outstanding - simply outstanding... one remark to the H-symbol: the gray version of the H feels like the odd man out, especially the front one - the red version is much better integrated in the overall look - but of course this is just my personal taste...

Didumous, i'm speechless... it's a new kind of supercar IMHO - and i have already build many (TLGs and MOCs of some "star"-designers)... May i ask you if you are planning instructions, maybe for some fee?

wow - just wow - this is the real successor of the beloved 8455 TLG pneumatic marvel - superb model in all criterias: look (IMHO it is very well polished), function - Lipko, may i ask you if you are planning BI? probably i would pay and price ;-) could not imagine that your next model yould even be better -
Awesome! I like it a lot. May i ask you if you would make Instructions later on?

Technic Hall of Fame Discussion
Kumbbl replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Well spoken! Your comparison with Paul is absolutely correct and can really not be read as attack. If yours is a MOD of 42039 then a lot of supercars MOCs are Mods of 8070 and should be remived from the HoF.... ;-) -

[REVIEW] 42056 - Porsche 911 GT3 RS
Kumbbl replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
well done! I have updated my summary of essential MODs and added your latest 5-step-procedure: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=133688&st=475#entry2579973 The overview in the first posting of the MODs thread is not maintained by myself but by the threadstarter tripletschiee...maybe he is willing to update again his first posting... -
fully agree... and it is ONLY about realism and ONLY about your own knowledge that your lego car is build realistic... in daily practice (ie. ushing your Porsche around) you will hardly notice any difference between the original front axle layout and a modified MacPherson strut suspension with Ackermann. And to learn for yourself how such sophisticated front suspension works and to see its advantages the lego parts are somehow unsuitable cause of the inherent slack etc, the unsuitable geometry and also the scale of the model is too small... and to notice a difference between Ackermann and non-ackermann during pushing the car the max steering lock of the Porsche is way too small... The only aspect which IMHO really influences playablity is bump steer because with a huge bump steer front suspension will hardly work even when driving over a piece of paper ;-) So a front suspension layout with as much as possible reduced bump steer gives IMHO the greatest practice value to the owner... To make a long story short: with better suitable parts (ie. less slack, better geometry etc.) for sophisticated front-suspension layouts i would highly appreciate authentic and realistic layouts in supercars but with current available parts it is more or less worth- and useless (exception: reducing bump-steer if possible - but based on my own experience with building a lot of the well known supercar MOCs out there: there is always too much bump-steer regardless how sophisticated the suspension layout is....) - apart from the fun of a MOCer during the designphase... - just my 2 ct...and no offending to all the front-suspension lovers out there! ;-)

i know but that perfectly supports my thesis - the perfectly working 90 degree slots are there because the builder has accidentally build in exactly the perfect amount of friction/backlash etc... mechanic with backlash can not so precisely moved/driven that you can gurantee 1 degree precision without a additional mechanism which ensures that - and AFAIK these two change over catches are such a mechanism... to make a long story short: the 100% working version of Pauls wife is pure coincidence - if she would build it again the result would probably be different without the MOD of Attika...
-
Because the 90 degree problem is a.o. Caused by backlash i strongly recommend applying Attikas mode for the Double engaging issue. See initial posting of this MOD thread... And i can imagine that a geartrain with backlash shows different results in two builds even if identically built. Esoecially when some discrete positions are needed...

great, Didumos69 and thank you for inventing and sharing this good and essential MOD. I have added it to me list of essential MODs here http://www.eurobrick...75#entry2579973 - and also asked already tripletschiee (Starter of the MOD thread) to update his initial posting - so each owner of the 42056 can see at first glance what to do to convert the 42056 from mediocre to a very satisfying model (more or less for free).
-
IMO much better than your previous solution - currently this would be my to-go-solution for HOG compared to Appies and Attikas - this doesn't mean that i de-qualify the other two solutions, both are IMO worth taken into account! If anybody could test this solution with real bricks and if this test commits the smooth performance and integration into the model than this would finalize my list of essential MODs, ie. which turn the original mediocre model into a well performing great supercar with flawless, reliable and reasonable realistic working core functions and rational playability. This would be the mandatory enhancements to get a - at least - satisfying model. All stuff on top like better front-suspension or even RWS or motorizing would be the freestyle-part...
