  1. I checked it out, the older one as well. I may try a variant .
  2. As you said you lowered the upper gun deck that must indeed look much better, I will watch this thread closely . Will you be building something in this class?
  3. It looks great complete with its fence and garden, I may try a labyrinth like that some time.
  4. Those make a nice assembly, I like the classic look of it, well done you two.
  5. At this point I would advise you not to use prefabs here, go for a costum hull, otherwise you'll end up with a way too narrow ship while a ship-of-the-line should be quite wide. Good luck on the project, I love a big WIP .
  6. Agreed, I walked into a comic book store the other day and saw several pirate-related comic series (although most of them are really for adults), there is definitely an apparent interest in the genre. Atleast that's what one can conclude from my perspective .
  7. Well done, I like her color scheme, apart from the green line on the bow but I'm guessing those are hinge plates and you only had these green ones left. An interesting crew, as usual . I'd really want to refit my frigate with a white hull but with my broken arm I can't take it off my shelf . Anyway, I'm also interested in interior pictures, if she has interior I mean . It's a compromise, more acuracy almost always results in lesser playability, It's up to you which one you find most important, I have a lot of trouble finding a compromise for one of my WIP ships, I wanted full interior but at the same time an accurate tumblehome and now I'm stuck...
  8. Oh yes, definitely . A sail plan like that would really enhance the look of a very fast vessel. As for the headrails... Dark blue would my my intïutive choice but light grey could work very well too (and is easier to come by). Perhaps yellow would still work if you raised the headrails a bit so they don't clash with the white hull, the yellow on the stern works well for example because it only covers a blue surface.
  9. Although I don't think the sea cow's sails are actually meant for sailing, their rounded shape make it look as if the wind is actually blowing in them. It enhances the dynamic appearance of the ship. However, If you would want a historical accurate ship they are not suitable at all I think. But sails like this certainly make a ship more play-able and robust for swooshing around, this approach may be interesting for the pirate subtheme in the current ambassadors' program. Either way, it's an interesting experiment. By the way, your costum midsections look pretty effective, I have a complete set of Red Beard Runner hulls but for my schooner bark I needed 4 midsections so I was short on two. As It turns out, red midsictions are quite expensive on bricklink so I had to plunder my collection of red slopes as well .
  10. I don't like the yellow handrails at all, black handrails look much better IMO. On the stern however I think yellow looks great.
  11. Nicely done, it was about time you did another ship . Personally I think it's a bit narrow for a brig, a schooner sail plan would work great (and maybe not even too much trouble to alter it now as a schooner can also have two masts). I'm not a big fan of the yellow on the headrails but that's just me. Great job on the SNOT deck and those costum cannons look quite nice. Keep up the good work .
  12. Interesting question, I didn't know there was an actual "physical" limit, Maybe it's because you are Citizen and I'm Count that there's a difference.
  13. Great job, I like the different take on the modularity aspect, nice photoshopping (although you missed a spot, at the chain near the fishing line). Good luck.
  14. Well done, I like how the two parts complete the crashed ship together .
  15. This is really good, great presentation, these actually seem plausible for real sets. I absolutely love the color scheme for that ship, well done!
  16. The Black Seas Barracuda is the most versatile pirate ship, unfortunatly often very expensive . The Skull's Eye Schooner is slightly bigger and has a skull crossbones on the main sail but also quite expensive, yet I managed to buy two of them for less than €100 each (second hands). The Red Beard Runner is a really iconic pirate ship, it's smaller than the previous ships, it has a less detailed sail plan but I think you can get it a lot cheaper as well. And finally there's the Brickbeard Bounty, the most recent pirate ship, it uses the new type of hulls, I can't say much about prices though, I'm not really a fan of this ship, I don't own one. Good luck on finding a suitable ship . PS: Those prices on lugnet are hardly relevant for a deal today incase you would wonder.
  17. If there would be three factions I think it's better to replace one coat by Islanders, say Blue coats, Pirates and Islanders, this combination offers more variety.
  18. Good point, I'd say there shouldn't really be an obvious bad guy, you just choose whichever faction you like most to be the good guy. Concerning it to be political correct I assume it's safe to say that these pirates and Islanders are doing their thing in a universe far away, the factions don't represent any social group in the real word, personally I think it's quite innocent. As for sets I think it's a bit early to already discuss those . Now you're thinking AFOL, I'm sure most of us are interested in such things but I believe kids are much more interested in the "active" fraction, the fighting factions. A ship needs cannons to be interesting, an islander has weapons like a bow or spear, there needs to be action!
  19. I think pirates vs Islanders would be an interesting theme, the Idea is not new but I believe it could be very original in set designs. Pirates are always searching for treasure, often to be found at Islanders' places, the Islanders are hunting those greedy pirates, feed them to their crocodiles, etc, plenty of material for story-telling.
  20. I'm defenitely interested in being involved in this project, I'd contribute in whatever way I can . Designing sets would suit me I think
  21. Nice, I like how you used that tricorner frame in the track pods, I'm less a fan of the pink, especially because there's already some tan in there.
  22. I had the Trex transport and the boat does indeed look very similar, Johnny's new car looks nice, it makes me want to build my own adventurers expedition, a ship, some cars etc.
  23. Pretty heavy armed ship, I like it but I like that modern pirate ship in the last picture a little bit more .
  24. Nicely done! You went pretty detailed on torso and face, I'd like one of those as decoration in my room .
  25. It has some 'rough edges' but as a prototype I like it so far. I can't say for sure if a skylight constructed like that is historically accurate, I've seen something very similar in a video game...(Assassins Creed) but then again, I don't know how accurate that is either . It does look nice, keep it up .
