Lego Superheroes 2013 Rumours & Discussion
8BrickMario replied to CorneliusMurdock's topic in LEGO Licensed
What do you mean, "doesn't have material?" There are plenty of classic villains that haven't been made, like Mad Hatter and Man-Bat! There's also Ra's Al Ghul, Hush, etc. There's lots of possibilities, they just haven't done them. (We also need a new Killer Croc....) -
Well, he's a pretty messed-up baby! But seriously, he doesn't look threatening, but I like the eccentric look of him! Well, they'll do anything not to give him a dome-shaped helmet...

Okay! I hope people reply, though...

It's supposed to be Tim Drake....... -
I wanted to hear you guys' opinions/comparisons of the old and new Batman villain minifigs. Here are mine: (mind you, these are all opinions!) I will say whether they are better in their redesigns, worse, or about the same quality. Bane: The first Bane was well designed, but it looked like he had a large snout, and in all of the pictures of him I have seen, the print on the mouth area looks badly done. Only thing I have going for him is the reasonably sized belt. The new one has a better face, color scheme, and back printing. The belt is too large. New= about same quality (sorry, not much commentary on TDKR Bane, but it's a good representation) Catwoman: One of the 3 on my "most improved" list, the new Catwoman is much better. The old one's torso printing looked awkward (though not as much as Black Widow ) and the cowl did not match well with the head. The new one is much better, and you can turn around the head and put it on a black-dressed minifig and you have a cool Selina Kyle! The pictures of her make the new cowl look weird, but it is very nice in real life. New= Better! Harley Quinn: Both minifigures retain the same costume and hat, but the new Harley does look more realistic. The old one had ridiculous blue eyes which made her look overly cartoony. In an interesting reversal, the mask design has been made less angular, and the collar more so. New= About same Mr. Freeze: This is the only Batman villain where I prefer the old minifigure. The old one had a more favorable appearance to me, depicting the emotionless Freeze with classic goggles. His torso didn't need printing, because the 'fig looked really good already. The new one is in no way bad, in fact, it's a faithful representation of Mr. Freeze from Batman: Arkham City. The only problem is that I don't like that is based off of Arkham City! I wish they had done a redesign of the old appearance. I don't like the source material they went with for the new one. Not worse, but certainly not better! New= Not better Poison Ivy: One of the other "Most Improved" minifigures. The old one had Dumbledore's hair in dark red, rare but not creative. Her face is simple, depicting a sly grin in about the same quality as other '06 minifigures. Her torso is well done with a plant cover on her chest. One annoying thing was THAT ONE LEAF. The one to the side of her costume, taunting us all! Her legs are simple enough. Sand green with a bright green hip joint. Not very interesting. The new Ivy is SO much better! Her hair is one of 4 I know in Brick Red (the others being the first hairpiece ever, Dyna-Mite, and the Circus Clown). It has a few stray leaves printed on it, making it the 3rd time the hairpiece has been printed (Hula Dancer, Narcissa Malfoy). Her grin is a little too cheeky for me, but it works. She also has an angry face. Her body is printed with a lime green bodysuit and vines! New= So much better! The Joker: Surprisingly little to say here! His newer torso is far better detailed, but besides that, both styles are accurate to Joker! New= About Same The Penguin: The older one had a more definitive fat belly and slightly more menacing face, but the new one is great, too! Neither face has a crooked nose, though it would take some printing ingenuity to manage that on a small head! I do like that the new Penguin is wearing light lilac; it seems just like the ridiculous "rich" color he would wear! New= About Same The Riddler: I like the new one better, but it is not on my "Most Improved" list. The old one's hair didn't seem very accurate, and his face just looked weird. Pained/Constipated, not insane. The old one is good because it has a "wimpy" torso. What's up with the new Riddler?!? He's not supposed to be muscular! What I would like to see is a third version wearing a green suit (not Spandex), a green bowler hat, and a new mold for his cane! New= Better for the most part The Scarecrow: The final on my "Most Improved" for a number of reasons! The old one was flawed in that its head was glow-in-the-dark. In '06, they hadn't mastered concealing the GitD aspect, so Scarecrow's face, when not glowing, looked like snot. NOT the building style! His face also strikes me as a little TOO dark and creepy for LEGO. The new one has superb detailing on front and back, and a new brown wizard hat. There is the one macabre element on both Scarecrows: The rope around their necks securing the mask..... New= Better! Two-Face: Both share the same hairpiece, and the old one has a frown on both sides. He wears an split black-and-white suit, closer dictating his schizophrenia. The new one's face uses the newer color of light lilac and has no pupil on the scarred eye. The "Harvey Dent" side is now smirking. For a more comic-styled iteration, the new Two-Face's suit is orange and purple, and brings more color to the theme. Because it is comic-y and colorful, I actually don't mind the color scheme, like many people do. New= Almost/Slightly better I'd like to hear your replies!

