  1. No just BrickLink :) Someone before mentioned using System tiles or baseboards, but I want to keep the model Technic. another 64 5x11 panels ordered ... if anyone in Europe runs short in years to come you know who to ask :)
  2. As a fan of Technic aircraft that’s an amazing model
  3. That’s the danger do not cross line for the riders
  4. An update from me. Haven’t had a lot of building time before today as I’ve been busy with work and away at weekends. But today I had the day off to recover from watching the Spa 24hr Race. So what have I done ... first I worked out the curve for the end with a good old fashioned pencil and paper. Then today I converted the shape into this. The good news is I like the shape I’ve got. The bad news is I need a lot more grey panels!
  5. It was meant as a personal comment. I was looking forward to this model as I think it looks impressive but I’d like a smoother movement when it’s rotation is powered. Just a personal preference. I was actually thinking that it was down to backlash. so for me it puts me off a bit. but perhaps if I find it in a sale I’ll buy it and convert it to manual for all movement
  6. I'm still not sure about this set. I would have hoped for a smoother rotation of the main turntable, its very stop/start
  7. I'm liking the Forklift more and more. I think this might be my main H2 purchase Looking forward to your reviews @Jim
  8. At least I no longer have to worry about the only person working with a large model! looks impressive
  9. Looks like a good model but I’d suggest it needs some more tweaks to be a 155. I knew a guy who converted his 155 to be a DTM replica. He built all the bumpers from photos Id modify the bonnet. It needs to be sloped instead of flat, if you look at the side profile it’s quite sloped. It was part of the main style features with the small headlights. I’d say the front end is more 75 style than 155 at the moment
  10. But the Chiron doesn’t come in RHD it’s only available in LHD.
  11. I’ve just checked the John Lewis site and then Argos. It doesn’t appear on the Argos site so I’m guessing that’s what John Lewis means by exclusive. It’s buy it from Lego or JL, but I may be wrong.
  12. You’ll definitely need some form of deceleration device at the bottom of the drop. If the passenger car hits the bottom with no pre-braking mechanism the resulting deceleration on the rides occupants will be fatal causing both spinal and brain injuries ... all to scale of course ;)
  13. I'd just ditch the "inverted" part of your ride and see what angle you can sensibly get to. if you went to "almost" vertical like the video mocbuild has posted then that would still be very impressive and representative of something real world
  14. Thanks for the comments. the scale of the build has been driven by the size of a Technic shock and good old Pythagoras. I wanted the mechanism to work as per the real ride and so that gave it a certain scale. i then thought making it Technic figure size would be good. As to using base plates or tiles I don’t have any MOC stock of normal System Lego so it would all be add to me and I want to try and do 100% Technic or as near to it as possible. as to the amount of final panels ... haven’t worked that out yet but if anyone runs short in future competitions of light grey panels they know who to ask :)
  15. I have all these vehicles and although I can pick faults in all of them I'm pretty happy with them but this just doesn't capture the shape and the emotion of the DB5 to me. this may be the first i don't buy
  16. I did an hour or so on this last night and after a few iterations managed to work out a track width for the straight run and also the lower part of the guide for the “drive belt”. Looking at this I realise this is going to be huge even with 7 cars but then the ride needs a decent straight between the bends to be realistic of the real rides. Next task is to either work out an end curve or do some more on the drive belt guide and central structure
  17. Some updates from me. I thought I better work out the overall size of the ride so today I’ve been working on the frame to hold the drive. first of all I had the idea of 10 cars but when I realised I have 20 track pieces per car I suddenly saw how massive this was going to get. So I’ve gone for the 7 car option. This means the track is a decent amount shorter and also it will alternate between which end is whipping a car. So first of all I started with this this then got reworked to this some of the structure is WIP and I need to look at the springs as they’re flexing slightly. if I get a chance tomorrow I’ll work on the floor the cars roll on and work out how many grey 5x11 panels I’ll be getting from BrickLink in the meantime I decided I needed a few more figures so here are the motley line up
  18. I remember seeing one of these years ago I think at Alton Towers or Chessington in the UK. Looked totally insane
  19. V1 for sure. It’s the sort of thing you see on real rides.
  20. Bionicle is Lego so I don’t see why not. We can use System stuff, so I would assume we could use Bionicle or Duplo if we wanted. As long as the model ends up clearly being a Technic one
  21. I think this competition is going to spawn a load of very large models. I did an initial play at sizing for mine and discovered my initial thoughts mean it’s gigantic. your model looks great so far. Colour scheme works well
  22. How have you transferred the drive though 90deg for your wheels? I need to do something similar to drive my belt on my ride
  23. Well I didn't want to write DEATHS ! ... I could theoretically do some g calculations and then give you some Head Injury values ... but I think it'll be in the very high type classification
  24. I think you might have some complaints with the ride going that fast ! Great looking model though
