  1. I installed S-brick and it works really great. Steering is smooth and driving too. You could start softly and put up the speed after its moving. If one set really benefits from S-brick, it's this (and I'm not in way connected with S-brick or promoting it, I was just suprised how well it beneftis this model).
  2. Last year we had workgroup over at ambassador forum, started and led by TLG staff (and myself), with some fairly important TLG people present at final presentation, so they do care. What they wanted to know is how AFOLs see 3printing, what are our main concernes and advantages. After what I saw there (report is confidential) it's my opinion that TLG is not afraid of 3d printing, they just want to be prepared for when it becomes more widely used. They do know a lot about it (they produce over 50.000 3d printed bricks each year) and know the limitations, but hey dont doubt that some time in the future, technology will "catch up" with traditional moulded bricks. Imagine service like "design by me", but with possibility to get your printed and delivered...
  3. I would consider contacting our "former" fellow Kim at LEGO for possible support. With a lot of content (which as already there) and some selected news (+ regular issues of magazine) it could become registered as "online" community", some of which LEGO nicely supports. Ok, it's "just" LEGO sets (no money could be given) and there need to be reviews, but we are all LEGO fans, so its all we need as incentive. I believe that hispabricks has something similar, with only difference that they cover very wide range of themes, so its easier to pick and use stuff from support package. For "specialized" sites support type could be adjusted, but main condition is still that site needs to be "influential" and "widely recignizable" (both of which RB is). Just my 2c.
  4. I have around 300.000 bricks (250.000 in sets and solid amount of bricks bought on Bricklink for Mocing). With latest bigger sets number grows rapidly (this year I plan to purchase GBHQ and all four Technic sets, whic alone will raise tha number for almost 15.000). The problem is of course space, so I cut on purhasing as much as possible. I have all purchases written down and the "worst" were few years after coming out of dark ages, when I just NEEDED to buy all "missed" sets. There is of course also financial side, bust of those sets are carefully picked to to at least hold heir value (mudulars, UCS, landmarks, big technic), so I consider it like some kind of investment.
  5. Part out set value is around 480 euro with minifigs and stickers. Minifigs are worth around 70euro and sticker sheet 10eur, so part are woth around 400 euro. Even if you substitute all interior parts, I doubt you will be able to go under 300euro. So, best is still to either buy used for around 250eur and sell minifigs (used ones will sell for less) or wait for double or triple VIP points and buy new set and sell minifigs and other stuff.
  6. Instead of getting another set 60052 (which is ok, but not so to deserve multiples), i suggest 60098. You get different type of locomotive, one very nice brown wagon, two acceptable flat-top wagons and nice. For price diffenrence to 60052 (160 vs 180), you could add one set of points (20euro), which combined gets you even more tracks (60098 has 12 straigths and 60052 has 8). I wold recommend 60051 too. Its not that much of a part pack, but still very decent train with curves and straights (its predecessor got just curves and flexi tracks). And, remember, curves could not be bought separately anymore, so its good use every opportunity to grab some. Another set too look forward to is also 60050. It's nice station with four straight trakcs, which always come handy.
  7. First, about LAN (Lego Ambassador Network): It used to be (before it was named LAN) nice and cozy, but disorganized forum. Previous CEE boss Keith Severson got the task to improve and organize it and of this came LAN (I was part of workgroup who worked on it but at the end it turned out mostly as Keith wanted). Rules on LAN are simple: -you have new product idea -> go to LEGO ideas and post it there -you have complaint about quality - call customer service -you want to suggest new theme etc... -> call customer service -you want to report leak -> call customer service -you want to comment on TLG policy etc... - call customer service So, basicly, If you want to achieve anything which is not directly linked to LUGs and their relationship with TLG, you have better chance if you call customer service (and enough people think as you do). At least thats what Kim and others told us. TLG of course follows many forums, sites and social media network. Right now, they have "task" force, which follows all those with intention of discovering and preventing leaks (_which could do a lot of damage to TLG). They also follow activity of some sites and ther influence on the cummunity (type and leve of support which they give depends on this). Of course many TLG employees follow sites forums and social media networks out of their pure interest in what people are doing, to get ideas and inspiration and of course also to see how people react on their work. I talked to many designers including most known ones like Jamie Berard and Mark Stafford and they all "confessed" that they follow fan's work and discussions. Does that mean that they steal? In my opinion not, becuse they still produce original and top quality sets, lmited mostly by TLG rules and not their knowledge/imagination.
  8. Edit: you probably mean just sets which were not on any of toy fairs.
  9. And now, my question: I have option to buy one set with good discount. I already have Helicarrier and Sydney Opera and I plan to get Ghostbusters HQ on other occasion. So, for now, I set my sights on two sets: 1. 10236 Ewok Village (17 minifigs, 1990 parts, 250 euro) 2. 76052 Batman Classic TV Series Batcave (9 minifigs, 2526 parts, 250 euro). I like both very much, maybe Batcave a little bit more, but it will be available much longer, so it would be good to get EW before it. What do you think?