Lego Superheroes 2013 Rumours & Discussion

I like the new Super Heroes Robin just fine, but his face bugs me for one reason. You can't do anything with it outside of action scenes! LEGO's last chance to give him a casual/happy face is in the upcoming Robin and Redbird Cycle polybag. It doesn't look too good if you have Robin and Batman talking casually while Robin looks like he's about to prank Batman! The old face, even if I could get it, is too young! (that last sentence sounded contradictory!) I hope that LEGO will give Robin a more casual face, but I can't expect it. What do you think? -
Thank you! I've had a lot of fun being able to contribute instead of just read!

Hi! I, as my username probably tells you, am a LEGO and Nintendo fan, but LEGO came my way first. Even though I started building in 2008, I learned quickly and can finish off a build quickly when I put my mind to it. (The Monster Fighters Haunted House took me a day and 30 minutes, including breaks.) I am always happy to have access to old sets, pieces, and minifigures, as I had missed out on a lot. The only theme that I think does not have better old set than new is Star Wars. It is constantly improving! (except for the price.... ) I am glad I joined, and you'll probably see me a lot on the Series 10 (Minifigures) thread, as I cannot wait for it to come out! I do think that LEGO forgot about me, as they will be released a week after my birthday, though! See you around! By the way, in case you're wondering what my picture is, it's an edited-out Medusa from the Series 10 art. It is "shadow-ified" and standing next to her are her two statues: the Cyclops and the Minotaur.

Well done! I built the hammer myself and Harley is wearing a big grin! Maybe Joker gave it to her as a "shut-up-about-being-my-girlfriend" present!

The crest may be removable, as the rest of the helmet is the same as the Roman Soldier's. His helmet had a hole in the top for putting things in.- 1,076 replies

I know because all of the other minifigs from the series use their prelim heads. It only makes sense for the beta expression to be an alternate face. I hope this is true, but I'm not sure.- 1,076 replies

My thoughts: Sea Captain: I don't think he is my type of minifigure, but he will be nice to have. I hope LEGO will recolor the seagull in the future to make a raven! Sad Clown: My favorite of the Clowns, because he's not as creepy! I like the old-fashioned look of him, but not too much play value. Librarian: Love the look of her. Ginny Weasley's hair in brown is really nice. Love the "Shhh" mug and "Oranges and Peaches" book. Grandpa: I don't know about this one. His "hair" piece looks like it doesn't blend in well. I do like the old-timey paper, though. Bumblebee Girl: This is a unique animal costume. I do like the Fairy's wings in "foggy clear". The pot isn't as useful. but the idea is cute. Roman Commander: I really don't understand the enormous popularity of the Roman minifigs, but he's all right. His helmet is reused, but the crest is cool. Warrior Woman: An Amazon-like concept, and cool to see two deadly females in this series. I like the Pop Star's hair in black, and the Captain America shield reuse. Tomahawk Warrior: Again, I don't understand the appeal, but his mohawk in black is nice, and so is the tomahawk. Trendsetter: Cool new hairstyle, again in what I call "banana-yogurt yellow". Lots of people will want her for the smartphone and Chihuahua. Her necklace is similar to the Pop Star's... Baseball Fielder: Sort of boring to me, but the glove is neat. I like the "Stackers" team name. Revolutionary Soldier: His wig will be well-sought-after. His uniform is simple but accurate, and his face is good for any stern man you need. Rifle piece is certainly not new, but appropriate here. Motorcycle Mechanic: The only reason I would want him is for the tatooed arm. His accesory is boring to me, being used for two CMFsin the past. Skydiver: The "funny" minifigure of this series. His face is hilarious, and makes you want to hang him from an invisible string attached to a LEGO plane! Interesting color scheme. Paintball Player: Not a multi-purpose minifigure, but his paint-splattered helmet and uniform looks really cool. I'd like to see future uses of the gun. Decorator: Not very interesting, but all we need now is an Electrician to complete the "home professions" group. The handle piece used is interesting. Medusa: ! Medusa has always been my favorite mythological monster, and her final version does not disappoint! She looked rather poorly done in preliminary images, but now I can take it all back! Her snake tail is perfect, as are her hairpiece and double-sided face! (one side calm with green eyes, and the other hissing with flared golden eyes.) Speaking of golden.... The Golden Minifigure!: I am not sure about him. I don't know what he's supposed to be yet, and a performance artist seems like a lame concept for such a rare minifigure. I only want him for his rarity and to put him in The Penguin's lair (similar to Batman 2: DC Super Heroes). I'm not really sold on him yet. He IS feelable though!- 1,076 replies
