Explorer's Cabin, Camp Isaac, Cascadia
Garmadon replied to Elostirion's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Great build, Elostirion, wonderful work with the jungle and cabin - I'm really liking all the instruments and things hanging from the walls For some reason or another I'm not feeling like much of a fan of the yellow flowers on the tree, but the animals in sight and hidden in the undergrowth are a great addition! Actually the first thing I thought after reading the description too- 16 replies

Thanks Niku! Glad you like them! Thanks mrcp6d! It was actually originally an accident that one arrow slit ended up higher than the other, but I happened to like it so just went on from there! Thanks en_zoo!

[ETTC Cocoa Factory] Grinding and pressing plant
Garmadon replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Wee! Very nice factory, Bregir - loving that steam engine outside! - and great job describing and walking us through the production process! The machinery looks wonderful as well and those masonry brick pillars out front really add something great here! Excellent work, and I'm looking forward to seeing the other parts of the collaboration!- 17 replies

Sea Rats: Sign-up and Discussion
Garmadon replied to Darkdragon's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Welcome to BoBS, @RocketSeason! Great sigfig, and looking forward to seeing more of that ship! -
Thanks all! Thanks Kai! I love that water technique! I'd have to agree somewhat about the round tower - somebody really needs to come up with another easy way to do it that doesn't require so many of those! Thanks Titus! Necessity is the mother of invention, they say (I don't have one of those portcullis pieces)! Glad you like the posing as well, it was rather fun! Thanks Faladrin, and yes, that's the NINJAGO panel The castle was originally going to be more oriental - hence the flag and Japanese over the entrance way. Glad you like it! Thanks Gunman! I was quite happy with how the landscape turned out - simple terrain variation can really work well!

Barnaby's Outlaw Training Camp | Garmadon | Mitgardia Barnaby's Escapade | Garmadon | Mitgardia -
Great to see that you'll looking into joining up, Cozei, welcome to GoH! Sounds like you pretty much have it down, but you may also want to check out the Safe Haven challenge which is currently running as soon as you've settled on a Guild. As to storylines - yep, there's pretty much every point in the spectrum here, from those who don't write much at all generally to those who have tremendous ongoing stories connecting all their builds. I'm sure you'll find the notch you're happy in!

Book II - Mitgardia: Guild sign-up and Discussion
Garmadon replied to Ecclesiastes's topic in Guilds of Historica
A new free-build from me! - and the official start of my hopefully ongoing storyline! Barnaby's Escapade -
It was a beautiful day in Mitgardia. Sir Uridius Dratiphe was standing one of the towers flanking the gatehouse - the taller one; he always made a point of only standing on the taller one - he liked feeling the wind and sniffing in the healthy, bracing, northern air. Plus, he liked keeping a look out for Algus and other brigands and suchlike. Suddenly a cart turned up the road and came into view. A couple of fellows - one of them pertly waving up at them - walked up with it to the drawbridge, where, curiously enough, the cart stopped, and the two chaps started unloading and rolling in their wares. "Most intriguing!" remarked Sir Uridius to the guard besides him, "I do believe I've never seen a merchant stop right outside instead of actually coming in the town before." "You think it's suspicious, sir?" inquired the guard, "shall I go down and check what's up?" "Exactly," returned Sir Uridius, "and if that Barnaby fellow we've heard of recently has any of his dreadful schemes up again, make sure you stop them in good time." The guard headed down accordingly, putting on a most important air. Suddenly there was a bit of a scuffle in the court, and Barnaby himself (who had rode up under the cart, and who had managed to sneak in to do the dealing when no one happened to be looking) came flying out toward the gate. "Raise the drawbridge, shut the portcullis!" exclaimed Sir Uridius excitedly. The order was too slow, however (and the other fellow on guard had spent too long waving his sword at the outlaw...) And Barnaby rushed up the rising drawbridge and leapt out to freedom - and as the portcullis had slammed shut just in front of the other guard who was pursuing them, the outlaws made good their escape, much to Sir Uridius and his guards' chagrin. "What was he up to?" the former asked as the rather crestfallen guard came up. "Oh, nothing much - only selling smuggled Kaliphlin oil to the cook and housekeeper." "What!?" exclaimed Sir Uridius, utterly put out - "selling untaxed oil in this castle? That's enough to put a man in the sulks all day long!" "Yes, and he charged double for it," the guard ventured hesitantly. "This must be taken care of!" exclaimed the knight again, ignoring the guard. "A smuggler in this castle?! Bah! We have a time-honored tradition here of paying taxes, and it won't go be messed up with impunity! Come along, sirrah, we must concoct a plan..." Figless, and with the portcullis down: Another build from me! Just a freebuild for GoH as it happens - it is also the exterior of a different scene I uploaded a few days ago on Flickr, though, and a slightly changed version of my functional castle for the LCBTC. The portcullis and drawbrige both actually work, though unfortunately I had to scrap the collapsing wall and moving road functions when removing the base and finalizing this smaller build. Credit for the cart design (slightly altered) to the tutorial over on brickbuilt! Here's a shot of all the figs together: Thanks for viewing, C&C are welcome!

