  1. Those are some nasty looking goblin punks, nice plant work.
  2. Locally I see some very nice bits about this ship but as a whole I have several remarks. A ship of this proportions definitely calls for a costum hull, he seemed to have merged two prefab hulls together Either way, the ship lacks a proper curve, that makes it look static and bulky. It's still an impressive piece though.
  3. Nicely done, I like that anchor very much, it fits very well for a ship this size. The booms are a bit... rought but I suppose you were limited by parts.
  4. Okay, that is a valid argument . Still, technic bricks are very useful for creating strong structures... And they allow axles to be running through .
  5. There's Captain Greenhair's Tutorial (link) Many shipbuilders here have relied on this tutorial, including me but over the time I did quite some things different from the tutorial. So the tutorial is more like a guideline, not an actual rule . Either way, it has prooven to be helpfull.
  6. What kind of stuff are we talking about then?
  7. Nicely done, perhaps you were inspired by this;
  8. Functional Capstan tutorial not indexed yet.
  9. Updated the first post with a practical application, haul up two anchors independently using one capstan. The previous construction was built very symmetrically so it would be easier to see how it works. However, when applied to a real MOC ship you don't need to see how it works, the more compact you can build the mechanism, the more space you gain for interior and/or other functions on your ship. I have therefor applied this capstan mechanism to a current WIP of mine to show a more practical example. This is a three-mast ship, the capstan is located after the foremast (very common location for the capstan on a historical ship). The capstan itself will be mounted on the brown vertical axle. The red axle connectors with gray axle towballs are used to block the anchors in place (so they don't fall down after you hauled them). As you can see the gearbox for switching anchors does not lay in line with the ship's length this time. The switch itself is concealed under the yellow technic plate and will be operated by turning the light grey axle. I intend to attach a barrel to the switch axle to hide it on deck in an elegant manner. On this picture you can see the anchor blocking mechanisms, these are connected via several gears to the previously mentioned axle towballs, which will be accessible on deck. I will soon cover this whole mechanism with a deck.
  10. It's an interesting ship, I noticed the gun ports aren't evenly spread over the broadside, it doesn't really bother me though, is there any particular reason you did that? I love that atlantis decorated stern, nicely done! Your feedback is very well appreciated nonetheless, besides, you're pretty active in the pirate forum so you have seen quite a bit of ships, you actually have a great deal of experience with ships you could say .
  11. I thought about it as well but as I'm more interested in ships I looked into Evil Stevie's Pirate game (link), it prooved to be too complex to be practical in my opinion however .
  12. There's a subforum for MOCs at the pirate section, it works there (although new members often post in the wrong place), it is the only (visible) subforum under pirates however, I think if there would be more subforums it would become complex and have more negative effects indeed.
  13. I don't have much choice as I have a lot of different parts in black which I don't have in other colors. Either way I don't like black as a main color, I prefer to only use black where you can't see it (when looking at a finished creation). As for taking pictures of MOCs using black is a disaster. I hadn't thought about it that way, interesting .
  14. Welcome at Eurobricks, At the beginning I also used bluecoats as redcoat officers, gotta use what you have . I'm looking forward to see your brig-of-war .
  15. Very nice, the lion idol is hilarious to be honest but it does give this ship something rather unique that seperates it from others. Good job on the cabin, the ship has a great shape overal.
  16. Interesting bow, it is however very strange to have windows under the gun deck . But I read it's his first ship so it's acceptable, my first ship wasn't really an accurate tall ship either .
  17. Very nice, I enjoy your building style, I might come to you when I'm in the mood to build a main land house, my house building skills are outdated and still very basic . good luck in the contest.
  18. I only got a standard cuusoo review when the project reached 1000 supporters, other than that nothing really happened, except for staff pick at the cuuso facebook group.
  19. Thanks, I hope to keep it intact forever. But if some disaster would happen I'm better prepared, the split-operation gave me new insight in how I originally constructed the ship, which was hard to determine because It was built over the prototype which was built over a previous version and that goes back many years . Nice, thanks.
  20. I put the ship back together, improvements include; new masts + booms attached Revised forecastle Bow railing (jaws) I would have shown pictures of the port side but I ran out of parts, parts I did not expect. I can't finish the port galleries now but I'm thinking about building around the galleries so there would be a gap in the ship. That gap would allow a view inside the cabin and still provide the structure I need to finish the poop deck railing. I also intend to make a new video (with better lighting and music this time). But first I'm going to work a bit on the stern, it's starting to fall apart .
  21. 8480 Space Shuttle Fiber Optics I bought it second hands but it's as good as new. And a couple of smaller sets.
  22. Lovely built, the water look great though it's a technique I won't use easely, I don't think I can bring myself to use clip tiles like that . I like the monkey hanging from a leaf, nicely done.
  23. Oh yes I like that, the broadside looks a lot more interesting now . Maybe you can add the anchor hole in the bow, perhaps a simple brown technic brick will do .
  24. I like the jacket on the right but the left one might be more practical . Well, it's your dilemma .
  25. Well done, they do deserve that extra ration of rum, keep it up!
