  1. Excavator is unfortunately on indefinite hold... This is the front axle assembly of my newest project, that I've been tinkering with on and off for about a month now. As you might guess from the picture, I hope to make full instructions for this one More to follow soon
  2. Because of the poster on the wall in the video
  3. I too use that same Tactix brand (not the exact same containers though), and I must say; for LEGO they are pretty brilliant. Not expensive, and they come in a variety of sizes. I have several different ones in different sizes, for connectors, electronics, pneumatics, gears etc etc. Sorting your collection in containers like this really saves a lot of time when MOCing!
  4. Looks great! Being a sailor and sailboat enthusiast, I can't wait to see these pictures on a bigger screen than my phone! Also; hope to see a proper video soon!:-) Hear hear!!
  5. I would suggest taking a look at Jennifer Clark's Skid Steer Loader, as that is the only one I know of with instructions for sale.
  6. That looks really nice Paul! The only thing I don't like is the propeller, but I fully understand that actual propellers in that scale may be hard to come by... When you say you used many hours on research and design, do you use LDD or some other CAD software? Or do you just make a general attack plan, and take it from there when you start the actual build?
  7. Getting a replica exactly right from just one image is close to impossible, but I do definitely see the challenge these builders put upon themselves trying to do it! I had an absolute great time building my 42028 replica last winter. That being said, I can see how some people may feel the magic being taken out of it by prematurely showing off an (probably wrong) interpretation of what one builder thinks a given set might be like
  8. I agree they don't look particularly good, which is a shame. They have been used in MOCs though, like Jurgen Krooshop's Black Supercar, which IMO looks pretty awesome
  9. That Volvo looks pretty sweet!
  10. Looks great! Especially like the ladder and it's compartment on the truck! Has to be a Technic first!
  11. Lol, that looks like Divinycel, or some other kind of fine grain foam material in that picture
  12. That is pretty impressive! Anyone know what is the piece inside the 4x4 round plate on the front wheels?
  13. SEMOC = Somebody Elses My Own Creation - doesn't make a lot of sense NMOC = Not My Own Creation - Sounds a little bit better SEC = Somebody Elses' Creation - ? I do understand that MOC, although an abbreviation, has more or less become a word, with a clear and generally understood meaning. Maybe SEMOC will too?
  14. Pretty awesome MOC! It's huge! I see the need for the 12 (!!) hard shock absorbers on the front axle!
  15. The 42039 Le Mans type car looks way better than I expected! Also, the Arctic Tracked Vehicle looks very interesting! And the Rocket Car pullback racer seems to be using the dark blue 3x11 curved panels found in the 41999
  16. Considering suspension: It definitely helps in most ways suspension does in real life, but one of the main problems in my experience is it takes up too much room. Especially live rear axles eat away at areas you could otherwise use for bracing. Maybe a simple double wishbone suspension setup for just the front axles will be a good idea? So you are making more of a flatbed truck? Something to transport heavy machinery? Looking forward to seeing some more progress. Regarding fifth steered axle: You would probably need a fairly sharp Ackerman geometry on that one, seeing as it is so close to the driven, non-steered axles.
  17. I think it looks a bit long.. Remember; the longer the vehicle -> longer tipping bed -> more strain on whichever tipping mechanism you opt to use.. Also, having three rear axles, one of them should probably be steered, or you'll end up having a lot of sideways friction and strain whenever you are turning. I am actually playing with a similar setup in LDD now, but I opted to have the fifth axle steered, as in the image below:
  18. Also; great write-up on both the history of the real machine, as well as the development of your model!
  19. Haha, great concept on the car, and very well implemented!
  20. Fantastic details! Also, love the movement of the hull-mounted machine gun, the engine compartment and the wheel hubs used on the front (idler?) wheels! Nice bass!
  21. I finished the 8434, you can download the LDraw file(s) here I think (it's on bricksafe). I don't know how to make a .mpd of the main model with subassemblies, so I put them all in a zip-folder. Like I said, it doesn't have any of the flex axles modelled, but everything else is pretty much spot on (except for a small issue with an axle going through a beam due to the length of the damped shock absorber).
  22. I'll try my hands on 8434 then. I'll model it with landing gear deployed and rotors tilted upwards ("vertical take off-mode"). Probably won't be able to LSynth the flex axles though
  23. The F40 is one of my all time favourite cars, and your Technic interpretation of it is pretty much spot on! Absolutely love it! If I were to build and display one Technic Supercar, this would surely be it, no doubt about that!
  24. Blakbird, you should post a picture! And remember; the topic clearly states "...ONE of your Technic models"! So happy choosing!:-)
  25. Nice build! I would however use a towball or something for the hitch, for it to be able to rotate around all three axis