Ah! - great harp design, there, I'd missed that over on Flickr! Excellent architecture and great elfish colorscheme as usual, LJ, and I'm liking the rowboats and dark grey trees in particular! The stairs out front and those connecting the different buildings from the back are quite neat too! Keep it up!

Very nice builds, both of you, and very clever way to deal with the whole Lorenzi craze thing-y! Great job with the nighttime alleyway feel in the first one, Bregir, and the plant and drawer are some neat details in the second (and epic photography as always, Ayrlego!) Looking forward to what you all have to propose! - Oh, never mind, there it is... Oh, never mind that - still looking forward to it!

Great to see something from you again! Neat work with the scene - the well and awning are some excellent details, and the blue colors add a lot to the cool feel of the build! Very nice work with the background as well, especially the snow-topped mountain back there!

[SR-FB 12] Shipwreck Bay (medium fort)
Garmadon replied to Jacob Nion's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Ah! - beautiful! We have so not seen enough of these in BoBS - absolutely wonderful execution here, mate, perfect use of those large arches there! And very pirate-y idea to reuse it as a fort. Keep it up! -
[SR - FB 4 June 17] The Rogers Inn
Garmadon replied to Professor Thaum's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
What, no weapons allowed? Bah! (I suppose that doesn't include hidden ones, though... ) Nice work with this tavern, Professor, and quite fitting as a way to start off a Sea Rat settlement! I'm liking that hat and coat rack and the dart target by the door too -
An awesome band of pirates who all look fit to rule the seas be hung from a yardarm, Captain Morgan! And I'll agree with the others - that's how it's done! (Why couldn't we get away with it?? Ah, the advantages of being a Sea Rat... ) Great addition of the stores off to the side, and though they're little details, the moving water beside the boat - and especially by that fellow's leg! - add so much to the overall picture! Excellent work!

Wow that turtle! Excellent parts usage there, and a great build all around! Those tan pizza slices work very well in the sand too, I'll have to remember that if I ever get my hands on any! And ha! - I knew a little water couldn't kill the famous infamous Captain Morgan!
-
Very nice build, LJ, as I said on Flickr, those sand green hangings and the dark blue in the walls really catch the eye! Great inclusion of that little interior too!

"If you please," broke in Captain Bowditch, "one thing more before you retire. Is it the custom in the worthy Empire of Corrington, my dear Don Montoya, to consult the other nations of the Brick Seas when it claims a new island which it has discovered and explored? "Ah! Much less, then, you see, when it had been common knowledge to all that Eslandola and Mardier had been locked in a conflict involving - though by no means limited - to this land, did it pertain to Eslandola to inquire about among all the nations of the Brick Seas to see if they agreed to the peace treaty signed between these two sovereign nations at the war's termination, involving the final and legal claiming of this land. While members of the nation of Corrington undoubtedly aided greatly in the liberation of Terraversa from the Mardierian yolk, for which we are grateful, it had never committed to one side or the other in the war, and therefore the peace treaty (and stipulation as to this island) might be signed and legally binding without their express consent, just as the declaration of war against Mardier's aggression required no prior approving of other parties. "But, in all honestly, it was truly my intention [a fact] to see to it that the final peace treaty and it conclusive nature as to the fact that this island was legally left in Eslandola's hands was published in the Pontelli Daily for all nations to see and read, but unfortunately, what with one distraction and the other - the council, the settlements, and looking after the Mardierians and islanders left or abandoned in parts of the island - I had not been able to see to it. I am quite sorry that I did not, however, as it could have helped in avoiding this regrettable confusion. "And now, gentlemen, if you will excuse me, I should like to have a chat with our good Captain Mesabi here," - and with a bow he turned off to their companions and walked off with them on a bit of a stroll. "I hear, my dear sir, that your company has been thriving lately, and that your aid has been indispensable to your Corry brethren in this whole humanitarian affair? Do tell me of it. And that sabotaging of the vessel - quite astonishing! The daring perpetrators must certainly be found and brought to justice. Yes! I'll say! Why... And they slowly faded off into the distance as the night shadows closed in.

Another awesome ship here! - fabulous work, Faladrin, and a lovely result with this vessel! The colorscheme and those sails are superb, and the brick-built anchor and cabin access are just a couple of awesome details - there are too many their to mention! Those rafts around it look great as well, and I know I just paid Captain B the same compliment on his, but I do believe that this is your best ship yet too! Keep on improving, mate, it's been great having you (and all your native builds! ) with us in Eslandola!

Fantastic ship, Captain B, lovely colors and color-blocking! The tilted sides, impressive fore and aft castles, and those sails look great as well, and the walkway/balcony on the back and those lanterns are excellent details too! I think it's your most impressive and best ship that I've seen yet! Looking forward to seeing what happens next! (Ok,.maybe not )!

Excellent build in general, Kai, but the posing, expressions, and above all the story are absolutely fantastic! You've even exceeded my idea with Captain Argentum here, and that's saying a lot! Brilliant work all around, and definitely my favorite thing to come of this yet! Oh, but I will mention that parts usage on the cannon and the boat too notwithstanding!
-
Recognized that tower too! Excellent MOD (and neat choice of a set to alter for that!), looks quite fitting to me, and I really like the green troops and otherwise subdued colorscheme The rocky base, water, and little bit of a pathway just add so much as well - very nice work!
