I heard CC is in for an October release. Not certain, but that's what I heard. Oh and there's no panels, so to the person wishing for them, sorry! -

^ yeah, it's not like they wouldn't have done ANY product testing with the target age group, or anything like that, is it? -
The train controller for the two new sets is a handheld one, similar to the current one, but looks to be primarily white. The two dials look slightly strange - like a solid 3-long liftarm has been stuck across each dial, presumably to give kids something to grip to turn it. I'm not confident there's anywhere to stick an axle into the dials, as on the current controller, although there could be.

*sigh* I try to tell people what I remember, and some ungrateful b*****ds have a go at me for it. There's gratitude for you. Look, I like Star Wars, I've seen the films. But I'm not someone who can tell you exactly what happened in each scene on Cloud City, or who was in each scene, or be able to recite the dialogue word for word etc etc, like most of you probably can. I can't even remember the last time I saw Empire Strikes Back, but it probably wasn't in the last year. So I can't look at a set and say 'ooh, that's that scene, and this is that scene, and they've included X, Y and Z minifigures, etc etc. I recognised Slave 1 because it's very recognisable, but I honestly couldn't tell you what a Cloud Car looks like. Hell, I've just googled it and I can't even remember it being in the sodding film, let alone whether it was in the set. Perhaps you'd all just prefer me to say nothing next time? And when I come across you all still speculating whether it even exists, maybe I should just let you keep speculating. -

As I said on Brickset, it's probably about 28 - 30 studs long, from what I saw. It's instantly recognisable, and looked to be a decent representation. -

Tell me a set number and I'll check! I'm not too familiar with Star Wars sets I'm afraid! EDIT: If it's #8097 then the one in CC is smaller. Open like the DS. Yeah, that was me a day or two ago. :) -

No, not guesswork, I've seen a photo. I can't say how or where, but everything I said is from what I saw. -

It's definitely Cloud City, and it's definitely a playset along the lines of the Death Star. It's not like Assault on Hoth. In fact, chop the bottom off the Death Star, then add a few platforms and a ship or two (hello, 28-30 stud long Slave 1), and you're pretty much there. -

GBC General Discussion

I've really got into GBCs over the past four or five months, and whilst I haven't actually displayed any modules yet, Huw (of Brickset fame) and I are going to do collaborative displays at both Bricktastic in Manchester (June/July), and at The Great Western Brick Show in Swindon (October). I currently have twelve modules, and here's a couple of videos of most of them. Any questions, just ask. They all seem fairly reliable, but I guess I'll only see how reliable once they've been running for a full day at a show!- 1,124 replies

Okay, help me with PF train motors
Paperballpark replied to Ashi Valkoinen's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Is it possible that those which have had some running are faster, because they've been 'run in' and have a bit less friction? -
Well that's a good job then, given that it can't actually be built.

Help: when were your 12v motors released? Let's complete the table!
Paperballpark replied to Reza's topic in LEGO Train Tech
I don't know how many factories there were then, or where they were, but these days there's factories in Denmark, Hungary, Mexico, China, and I think there might be one in the Czech Republic as well. -

Perhaps that was just the crossover year? Maybe one factory started making type 4 before the other? -

I think he needs the top photos showing the other end, to distinguish the number/type of holes on the top! :) -
Very nice, but there's quite a few parts on there that simply aren't available in those colours.

I lile this a lot, you've done a great job! I do think the trans-clear slopes on top detract from it though - it would look better without them. -
'Leftover' - I wish! I had to buy about 300 of them to use in that roof. Fortunately they weren't too expensive (not like straight track!) but they weren't particularly cheap either. Click on the photo to go to my Flickr account, and you can see photos of the station with the roof.

Thanks, it is indeed! I built it about three years ago now, and I've taken it to nine shows since then. I display things other than trains now though, so it hasn't been out since last May.
-
You mean like this? Sorry, but I kept the smoke deflectors, as the model looks better with them than without.
-
Also, the Crocodile loco on Ideas looks very nice, but I can guarantee that - as built there - it will not go around Lego's curved track. Simple as that, it won't.

^ They did a 'Flying Scotsman' style train with the Emerald Night.
