remake" (spiritual successor?), but I think I'd rather see something new, than just a remake. Though I suppose a slightly updated Galaxy Explorer or something would be cool. 6985 too, though it seems much less iconic for such a thing... I don't expect we'll see any light grey, but that's fine, I suppose. :)- 2,626 replies

Kind of disappointed we haven't seen some kind of Classic Space themed set... or at least blue 1980s space guy. But I guess we still have some surprises left. Here's hoping!- 2,626 replies

LEGO Collectable Minifigures - The LEGO Movie Series Discussion

They kind of look like zombies from afar. Ripped clothes and what not. :) Plu, I think the kind of act like zombies in that one scene from the new trailer... -
LEGO Collectable Minifigures - The LEGO Movie Series Discussion
DPrime replied to Klaus-Dieter's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Yeah, having seen the new trailer now, I'm thinking the same thing. If we get some kind of new (or even reissued) Classic Space set through this line I'm going to cry a little. For joy. :) As for this series... We'll see. I really only tend to get the warriors and sci-fi figures. But if I end up loving this movie (and I suspect I might!), who knows? A lot of people seem to be hating on the drones/zombie/robots, but if these are the army-builders of the film (perhaps requiring some mods in terms of clothing, hair, etc.) I could see the haters changing their tune... -

Aww, no blue 1980-something Space Guy? :( -
Cool! But I hope they keep it in line with the Neo-Classic Space feel. :)
