Indeed! -
Congratulations to the winners, well deserved indeed, some truly amazing models this time around! I didn't make the voting in time, believe it or not, I was in the process of reviewing the entries earlier today, only to realize the voting topic had been closed Anyway, it wouldn't have mattered either way I see, as the three winning entries would have still won Great contest, kudos to Jim for organizing as always, and again, congrats to the winners! Lastly; did not expect to win the bonus prize, but that is absolutely awesome, can't wait to try it out, and will make sure to make a video after installing it in my entry! Thanks a lot! Suddenly I have become a huge fan of bonus prizes

[TC6] Komatsu WA 600-6

If you have the LDD file, you can use File -> Export BOM If I remember correctly it outputs an Excel file with all parts used in the model- 58 replies

[WIP] Honda S2000
D3K replied to VKTechnic's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
They are actually among the fastest cars in the world! I learned this watching a documentary about fast and furious cars and people.. Can't recall the name of it though... I think Vin Diesel was in it -
Snowmobile (failed) project
D3K replied to miguev's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Haha, love the part at 0:47! Too bad you won't be able to finish it Hope you'll be able to finish it, it seemed to be working reasonably well in my opinion. I made one last year using the radio control parts (with two buggy motors) that seemed to be reasonably fast, but I never got around to trying it on actual snow Hope to rebuild it later this winter, or more likely next year- 10 replies

This is so cool, glad to see it worked fairly well! Did the daggerboards have a lot to say at this scale? Have never sailed a trimaran, so I'm not too familiar with the concept, but I assume they are for helping the boat go in a straight line? Also, love the building video!

Lego Serial Numbers?
D3K replied to DrJB's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
My guess it's sort of a batch number, or LOT number, as seen in for example ammunition. If a mistake is detected (for example a faulty part, or wrong part or the lack of a part), it's likely to be limited to a specific production run. Haven't noticed this before though, maybe it's a new system to be able to identify the batch without the need to open the box, as I believe was the case with the faulty 8043 LA's (wasn't the only way there to check the mold numbers on the parts themselves?) -
No one should dictate what you do with the bricks you've paid for, no matter how they are put together. I honestly see no difference between selling a preassembled NMOC and selling an official TLG set. If a designer is afraid of this happening, then they could simply not publish (free or paid) instructions for their creations! That being said, I'm all for credit being given where credit's due.

General Part Discussion
D3K replied to Polo-Freak's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I'm pretty sure the 3L u-joint is not a matter of cost cutting (the savings would be absolutely minimal for such a small part), but rather for better integration into studless building system. Same logic as for the new driving ring system actually.- 5,465 replies

Lego Lathe - a Youtube Find
D3K replied to DrJB's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Seen that one before, it is indeed a beautiful design with a lot of nice, life like functions.. Too bad it's not really functional There are some nice CNC mills out there, using NXT/Mindstorms to actually mill out 3D figures from a soft material (the kind you put flowers in), but I'm sure you've seen it -
I think the looks are actually quite good, given your available parts. Definitely a step up from your McLaren P1. I feel however that the functions are a bit awkward. Especially the 4th motorized function, raising the suspension on one wheel because the weight is off. That shouldn't really need to be a function. Sorry if this comes out a bit harsh, it is meant as constructive criticism. Like I said, it's a good progression from your P1, and I wish you good luck in the contest! EDIT: Also; shouldn't the video show some actual driving?

[TC6] Blast From the Past [WIP]
D3K replied to D3K's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Oh, sorry if things were unclear In effect, it means the pneumatic functions are self-controlled, as long as there is air coming. The output port of the IR receiver/SBrick just drives a pneumatic pump, which builds up pressure in the system, and then the actions are executed in the (hopefully) correct order, and then repeated. So I don't have direct control of either of the valves via remote, the only thing I control from there is the pumps. When air starts flowing, it executes functions in the following order depending on where the arms/claw is when the cycle begins: Claw closes -> arms lift -> claw opens -> arms lower -> claw closes -> arms lift -> and so on and so forth. As long as the pumps go, this cycle will keep on repeating itself -
14.
