LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 11 Rumours & Discussion
8BrickMario replied to CM4Sci's topic in Special LEGO Themes
P.S. This series allows for some terrible puns, one of which is in my sig! Yeti-Coolest minifig Gingerbread Man-Sweetest minifig! Not really a surprise, as September's a while away now. LEGO is just giving us a mean teaser. We all want to see more, but it's going to take some time. Any way to contact the person who took the photo of the first five? -

I concede, but I was asking why someone said the photo was real and linked us to the Hothbricks page, where it said absolutely nothing to prove his point. The Girls' LEGO magazine says they will be a September release. With that and the Ewok Village....ugh. This year is killing my money. -

This is supposedly real, but I didn't see it anywhere on the Hothbricks page we were given a link to. How do we know it's real? Dark Olive? What do you mean by that? -

Aw, no candy cane. The Elf is our last hope! Cross your fingers! P.S. With my current device, I can't see the pic.EDIT: Now I have. I really want a Bigfoot recolor of the Yeti as well. So happy to hear the pic is real, but I misread it and worried for a second, thinking it said, "It's not real, it's a custom" instead of vice versa. It's refreshing to see real pics before CG renders. (Or at least the ones on the cases) This way, I really know what's in the bag, as the faces can differ from the renders, since they are used as slightly different models for the minifig's printing. I hope Gingy's head will be flat, but maybe as thick as the torso, to avoid a messed-up side view. Gotta say, not super impressed, but they do have the frosting cuffs on his wrists, so I like that. Hope we get a full-body shot soon! -
Sir Sidious, what do you mean, "'E' as the number"? Some more (A few pronunciations seem obvious to me, but that could vary): SNOT- phonetically BURP- ditto here DSS- no vowels here, so I say the letters individually Technic- Tek-nick Polybag- Polly bag Mini-doll figure- $!&@#*!!!

Just saw the pic!!! My 2 cents: Yeti- This guy exceeded my expectations by a lot. I didn't think they would use a new mold on him, but the husky head and chest piece is fantastic! His face reminds me of the Castle trolls, but cuter and in blue. The popsicle is great, too. I love him, and he's a perfectly adorable minifig for Christmas. Lady Robot: Like the Alien Villainess, lipstick and eyelash printing makes apparently head feminine. The dials in the machinery printing are a clever and slightly weird touch, as I wondered how they'd make her look like a lady, aside from coloration. Although nice, not as good as the fantastic Yeti, who, as of the currently revealed minifigs, is my favorite. I do hope her key isn't pink. Her neck bracket is gray, but the key isn't visible. She would work well in Friends, as Olivia's second robot creation, maybe? Welder: His headgear is nice, and so is his equipment. Not too interesting to me, though. I'm not much of a civvy fan, which is why I like this series more than 10. He's cool, though. Evil Mech: Now this is so much better (and less anime-ish) than the Battle Mech. The printing on helmet and armor is cool, and the visible head print is great! I really like robots and such, and he's better than the lady. So this series has finished off the palette swaps of the CMF machines! (Robot-Evil, Clockwork-Lady, Battle Mech-Evil) The gun is questionable. It looks like the old Battle Droid guns from SW. Maybe it's to make him look tougher and bulkier? Female Scientist- I like her blue rubber gloves. However, her hair makes her look too much like the Nurse. Not too fantastic, but I will get her for the flasks, which were leaked in the S10 "preliminaries" with the Librarian, who went by "Female Scientist" at the beginning. The flasks will make great potions! The three I wish I could see next are the Grandma, Gingerbread Man (to halt the racism and sterotyping discussion) and the Elf. With the Yeti, the Elf, and the Mountain Climber, no wonder S11's arriving before Christmas! -

I was an idiot about the Geisha cultural origin. I wasn't thinking! -
Ah. I had no idea it was called that, I would have called it a "interior corner side brick" or whatever. Thank you!

Review: 70008 - Gorzan’s Gorilla Striker

EDIT: The Gorilla Tribe is one of the better ones to me. The only silly-looking one is G'Loona, 'cause she's, well, g'loony.- 42 replies

Ah, I see. I didn't understand. But now (re)starts the debate about the possibility of the figures. Answer: they can't be fully transparent. Why does everyone care about them so much anyway? It's a cool little scene that lasts a few seconds. Not too much to get upset about.

PRETZEL EDIT: The German Baker's Guild sign: Maybe it's acceptable to have the pretzel in either rotation?
-
Well, that would discourage people from the set, which would ruin its purpose. The minifigs are some of the greatest appeal to the set, so to remarket them in exclusives would take away the appeal to some extent.

Great review. While I don't like Chima, I'll probably make an exception for this. I like that the flick-fires are deployed by pegs, as opposed to hurting your fingers. Why did the word "expression" glitch out?- 42 replies

As long as Snootles doesn't have CW eyes, I'm good. But I think she would be difficult to make, due to her bizarre physiology. Poseablility would be very tricky as well.

Who are you replying to? It would be best to quote them, as a the conversation has strayed quite a bit from Orthanc.

I agree with what Auntie Anne's has done with pretzels. The company with an enormous ego that you can't go to a mall near me without seeing one. But the pretzel is always in the heart-like rotation. And Series 8's Lederhosen Guy. He holds the pretzel that way in his artwork. But that's LEGO too, and probably irrelevant.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 11 Rumours & Discussion
8BrickMario replied to CM4Sci's topic in Special LEGO Themes
LEGO has the whole "refer to the obvious as something obscure" trend with the CMFs, save for some "no other way to name them" ones, like Medusa and The Monster. But the Grandma Visitor? Really? It's cute, but at the same time, seems like it was forced and awkward alternate naming of the sweet little girl who brought treats to dear old Granny (next series!). I can see how blatant names like "The Mexican" or "The Chinese Geisha Lady" (okay, a little exaggerated) could be considered offensive due to it sounding uninformed about the culture, and thus prone to sterotyping. The names work fine, as they are nice little nicknames kids will understand and sound intelligent enough. -
Yes, and the Nurse's lips aren't as thick and are longer...GAH! What is wrong with me? I need to take a break.

Lego Superheroes 2013 Rumours & Discussion
8BrickMario replied to CorneliusMurdock's topic in LEGO Licensed
A page back, it was said that LEGO doesn't do things off of the games. What about the Arkham City Freeze and Robin minifigures? Or did you mean sets? -
Good to know of another Ewok-lover. Some people will have aversions to anything. Jar Jar, sure, but Ewoks? To avoid heated debate now, that is the most entertaining price-over-content struggle I have heard of. Your wife is pretty cool, judging by her savvy reaction to the Council of Elrond set, detailed earlier in the LotR/Hobbit thread. Hope that the Village doesn't become another living room attraction, though!
-
^^Yep, she's Series 1, but that's not the Nurse's head! It's actually the S4's Surfer Girl's. They're very similar, but the smiles point in different directions. I only know this because 1. I am a CMF lover and expert and 2. I had the Character Encyclopedia on hand. You're best at the topic you love most, and the Minifigures are one of such things for me.

For some reason, the price in the review remains to be about $50 when it is around $30.
-
So if you're going by titles, Deathleech, will the next wave have Aragorn or the White Tree of Gondor in the box art? I do think the White City is pretty likely, though.
