[WIP] Lancia Stratos 1:8 Scale
JamesJT replied to JamesJT's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Masterpiece? Oh no, if you guys could see how it is cobbled together or what shape it turns when I pick it up... It will take alot of work to make it a masterpice and TBH I will probably end up pinching parts for other MOCs long before it is finished. I have many [WIP] topics and not many [MOC] ones. google "dimensions {insert car name here}" and then click "images". It is actually a 1:8 Scale so I've asked Jim to change the title -
[WIP] Lancia Stratos 1:8 Scale
JamesJT replied to JamesJT's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
There is a curve in the sides but it is hard to see from the photos I took. At first glance the Stratos looks like it was designed with all straight lines (which is why I chose this as a MOC TBH) but it is curvy where I expect it to be straight and vica versa. stratos scale 10 by James Tillson, on Flickr -

I ordered the wheels on Saturday morning and they arrived just now. Thank you Bricklink's MadaboutBricks. -
I was inspired by 42056 to build something big. It has full suspension and steering but I wanted to get the shape right before building the V6, gearbox, seats etc. The headlight do pop up and the door just clip off for now. I am very happy with the profile but it looks more GT40 than Stratos from anyother angle. The overlay from above shows it is 2 studs too narrow so its all coming apart. I have ordered yellow wheels from 42030. The spoiler is already the same width as 42056. RIP V1

Got to admit, I don't like the half-stud measurements and the fact that the entry was revealed so late that the rules could not be revised.

No problem. You made great use of it. Your A model looks very official (even without the box art).- 31 replies

I think I've got the shape right, just needs a bit of tidying up. -

Making technic look like a dalek is taking much longer than I thought. -
Part Degradation over Time

I have never had a faulty buggy motor or micro motor, and I have had more than 30 of each. The clips that hold the micro motor are the weakest parts. I had a clear out of old motors yesterday; I found only 1 out 8 of my 2838 (from 8868) and just 2 out of 10 of my 71427 (from 8479) were still working properly. A few were working but very noisy and the others were seized. -

Cool. Would it work with a set of unimog wheels? -
I made these last night to help make TC9s look "official". Just photoshop your model on. A Model by James Tillson, on Flickr B Model by James Tillson, on Flickr

There are only 6 versions of the lego sound brick, sadly non of them say "Exterminate". Check prices on bricklink for the c04 version from 10196! I would not normally use non-lego parts but I could buy one of these to dissect > http://www.halfords....i-plush-keyring [media] [media] -

^No chance as I don't own an NXT brick. I have often though a re-writable version of the sound brick (55206c02) would be very useful. -

I made some progress with the dalek. My 7 year old son did the lights for the dome and the guns/suckers. It is the first time he has played with technic. -

It is 4 channel RC, the functions are: 1 Drive 2 Steering and turn head 3 Move arms 4 Lights (fire laser) I will add 3&4 together and try to get the head-sucker-thing to move up and down. I have some ideas for the shell but I will have to see what happens when I start clicking parts together.
