  1. I cast my votes, presentation is important, especially for a voting thread good pictures are vital, I saw multiple entries that may be awesome models but since the pictures were so poor they didn't really look appealing .
  2. Though to decide so I chose 10 entries 2: 1 4: 1 5: 1 11: 1 12: 1 13: 1 14: 1 17: 1 20: 1 22: 1
  3. Great layout, the main temple stands out but I like the sea-action as well .

    MOC port

Very nice, I like the look-in feature of the buildings, great layout for an event and nice details, like the drunk guy in the bar .
  5. I decided to divide the ship into two sections, that way it will be easier to transport. I'm going to split the ship in half right before the main mast. Since Brickmania Antwerp I've been thinking about doing some big operations on the Flying Dutchman, these include; Finishing the port side New prow (Davy Jones' Crocodile machine) Reworked poop deck (railing) Maybe (just maybe) a new glass alternative for the stern windows. I'm afraid the rigging won't survive this proces so I might have to do that again too . Some smaller changes have already been applied such as better masts and booms. Anyway, the ship won't be attending any events soon (I brought it to BrickMania 4 times already, it's time for something new). So that gives me time to work on it more thoroughly. Update 5/12/2013 I managed to disconnect the front section from the technic frame that was originally integrated in the hull to provide the strength needed to support a waterline model of this size. I modified the bow railings and forecastle, the previous forecastle was too wide near the front of the ship. I also closed the starboard side but I must say the port side still looks better. The interior can now be viewed from another perspective although it's pretty dark. The frontal view looks a lot better already, eventhough not yet finished.
  6. I must say the pictures really don't do it justice, it looks a lot better for real. If I had room to put it, a car to transport it and a budget to spend on it I'd be there the next weekend to pick it up . Amsterdam is far away but then again, not really . Anyway, apart from the fact that it is a very nice ship it also holds some historical/cultural value as it is the embodiment of Captain Greenhair's Tumblehome technique, I hope the buyer realizes that and will treat the ship as such .
  7. Yes!, along with that nice rigging the sails look magnificent, can't wait to see the square sails in place .
  8. I'm really loving the interior pictures, I may still have a try at a warship once again .
  9. I like the use of technic beams as bricks for the building, I've seen that technique before but not on a pirate related MOC. Neat MOC, I haven't seen it before indeed .
  10. Great progress so far, I see some kind of vertical bars/enforcers on the reference picture at the midsection, perhaps you can integrate those in your design? As well as the curved side bars although those will be more difficult to add. Keep up the good work, oh and if there won't be any interior you could try to close the holes in the prefab hulls in a more elegant manner (bow / stern).
  11. Yes, my sister built it, on the event it was more popular than the ship it was on Now that I'm seeing these old pictures of the ship I think I better take some more new ones, the deck has changed as well.
  12. Well, since this tread has been bumped now anyway I can as well add something to make it worth checking it out again . The ship now has new stern windows and I closed the gaps in the prefab hull. It's still not perfect but it's close (This picture was taken earlier, before I changed the windows). Here's how I did it;
  13. Nicely done, I think it lost a bit of its charm but I really like that lower gun line and I'm glad you implemented the nice curve typical for tall ships, that is definitely a big improvement for any LEGO ship .
  14. I like the shape of the bow, I'm not so fond of the bones but I guess its name has to come from somewhere . If you wish to improve this ship some more I suggest you work with 1/2 offsets to get a smoother shape. Oh and great job on the rigging so far .
  15. That is a dead man's chest indeed, I love those Island plates, must get myself one sometime.
  16. I really have no Idea what the story of a new POTC movie would be. In the end it was Jack Sparrow's goal to revive his beloved ship. Yet it seems unlikely that the Black Pearl would return, considering the movie set was modified into the QAR. Anyway if there will be a new movie I hope there will be atleast a sea battle between two (or more) ships this time.
  17. Very nice, in my opinion it should have more curve but I do like that bow .
  18. Welcome at Eurobricks, that's a very interesting ship you made, I would love to see more pictures as well. In this forum people are very interested in the details so feel free to give plenty of explanation and pictures to illustrate. You can use Flickr or Brickshelf to upload many pictures and then embed them in a post here (Flickr is the easiest). Anyway, I love it so far, I hope to see more of this quality work from you
  19. It's very nice, since brickmania I've been thinking about doing some modular island city. So, are you going to take care of the water side? I mean it looked a bit unfinished.
  20. All right, I'll sign up but I won't be posting new mocs soon, just want to be ready for when I do .
  21. Thanks, eventhough your part represented a smaller section of the layout, that Islanders Island of yours attracted a lot of attention
  22. My former titles: knows his stuff about ships - Admiral Croissant gave it when I had quite some MOC ships posted at the Pirate forum. New Pirate News Scout! - this explains itself I think (awarded by Admiral Croissant I believe). sinking ship - A joke from Captain Greenhair during the third tournament of Retribution ( wears a skirt under his face ) I'm not sure about this one actually, it probably didn't last long but if I had it it was Captain Greenhair's fault Winner of the Third Tournament of Retribution! - my current title, speaks for itself, awarded by Admiral Croissant I think.
  23. We missed you Likewise, the event inspired me as well to get back to ship-building.
  24. I've used those masts in some of my best ships, yet I do prefer the old type you find in sets like the Black Seas Barracuda. Round bricks are useful in both cases to modify the length. I hope this helps.
  25. I updated the post, I didn't mention it at first because I did post it within the pirate forum but no worries, credits will be provided for and I expect other people to post about other layouts. You see a post of the whole event would be too long if I want to go into detail like I did for the pirate layout .
