  1. I finished the interior - I rebuilt the chassis in red and added seats and a dash. 1963 Corvette 007 by James Tillson, on Flickr When I took the front bumper off (to start the Grand Sport conversion) the nose looked nothing like a corvette, just a buch of parts holding the lights in place. So I rebuilt the front and managed to use one more 18944 panel. 1963 Corvette 006 by James Tillson, on Flickr The coupe roof just clips back on using the same mounting points as the folding roof. 1963 Corvette 068 by James Tillson, on Flickr I am waiting for BL'd parts to arrive, I don't have a HOG position for the convertible version and I haven't started the RC chassis yet.
  2. I bought 8043 from lego on day 1 and a month later I got a service pack with 4 more LAs and a £10 lego voucher. The possibility that this set is flawed only makes me want it (and what ever free parts that may follow) more. 1st editions are usually worth more on the aftermarket too.
  3. ^Agreed. It will be a cost option as it uses 2x white #4 connectors. I'm ready to start the 3rd version. It will be RC, as light as possible and come without pop-up lights, opening doors, windscreen, etc. I may even take out the suspension... someting like this; 1963 Corvette Grand Sport Roadster. 1963 Corvette Grand Sport 2 by James Tillson, on Flickr
  4. Yes, for once, I was quite pleased when I saw there was a gap in the panels. I may have to modify the roof but it does look possible. The other option is to use the steering wheel in the cockpit for the roadster and just have the HOG on the coupe. I couldn't find a picture of a blue corvette with a black roof so I pinched a few parts off my stratos and rebuilt the roof in white. 1963 Corvette 053 by James Tillson, on Flickr
  5. I've got a working version of the convertible and a corvette-ish dashboard. I made a flickr video to show how the roof goes up and down. 1963 Corvette M5 by James Tillson, on Flickr I had to rework the rear and is a lot smoother now but I haven't tried the coupe roof back on yet. I have no idea where the HOG steering is going to go now...
  6. I finished the coupe exterior and I thought it would be easier to do the interior and soft top version at the same time. Poke out a 9L axle and pullout 2 pins and the roof just lifts off. I prefer the convertible already. 1963 Corvette 048 by James Tillson, on Flickr
  7. I will have a head start as I won't build the A model. I will probably be building B models from this until the next "UCS" car comes out.
  8. I know what I'm going to build with my 42056... "The French 911"
  9. I've got some rotating headlights, see flickr video. I really wanted them to be 4x2x2 studs but these are 6x3x3 so they look out of scale. 1963 Corvette M2 by James Tillson, on Flickr
  10. I'm getting really close now. I did try it with the front wheels arches 1 stud lower (to better match the blueprint) but it had no steering or suspension. I'm going to sort out a windscreen and then have a go at those rotating headlights.

  12. There's not much room for a detailed interior. I will probably do it red or white just because black would be hard to see in the photos. It keeps me motivated when things get tough. I will choose my camera angles carefully! I have the engine working and a position for the HOG steering, see flickr video 1963 Corvette M1 by James Tillson, on Flickr
  13. 9393 always felt like it needed some weight on the front and I like those new front wheels. I turned my 9393 in to a mini 8063. 9393 Red by James Tillson, on Flickr
  14. I knew a full size engine would not work. I'm really happy with the "small block" engine as looks to be about the right scale, I'll just need to make it orange.
  15. (If I were to build this) I would wait until I had the orange wheel arches and curved panels for the 42056. I think the body would build itself with the new parts and it would be orange. I would prefer steering over brakes. The reat of the chassis sounds perfect.
  16. I haven't done the front yet. These new panel are better when you have many of them, maybe I'm the only one that bought 9 copies of 42045. They are in 42045 but should be available at Lego CS soon. I know what you mean. At 11 studs wide the panels are perfect for the rear window but too narrow for the doors; at 13 studs wide its great for the doors but too wide for the rear window. I tried using a #3 to hold the panels at the perfect angle for both but it created more problems than it solved. I compromised at 12 studs wide and added some "trim" to keep the flow. 1963 Corvette 022 by James Tillson, on Flickr This would have been done by now if the doors didn't have to open. If I make it RC, I will fix the door in place to save weigh (like the Dukes')
  17. I had the whole roof built yesterday but I had not noticed that the doors cut into the roof. 1963 Corvette 10 by James Tillson, on Flickr The roof was 2 studs too narrow anyway. This is what it looks like now. 1963 Corvette 016 by James Tillson, on Flickr
  18. I now have double wishbone front suspension (like 8081) and semi-independent trailing arms on the back. 1963 Corvette 4 by James Tillson, on Flickr The curved panel (24116) is useful for the sides. I am going to swap the 5x11 panel for these new panels too. 1963 Corvette 6 by James Tillson, on Flickr I could use another 3x 18944 to make the rear deck of a soft-top. 1963 Corvette 5 by James Tillson, on Flickr I am wondering if i should scap my chassis and build this on madoca's corvette chassis. They look about the same size.
  19. Completely agree - doubt I'm the first one to see the wheel arch potential. ^That looks like a blue 1963 corvette to me.
  20. Probably, looks like there is a least 2 studs of wheel travel under the arches but it doesn't even have steering yet. I found this image of a 1963 corvette, it's like the designer knew which colour technic panels would be available one day.
  21. I put 2 arched panels together at a right-angle and thought "corvette wheel arch", an hour later I have this; 1963 Corvette 3 by James Tillson, on Flickr I would like to make it RC if I can get it light enough and fast enough or maybe build a mini V8. A white folding "soft" top would be nice too.
  22. The chassis reminds me of 8860. Where's the fuel tank?
  23. I just noticed there are still no 64393 and 64681 (3x11) panels in orange.
  24. From brickset interview; "... we decided upon using the current 911 GT3 RS as the first vehicle in this LEGO Technic series." So more Porsches, other supercars or just the 2016 technic line-up?
  25. This should have been TC10: 10 parts max and with a very short deadline. Giraffe, camel & horse.
