[MOC] Rock Raiders; Rock Transport Unit
Peppermint_M replied to LegoMathijs's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Oh I love this! It is very cool It really captures the spirit of the theme and the era. I bet the return of teal to LEGO has been very helpful for your builds. Thanks for sharing it and looking forward to your next MOC.- 5 replies

Eurobricks event #15 Günzburg - information topic
Peppermint_M replied to Holodoc's topic in LEGO Events and User Groups
What are people's opinions on Travelodge or Holiday Inn? There are a few in the area. -
Thanks guys This MOC hung around for ages as I had a plan on the for the wings and the cockpit but without any ideas for the engine it just sat in a box with the parts I liked the look of until I got the eureka moment. Good job it came out how I (and you) like it.

Using 1x or 2x wide bricks for buildings?
Peppermint_M replied to AxelE55's topic in General LEGO Discussion
2x brick is for filler and foundations! Honesty my only use for them these days. -
Fabuland Builders Guild - Discussion Thread
Peppermint_M replied to Shadows's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Special Themes is the name of this section of the forum, the one that this topic/thread is in. Special sounds a lot better than: Miscellaneous stuff we can't figure out where else to put. Fabuland is one of the themes that is housed in this section. Just Like Action and Adventure Themes (Of which I am moderator) is home to Ninjago. As such, if you want to share with us a Fabuland MOC, or funny photo, or anything Fabuland, you can post here in this section of the forum. -
Goodbury Mechanicals is proud to present the Sparrowhawk, a new aeroplane utilising Jet-Propulsion! Designed with the aim to break the sound barrier, hopefully the first to do so. The plane has been put through its paces and will be ready to try for the speed record soon, our brave pilot is ready to take off. It has been a while since I built Sky-Fi, or added anything to the Goodbury product line. So here is the Sparrowhawk, I love to use dark tan and metallic shades. The speed champion hubcaps look great for vents and I used binoculars to create the pew-pews. Top View, shows off the angles I used in construction, it is also useful to show off the printed/stickered tiles I used for flare. Side view, shows off the sides of the jet engine. Unusually for me, I built this plane fuselage first. I most often create the engine/propulsion unit and put the wings and cockpit around it. It took me ages to decide the best engine type to use for the fuselage I had created. The "egg" parts make for a super mean looking engine that could power a plane to unknowable speeds. The rear view of the jets. I love using the ninjago spinner crowns for planes, they just look so cool! I hope you enjoy my SkyFi MOC, it is a genre I love and one I have not shared a pane from in a long while. Comments etc are welcome.

How to tell Light Grey from Light Bluish Grey?
Peppermint_M replied to Merkurius's topic in General LEGO Discussion
The old grey dyes had lead in. At the time the dye was used, the lead levels that were in the finished plastic were deemed "safe" by the powers that be. Regulations have tightened up since then (especially for children's toys) and public attitude is more concerned about things like lead levels near children, so LEGO changed the dyes so there was no lead in them. My Aunt is mad about this sort of thing, so will always ask me if my little cousin is safe playing with my Uncle's old LEGO (It is, you would have to lodge an old grey brick inside yourself for decades for the lead to be harmful). -

As an FYI for people, there is a weeks school holiday in the UK from 27th of May to the 31st May. The 27th is a Bank Holiday. -
Part tablescrap and part experiment with crossposting from Instagram. Enjoy!

Eurobricks event #15 Günzburg - information topic
Peppermint_M replied to Holodoc's topic in LEGO Events and User Groups
It isn't a bad date for me, but being as I am not a Harry Potter fan, I think I'll give that bit a miss. Though there are a fair few people who will be at Brickworld who would normally come, more of an overlap than you'd think, so are the dates set in stone? -

Thanks, high praise indeed from a big fan of classic castle It was a lot of fun to build and great fun to display too, castles really are part of the fabric of Wales so all the local children learn about at least one historic site.

