Prizes aren’t a factor in entering a competition, the challenge and enjoyment are. looking forward to the next comp @Jim hope you give us a nice amount of building time -
Hi everyone, You do all realise that the Chiron is only available in LHD. also the engine is meant to be exposed, it doesn’t have a glass cover like a Ferrari or a Lambo as to MODs, I don’t care about HOG as it’s not a play model, but a fix to the potentially sagging suspension and a better W16 option would be nice. i think I’ll end up keeping mine stock though

If I remember correctly it was some posters / desktop wallpapers with the Porsche code ... and if I remember correctly someone used Jim’s code from shots from his review before he used it himself -

I was about to say you do realise Bugatti and Porsche all fall into the VW Group. So does Lamborghini and so does Bentley ;) -

A question for everyone. How do you feel about the stickers? A print/sticker of some kind is obviously needed to represent the shape of the door and dash amongst other things. Printed pieces - more “quality” look but may be difficult to print on some pieces Stickers - means you don’t have to apply them and so can use the parts for other models. Also means parts that aren’t in Lego’s standard printed piece set can have images on -

So the reveal is 3pm Europe time tomorrow? Is that when it’s going to become available online? I’m travelling in Ireland at the moment so hoping to get online tomorrow late afternoon and order one. i think it’s a real shame about all the leaks, especially as they have invited a very diverse audience for the unveiling including some motoring journalists (shmee150 is rumoured to be going). I think they’ll try and improve this for the next one in the series. i haven’t watched the video, but I’ve seen the pics that surfaced a couple of days back. so the question is when I build the Porsche do I build it in the original Lego condition (with the gears swapped) or do I include the mild Eurobricks upgrade kit that was 15-20 parts I think that I have waiting next to the Porsche model? -

I don’t get why people are moaning about the colour combo. Two tone blue is classic Bugatti. As to the rims they’re meant to represent the ones on the actual car that come in blue and not black. I’d be moaning if they weren’t blue. Its kind of like doing a Ferrari in red, it just is. i like the idea of the full size key mock-up. I wonder if it operates the wing, if I remember correctly on the veyron the drivers key was used to lock the wing down if you wanted to achieve Vmax (as it creates too much drag). as to the luggage it fits in the nose storage area (frunk as they’re called) and was designed by Armani, so I do get including this as it’s part of the whole Bugatti ownership experience. The McLaren F1 used to have a bespoke luggage set for its storage areas too just to prove it’s not unusual in supercars also I think the stickers do a very good job for the interior. It would be nice for more printed parts but capturing the detail of the door trim and the Instrument Panel with the tan and the black were obviously important. Especially for a car where the interior style is as important as the exterior -

To those of you saying the colour vomit is unique to Technic you haven’t built any recent Speed Champions, Microfighters, Ideas sets of Creator Expert vehicles. They all have them. i think sometimes it’s so you can then easily understand the orientation of the images in the instructions. as to the new leaks, it’s a real shame this has happened but with these new parts it’s a day 1 purchase for me. I’ve still not built the Porsche and I even went to the extent of buying the few extra pieces for the “Eurobricks” basic upgrade. i think the W16 will be on top of the gearbox. also don’t forget there needs to be a mechanism to switch the spoiler between 3 positions, down up and braking. roll on the full reveal on the 1st -
Thanks for your detailed replies. The wheels/tyres will be Porsche/Bugatti ones which I believe are the same size and from my estimations the same scale. but for the project I’m talking about the exterior shape is the critical part. So I was after what process to the expert modellers here use to create the body shape and then do overlays on the blueprints? the chassis is the easy part
-
Hello all, please bear with me if this has been asked before. I’d like to attempt to build a scaled mode of a vehicle, predominantly in Technic with some System accents if required. The important part of the build will be the exterior look of the model. I’ve used Sariels scaler and LDD a bit but how do people normally start? And how do people do the overlay images of the virtual brick builds they have over a blueprint? I’ll also be using a Mac to add a bit of further complexity. any pointers?

The Chiron will be built differently to the Porsche in real life. It’s not built on a line as far as I’m aware and is built around the central tub. So the engine marriage stage will be more like on an F40. -

Definitely got a deplorable spoiler, it’s down in 1 picture and up in the other. I’m hoping it also goes into braking position too. oh I’ve seen the car ... well the full size Chiron I mean at Frankfurt motor show last year :) -

the stick on the centre console will be to shift between Park, Neutral, Reverse and Drive. Paddles will then be used to shift the gears. -

I don’t think they’ll end up with the range in the same scale. the creator series of cars/vehicles (VW camper, beetle, mini, f40, routemaster) are all different scales and the UCS Star Wars vehicles are all different scales too However one thing in favour of them being the same (or at least very similar scale) is that when you do a calc on the effective wheel/tyre diameter I don’t think the GT3 and the Chiron are a million miles apart
