I’d love to see a Technic log flume or Rapids ride. So I’m happy to see a deviation here

I remember these from years ago. Never saw one that went inverted, I do remember some had slightly angled boards you leant against and as it sped up the board slid up a bit and lifted your feet off the ground. I never went on one as I knew it would make me motion sick

[MOC] Ferrari Testarossa

Fantastic model, you’ve captured the lines really well. It’s amazing how low and wide these are, someone at work has one as their toy. Unfortunately I don’t fit in it very well, too tall. -
So here’s my work in progress as I managed to get a couple of hours of brainstorming time. Everyone else is going modern theme park rides, I thought I’d go old school. May I present “The Whip”, the reason I’ve gone for this is the seaside town I grew up in had a small amusement park and I used to love going on this ride. However the original is from 1914 and was at Coney Island, New York, a few thousand miles from my home town. So the first thing to work out was the basic mechanism attached to each cart. Here’s the fruits of my labour after many discussions with Pythagoras to get the main triangle right. The orange beams behind the track are to hold the track straight while building this module. And here’s a basic profile I’ve been working on for how the thrill-seekers will sit. not sure when my next build time will be. But next task will be to build up the cart. Then the small task of working out how many they will be on the ride. I’m thinking 10 might be a good number. Enjoy

I normally do text and then picture. I think it’s a personal and perhaps cultural preference thing -
[REVIEW] 42083 - Bugatti Chiron
Seasider replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Great review @Jim I’m glad you published it. I really like the model and the build process, I think it took me a week of 2 hr stints to build mine but I was taking it slowly and being very OCD with it. The W16 is unique to Bugatti for production cars but did appear in some concepts from other Group brands. You can get a W12 in other cars ;) I still haven’t built the Porsche yet but from its looks alone I’d agree and put this above it, especially as I’m building the Porsche with the Eurobricks “official” basic mod pack for correcting the gearbox and drivetrain flaws. For the colour I’m glad they did 2 tone blue, this is classic Bugatti, I couldn’t imagine Lego releasing a Ferrari model not in Red or Yellow so why would the Bugatti be any different. My only negative on the models are I wish they had done a grey tube across the sill as opposed to the sticker and I don’t like the shaping I’ve the bonnet or outboard of the lamps by the front arch. But minor niggles for me really. The back end is just plain sexy, but then it is on the real thing too (having seen one in “the flesh”). @Jim - I’m viewing this on my iPad (iOS 11.4) and your clicky pictures don’t appear I just get the “hands” instead. -
Sorry for the second Question @Jim but as we can use 3rd party strings etc would there be any issue with using springs extracted from Technic Shock Absorbers as a stand alone part ?

Generic Contest Discussion
Seasider replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I’d allow the other controllers, I only have the standard Lego stuff. as to bumper cars / dodgem that reminds me I still need to rebuild and finish the one I originally started with the Wacky Races comp im thinking classic fairground ride myself and Technic fig scale -

Creator Expert Cars - Rumors, Discussion, and Speculation

You’re right The BTTF Delorean set makes all 3 versions of the car. But that’s on a mid-scale, far smaller than the Creator vehicles -
Creator Expert Cars - Rumors, Discussion, and Speculation
Seasider replied to SheldonF's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Although I’m a big/massive bond fan (spy who loved me is my favourite) I actually hope that the car is a standard DB5 and not with the modifications or at least can be built in either bond or standard form. All the other vehicles are normal vehicles not “fantasy” ones and I hope the creator line doesn’t go down that route -
Not having tried to construct my own gearbox, well at least not one of any worth, how easy would it be to create a multiple fwd and single reverse gearbox but make it long in length instead of compressed in length but "boxy" - is this at all possible ? this could then mean a small "transmission tunnel"

42083 - Bugatti Chiron
Seasider replied to Jurss's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Finished mine last night and it’s currently on display in the engineering office where I work. It’s getting lots of attention. i like the model a lot it was very enjoyable to build. theres a few holes I don’t like, the ones on the front wing mainly, but for a model built out of primarily Technic parts I don’t think you could do a lot better. i do love the dash/ip shaping and the stickers work well here and the new gearbox is great. mine is suffering slightly with the front suspension but it looks ok -

Opinions on LEGO Technic Theme
Seasider replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I'm "quite" happy with Lego and Technic at the moment. I know I'm never going to like everything or buy everything, partly as I'm wondering if i should scale back my spending or even sell off old Lego sets that now just sit in boxes. But back on topic ... I do like having a different B-model to the A and part of that is down to liking some of the B-models more than the A. The bigger issues I have at the moment is the trend is to bigger and more expensive sets. I've bought both the "UCS" sets but I'm also of the opinion that bigger doesn't mean better. It's also tough with ideas and themes, how do you come up with something new each time ? I think that with the Technic we generally have a good rotation of model themes covering lots of different things including some very interesting and unusual vehicles. I like the Extreme Off-Roader, but the recent hovercraft with mini truck was a bit odd. -
Bit disappointed by the B model myself as I prefer them to be different to the A. But I do get it as it’s part of similar construction equipment for building the Grey Building. this might go on the maybe list now

42083 - Bugatti Chiron
Seasider replied to Jurss's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I've only built Box 1, bags 1-3, so far and I've enjoyed the process of the Modular build. I was planning on building the Chiron completely as per the instructions before MODs but my OCD wouldn't let me and I've made the rear suspension assemblies as symmetrical rather than duplicate assemblies. It took a few hours but I'm doing a slow careful build and enjoying the quality of the instructions and complexity of the model. I think I did a slow hour building the gearbox module as I was working out its relationships/mechanism as it was being slowly built up. I'm hoping to have a crack at building box 2 this week, but didn't get a chance last night and I'm off out tonight. For some context I've got the Porsche but not built it yet and I work in the Engineering end of the Car Industry (a production line is a short walk from my desk) For the Porsche I'm going to build it with the Eurobricks light MOD/fix pack.