MOC: The Great Sphinx
Peppermint_M replied to Peppermint_M's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I had to have both crews. I want to include more characters once I expand the diorama, including a few more of my own adventurers. Thank you This was the one theme I was absolutely in love with and the pages of the catalogue. When I was ten, I was super into my Horrible Histories books and my Awesome Egyptians book was my favourite of those, so Mum decided that the Sphinx was the perfect present (She was super correct). You can also see why he may be known as Johnny Thunder, but he was Sam Grant to me. The colour scheme was always going to remain, no matter what! Thanks everyone for the kind words.- 24 replies

Okay, can the dedicated show discussion remain in the show thread please? It makes it hard to pick out the Set discussion when entire posts are focused on the cartoon meta-data. Thanks.
-
Okay, can we have mature and adult conversations here on the forum? The point of the discussion is our thoughts on the 2019 line-up and whether we like them/want certain ones. What I now see is a big old pile of wishlisting for "dream" sets and members having personal arguments. So, can people return to a civil discussion on topic and behave like mature adults?

MOC: The Great Sphinx
Peppermint_M replied to Peppermint_M's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Thanks! I started making it to match the original set/actual Sphinx and it didn't feel right. This is a Sphinx in the world of LEGO Minifigures, so the head would of course look like their own. I love minifigures, these are a mixture of original and LEGO set figures. #Studloverforlife I like the clean look for spacecrafts (sometimes) but studs are LEGO and LEGO is studs so I have to show them off.- 24 replies

Sphinx Secret Surprise was my favourite childhood LEGO set. It was released Twenty Years ago! I have created a tribute to the main feature of the set, The Great Sphinx. I adored the set, my largest ever single LEGO set as a child and I adored the Adventure theme. Egyptology was one of my real interests when I was a child and I was about the only eight year old who wanted to be an Archaeologist. So, I just had to create a tribute. A MOC that was a representation of the set as I saw it in my minds eye as I played. Deep in the desert many adventurers and archaeologists have descended upon the Great Spinx to seek out treasures and clues to the mysteries they pursue. The front elevation. As with the original set there is a concealed secret... Surprise! The black statue is a the key to a simple mechanism that reveals the Pharaoh on his throne. Pulling the base forward causes the throne platform to move forward and knock down the panel. A view from above. This is one of my larger builds. Only beaten out by my Yellow Castle . The two side views. One features my favourite little capra and the other a statue uncovered in the base of the Sphinx's plinth. Here some tricksy tomb thieves are about to meet a freaky foe! Jake Raines and his friends have made a find and are hoping for more. Meanwhile, Johnny Thunder and Doctor Lightning have been very successful in their dig. Gale Storm is documenting the moment. What a shot! I hope you enjoyed this MOC. I certainly had fun building it and it has gone down very well with LEGO fans young and old alike when I display it. I hope to create versions of the other features of the set on a similar scale to this MOC. I also want to have something of an Adventure layout to display, I'll of course share them here once I make them.

Wire really is the best solution, with the right gauge wire, you can thread it in and shape the tube, then once you are finished you can straighten the tube and pull the wire out if you want.

That's some good shaping to make a Mammoth head out of CCB parts, I always end up making things out of bricks to get a shape. Thanks for sharing and keep on posting!

Which forum does my MOC/topic belong in?
Peppermint_M replied to Stormbringer's topic in Forum Information and Help
I'll go and take a look -
We have somewhere for that. Action and Adventure Themes is home of LEGO Elves. There is and Index for all the MOCs too. I'll move this thread across to the right section and I hope you enjoy using the forum.

Creator sets are also good parts packs. They are designed for building a few models, so there are useful parts included.

Mint In Sealed Box. A set or object never opened, never unsealed. I do not go for it, I had a backlog during my major collection sorting project (I am a builder first and foremost) so I didn't want to open any sets that I would need to sort out. I then worked through those when I was able to. Personally, a toy is to be played with. By all means keep the box in nice condition, keep the instructions safe and keep the stickers packed. That way you preserve the set but still get to enjoy it.

Peppermint_M replied to Stormbringer's topic in Forum Information and Help
Any image host is fine, the forums can't hold all user pictures so we ask people to use an external site. So post away I am looking forward to seeing this mammoth.
