  1. Sorry, dude. My bad. I take things far too literally sometimes. I also made a mistake on the scale. It is more like 4:1, which does make it a large model!
  2. Not sure what you mean about the size issue, it is a 40:1 scale model so is much smaller than the real crane. It is just over 3Kg with batteries, so sadly the outriggers will not lift the crane. They do some work though as the crane does tip over if they are not deployed.
  3. ...Spider crane, that's a good idea. Not sure a bout the futuristic theme as it didn't go too well last time. See 8462 http://brickset.com/sets/8462-1/Tow-Truck
  4. 9. UNIC URW-094 Mini Spider Crane My cranes uses 4 RC controlled XL motors and has 3 modes: 1 Drive - Left and Right Tracks 2 Outriggers - 3 stage - swing, fold and extend. 3 Crane - Rotate boom, lift boom, extend boom and hoist. Push left lever for outriggers, pull for crane. Push right lever for drive. Push yellow bush for power on. 3 functions through the turntable. Boom raise, boom extend and hoist. 5. Now complete and working very well. 3 functions through the turntable. Boom raise, boom extend and hoist. More like a diplodocus than a spider. Push left lever forwards for outriggers, pull back for crane. Push right lever for drive. Push yellow bush for power on.
  6. This looks fantasic from above and 3/4. I think the front of the roof is too high but this is still the best use of orange panels I've seen.
  7. 3 for 2 at Argos 6th - 10th November. I will try to stock up on 42009 before it is retired
  8. That is actually a bad example of my MOCing style as I built the shell but couldn't fit everything inside... http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=107218&hl=esprit Can you give an example of a customized panel with limited use?
  9. I do rely on panels; I built a shell from panels and then see what I can fit inside. The panels become structural; when I removed a few panels to show the insides of my TC7 it just fell apart. I probably wouldn't build without panels as I like to hide all the stuff that goes on inside. Most of my TC8 is panels too.
  10. I think this is brilliant. The transformation is so good it could have been in TC7. Excellent work.
  11. I'm with Erik on this one, I don't understand why it needs to be so big.
  12. The last 30 seconds of the video are great but I think you need a much wider shot to show off the rest of the crane.
  13. Just buy a used 8366 or 8475 off ebay and sell the parts you don't need. I do it all the time and ended up with 16 motors that cost me nothing. Of course I sold the motors when I realized people would pay £35 each for them. Some buggy motors are noisier than others but I never had one that didn't work.
  14. ^Yes, sorry I assumed everybody knew about these cool little cranes.
  15. More details of the new sets on brickset. http://brickset.com/article/17222/more-toys-r-us-2016-set-descriptions
  16. Great idea to use string to raise the boom. Does the string stretch when you try to lift something?
  17. Sariel has his hamster and I have that damn cat. She likes lego and cameras but what she really loves is the string from the crane.
  18. I changed to from L to XL motors as the L's weren't strong enough. I need to gear back up now as everything moves too slowly. There were 2 spiders in TC6. One came 1st, the other was really scary! (http://www.eurobrick...howtopic=105382)
  19. lego 045 lego 048 It uses 4 RC controlled XL motors and has 3 modes: 1 Drive - Left and Right Tracks 2 Outriggers - 3 stage - swing, fold and extend. 3 Crane - Rotate boom, lift boom, extend boom and raise hook. There are 3 functions through the turntable. I think the 3 modes will be selected with levers on the back, though there is plenty of room inside for a RC sequential.
  20. I just tried adding the 9V battery to battery box and L-motor. It spins at the same speed but is much harder to stall. It only runs with the power switch on the PF box pushed towards the middle. I assume they cancel out/short circuit with the switch the other way. (The L motor spins about 20% slower with the 9V PP3 battery compared to using the PF battery box)
  21. Will adding 9V battery to standard battery box just increase the current available and NOT fry all my PF parts with 18V? lego 040 by James Tillson, on Flickr
  22. Something like this? (shameless self-promotion) https://ideas.lego.com/projects/110466
  23. Done. Don't forget to edit your message and remove your email address. Please post some pictures if you build it.
  24. 8263's Black tracks are halfway between the 2 desings. The tread is the same as V2 but the hooks are the same as V1. 50x 87518 is 5mm longer than 50x 88323.
  25. What is the difference between track 88323 (from 42042, 42006, etc) and track 87518 (from 8294, 8275, etc)? I never MOCed anything with tracks (until TC8) but I just found the 42042 wheels don't work with the 8294 track and the 8294 wheels don't work with the 42042 track. I can't see any difference between the two types of track.