  10. If you want lengthy build, buy Arocs, but if you want something beautiful to put on shelf and also with interesting build, buy Ferris wheel. It was by far the most looked at OOB set on our last exhibition.
  11. I'm sure Technic was there too. From NYC Toy Fair press release: Creative Building (Ages 5+) LEGO Classic continues, offering a variety of brick collections that foster open-ended building fun such as the new LEGO Creative Building Set for $29.99. LEGO Creator offers vehicles, creatures and structures such as a Super Soarer, Park Animals andTreehouse Adventures, each with 3-in-1 building options, delivering hours of play value. Sets range from $4.99 to $69.99. Advanced builders will love the challenge of new LEGO Technic sets such as Hydroplane Racer and Heavy Lift Helicopter that offer technical elements like gears, beams, pulleys, actuators and pneumatics. Sets range from $12.99 to $279.99. But it looks that Jason and others did not seem it worth taking pictures of (or they hate technic).
  12. It's not that. Lego will ban you from S@H or bricks@pieces if they suspect reselling (head on to Brickpicker forum and you will see it happens daily). Buying certain licensed parts in larger than normal quantities will certainly flag you as reseller.
  13. It will work, but performance will be bad.
  14. Welcome!
  15. You need to look at it from broader perspective. From TLGs point of view, biggest threat to their product are electronic devices or more specificaly: smartphones and tablets. TLG knows that it could not stop it, so they made several things where children could enjoy both at same time, such as lego action games, lego buildable games, lego augmented reality games. Moving to bluetooth control is part of this. not because it would be cheaper or have any other advantages, but most of all because it will allow children to use their beloved phones and tablets with lego product.
  16. The Android's Dungeon & Baseball Card Shop was also in one of this year D2C rumors.
  17. You may not be wrong. I think this model could be used to present us with new PF 2.0 parts and BLE control over smartphone/tablet (as seen in WeDo 2.0 parts).
  18. I think it might be Mercedes SLS. It's front engined and many people still think connect it to McLaren due to past partnership of Mercedes and McLaren (producing Mercedes SLR). I can not think of any other "ultimate" sporstscar with front engine except maybe Aston Martin, but LEGO did not work with them in the past.
  19. London Toy Fair is officially open (8:30 GMT). :) It's interesting that this year was a bit of bad mod between London and Nuremberg toy fairs, because german fair (which is bigger) was moved from its usual early february slot to end of january, clashing with London Toy Fair. As it turned out, there is not even a day free between both, making it impossible for smaller companies (which could afford just one booth equipment) to attend both. I'm sure that LEGO will not have those problems and that we will everything on both: first just in descriptions and few days later also pictures from germany. About big set being exclusive or not: It's not about what TLG wants, but what stores are prepared to order. I heard that even 220euro set like Volvo was a stretch, so I doubt they would be willing to risk with 300/350 euro set.
  20. I think it's very possible that there will be no "Ultimate IP car" on both fairs. It is very likely that it will be (if we will get it) a LBR Exclusive or at least from "Hard to Find" section and those rarely (or never) show upon toy fairs. I hope I'm wrong though,
  21. First, here is original post from Kevin Hinkle: Good Afternoon everyone, I've just touched base with one of our Digital Product Specialists within the Consumer Services team. A business decision has been made to no longer allocate resources towards the LDD program / initiative. For now, the program will continue to be offered to anyone interested in utilizing it but please do not expect any updates regarding functionality, the adding of new LEGO elements or glitch fixes. We have decided to pursue other digital experiences. Although this may not be the answer you were hoping for, I hope this information will be of use to your RLUG members. Thank you for your time and continued support for the LEGO Brand & hobby. And here is responso from LCE Team manager Tanja Friberg which was given after a lot of negative reactions to that news (after she had meeting with persons in charge): Dear Ambassadors, I hope this will help clarify a bit of the confusion and misunderstanding from our end regarding LDD. TLG will remain committed to digital building going forward, in regards to LDD, this means that we will continue to support the current functionality. We will not be doing automatic updates on elements, however elements will continue to be added from time to time. Unfortunately we cannot ensure that all elements are made available. I can see that the message has spread widely in the community since Kevin’s statement and I hope that you will assist us in spreading this message as well. Thank you!
  22. I did not know it, but 1st episode of Batman Claasic TV series aired on january 12th, 1966 (50 years ago).
  23. 11:00 EST / 4:00PM GMT Prices will also be revealed (expect something in range of Ewok Village). There is also video.

  25. Best Best new theme: Speed Champions (I'm car fan...) Best set: 60095 Deep sea Exploration vessel (great looking and very playable) Best minifigure: LEGO Store salesman from city square set (we all know him... :) ) Worst: Worst new theme: Pirates (one big ship which is almost the same as last one and just a bunch of small sets) Worst set: 10246 Winter Toy Shop (un-needed re-release) Worst minifigure: divers from deep sea theme. (nothing new and ugly colour(
