Thanks. Do you know the Lego colour ID and name? I think I might have seen that photo before but assumed that they were just colour variations of one or two blues.
-
Trans Lake Blue? I'm not sure which colour you mean. The one rule I have with adding colours is that I have to see photos of it, rather than just hearing that certain colours exist. I thought I had all the Trans blues covered. More details would be appreciated though! If there is a Satin Trans-Yellow then that could pose a problem, because that's not an official Lego colour! Although my spreadsheet does list 'factory' produced figures, in theory each one could be 'officially' produced some day by Lego in a set. How could you say that about a fig in a colour which Lego don't even do? Even if it is just an 'effect' colour?
-
Satin Yellow? There's no such colour on BL's database, nor on Ryan Howerter's list. Do you mean another Satin colour?
-
This. Everyone has different ways they collect and different things they want to collect. Some people only collect plain, unprinted parts, other people are fine with wiping prints. Some people do want every colour in existence, other people only want colours which have appeared in sets. The fact is this thread is for all of us, and I'd prefer not to be arguing one way or the other. My spreadsheet, incidentally, makes distinctions between all those, so that everyone can use it however they want.
-
So what would you class 'Q' elements as? I.e. test elements which have been available for decades, but which aren't 'produced for sale in sets, PAB etc' to be sold to the general public? Or prototype figures which were produced for people high up at Lego but never made available to the general public? Or what about parts which have been produced solely for use in LEGOLand parks? I have a few of them, including 1x8 bricks in Transparent and Maersk Blue colours, and things like Transparent jumper plates. None of those were ever produced to be sold to the general public, yet they're definitely not 'illegitimate'. My point is that it's a murky area when you start talking about elements which aren't available to the general public. And as I say, if LEGO really wanted to stop parts being produced on the 'hush hush', as you put it, I'm absolutely certain they could.
-
It depends what you mean. This has been discussed quite a lot in the past, but basically it's generally accepted that the parts are 'unofficially' produced in Lego factories using Lego machines and Lego materials. They are therefore genuine Lego parts, but which have been unofficially produced, with The Lego Group seeming to turn a blind eye to them. Personally I think if Lego really wanted to stop their factory workers making them, they could, but I suspect it's simply not high up their list of priorities.

Not got them yet, but I've seen photos and ordered a pair. If you're not already on the Facebook monochrome group, you should join it :)

Indeed. At some point in the not too distant future I hope to see pictures of Yellowish Green hips :)

Yes definitely only expect moc-level instructions! The instructions are already available online, so you can look through them before your set arrives if you want. Last Chance to See is where I first read about/saw Kakapos too, and I'd definitely recommend it to anyone who gets the set. However, I suspect most who have bought the set will have seen/read it anyway.
-
This is a repost of what I posted on Brickset last night: I built the Kakapo this evening. The finished model is a beautiful thing. Possibly the most beautiful Lego model I've bought. The build, however, is tedious and repetitive. Thankfully it only took about 3 - 4 hours. I can't help thinking that having information about the Kakapo scattered through the instructions (as is becoming the norm with 18+ sets these days) would have helped relieve some of the slog. The build is also not helped by easily the worst instructions I've ever seen in a (semi-official) Lego set.Firstly, the instructions themselves look like they've been put together in LDraw in about 1998. Not a good look these days.Secondly, there's a few small spare pieces (2x black 1x2 plates) oddly left over at the end of bag 3, which it turns out are needed (along with some 1x1 'spares which turn out not to be spares') towards the end of bag 8!There's also a small section at the end of bag 6 which needs six parts which aren't in bag 6. They're in bag 7. I actually thought I was missing two parts until I realised all the parts for that section were missing. In addition, the building process seems like no-one actually tried using the instructions to build the set after the instructions had been put together. A lot of steps have rather odd processes for building them, and you have to really pay attention in other steps to avoid making mistakes.A few examples:In step 54 I initially missed off the 2x4 plate, because it looks so similar to step 53.In steps 57 and 58 I simply don't see why you'd start with the 2x4 plate rather than with step 58's sub-build. There's a lot of bits like this, where you just know that Lego would have changed the steps around had they taken half a glance at the instructions. In step 115, the call-out build is so badly shown that I wondered where the hell the second 1x1 plate went. Maybe it's just me, but I really don't think this would have made it into official Lego instructions.I'm going to stop having a moan now, because the finished model is honestly a thing of utter beauty. I just wish someone at Lego had taken the time to look at the instructions...

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Paperballpark replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
I also really like the new modular, although there's not many I don't like. The Downtown Diner and Corner Garage were the last ones which I felt weren't really of usual standard, but the rest have been pretty spot on over the past few years. -
I've added the glitter and satin blues to my spreadsheet. If anyone has/finds any pics of minifig parts in the other colours, please let me know so that I can add them too... :)
-
I need to add that colour to my spreadsheet, so I'll have to dig out the official colour ID for it over the weekend. Has anyone seen any photos of the other glitter colours? I've heard they exist, but without photo proof I'm not going to add them to the spreadsheet just yet...

God that'll be expensive. No idea what the official name for the solid Neon Yellow will be, but that seems sensible...
-
There's a new solid Neon Yellow colour in the 2022 Monkee Kid sets, including torso and arms.

Lego Halloween – Custom Minifigure
Paperballpark replied to Lego Custom Undead's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
Sorry to put a dampener on things, but the only part of it that looks like Lego is the base. The rest - while impressive - simply looks like one of those figurine models you get at a model shop. -
They're the latter. However, both times a non-transparent part has shown up like that in the past (tan hips and lavender hips), it's preceeded the part being released in retail sets later on.
-
I recently acquired heads in Dark Turquoise, Bright Light Yellow, and Coral. Photos of the first two (from someone else) are on the previous page.
-
The only currently produced figures now unable to be completed are Coral (needing legs) and Yellowish Green (needing hips). What do we do when they're all completable? Petition Lego for new colours?!
-
Hands in Coral, GITD and Pearl Dark Grey have shown up...

Thanks for that! It's quite difficult to notice new unprinted parts.

Winter Village Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Paperballpark replied to Gearslover01's topic in LEGO Town
I really like it - more so than I think I've liked any Winter Village set since the original Winter Village Cottage. Although the Elf Clubhouse last year was nice. -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Paperballpark replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
I've already built my own Post Office and Chinese Restaurant (to connect to Spring Lantern Festival), so personally I'd prefer to see something different!
