  1. Great idea, definitely would be a useful new option.
  2. Thanks for sharing the LXF file for this great piterx MOC! One of my favorite, ever. p.s.: I love your flickr pics FX6000, really a pleasure to check them time to time... and great models to be find there.
  3. Great Details, thanks for sharing! The 6L link seems a bit stressed, but if not much - and it seems so, I personally can live with it.
  4. Very promising and interesting entry, I love the clean and modular concept You delivered already.
  5. This is the perfect scale, looks amazing! Didn't You changed Your mind about a video (raw footage is fine too)?
  6. Great MOC, I like it a lot. I am interested in the performance, and in the construction of the rear swingarms, can You post some detail shots, please?
  7. Didomus69, You really put the Ultimate label on the 42056, now it really looks like as it should. Great respect for Your commitment.
  8. I never thought, that I will look at a bus with interest (neither technically, nor for pleasuring my eyes), but it seems You achieved to change my mind. I am really looking forward how the functions work, and what is the engineering behind. I only see a lot of switches now...
  9. I don't think we have very different feelings about this. Being around for a while, my observation is, that giving credit is not an issue for any forum member, but natural behaviour. If we discuss about "outsiders" in the forum, it has not much use, there is a conversation about something what is natural for us, but the message will not arrive to those, whose activity might considered as disrespectful. And that's why I agree with rm8. It is a good feeling and good feedback if You get credit, but nothing negative if this doesn't happen. I build for fun in first row, to challange myself (MOCing) and to share these experiences with people who suffer from the same passion. This is my definition for hobby. Cheers!
  10. I am so happy to see that the forum (and of course the People on the forum) can elevate the passion and manifests it in such international events. Heartwarming, I am really looking forward for the videos, pictures, I wish the best fun for every participants!
  11. Agree 100%. Let's keep our hobby for fun, and this place as Unikitty's Cloud Technic.
  12. Welcome here, what an introduction! So beautifully ugly MOC, don't get me wrong, the real thing is ugly so You made a very good work on design , and all the mechanical solutions, gears, axles, actuators everywhere... pure gearhead porn. I also miss a bit the playability, but was just a little compromise for functions, good decision in my opinion. Special thanks for the very detailed presentation, professional and educational.
  13. I am not sure about the cultural differences nowadays. What You describe, was correct in the past, but today's China is more capitalist than the Western world. I am sure, they have the numbers behind their company strategy, and their production is not based on respect. Also for me it is not about protecting or owning the idea. There is a LOT of hard intellectual and physical work of lot people behind, what chinese companies just take over, so they do save this costs basically. Most people can't imagine how many people works how many hours till a simple thing will be realized - name literally any product. You are right with Ideas, it is indeed a huge mix. Law and such is a big gray border zone for me, I am too simple to comment on that.
  14. Florian, I see You don't understand the message of my comment. I am not talking about scalpers on aftermarket, who are in the same Shameless Pot as thieves, in my opinion. Nobody forces us to buy neither LEGO nor Lepin. Honestly living doesn't requires either. It is You, who press yourself to fullfill a whish. If this happen, based on personal preferences. For me there is too much additional negative effects and questionably behaviour. Reminder: look at the big picture, don't think only in LEGO vs Lepin relation and in Euros. + 1 thing I never understood: why people always come up with MISB sets when it comes about discontinued sets and prices, what is wrong with second-hand LEGO? You can make great deals on them too, just needs a little hunting effort to look up the internet. I made it several times already.
  15. Yepp, as I see, this is a quite new situation, or better to say: a new level of the bootleg situation, and we still learn how to handle this. That's why it is good to have this Topic, and read all the opinions and arguments. Still: "Nobody tells me what for should I spend my money" is not an argument.
  16. @ crossmr: Music downloading is very different case, there is only 1 company (music publisher) who owns exclusively the rights for intellectual properties. They fight with end customers - individuals, for not realizing more and more money (greediness??), instead of enjoying a kind of free advertisement - just my opinion. This is fight for profit extension. With LEGO and clones we speak about fight between companies, and for the same (more-less, sorry for generalization) exact valuable market. This is a classic competition where each participant tries to win bigger slice with own innovations (healthy competition), or by spying, stealing (unhealthy, unethical competition). Back to bootlegs, some thoughts: I am not afraid, that LEGO will loose profit, and yes all bootleg company who steals designs should be handled in the same way. Till now the quality of the bootleg bricks was an easy filter, and many just didn't bought them. Chinese brands deliver today pretty good bricks as seen on reviews, but this is still not an issue, I even dare to say it is a good thing to see them improve. BUT If they can do this, why don't they invest in design too? There are numberous answers in this topic already for this question. This is where the red lamp gone on to me, I reached my tolerance limit. I look at the big picture and all of my reactions are not focused on LEGO copies issue only as AFOL, but in general as human being. I don't like this phenomenon, whatever area of life and human interactions we are talking about - I am sure all of us can name such in own-life experience. So what can I do on my level? I don't support those companies by bying from them, just like I don't help thieves on street to break up cars, or stealing handbags. It is a decision, to take the personal social responsibility. We have a huge value in our hands, the chance of choice, and we must use it in a responsible way. Yes, I am idealist, but I believe in education too - like this conversation topic. About stealing LEGO's or MOCers IP, I don't see much difference, only MOCers are more naked, they have ZERO resources to fight. If we buy those sets, and legitimize bootleg companies to do this, what will cause this in long-term? Probably less and less MOCs will be shared, and the whole sense and role of such communities like EUROBRICKS will shrink and gets demoralized. But even could happen, that there willl be a race between MOCers, whose creation will be copied next? Seriously, looking at history, this has less chance, I don't want to see loosing the fun of playing. It is strange for me, if someone says: I don't have enough money to buy original, so I buy fake ones. If You can't afford, than You don't buy it. It is that easy. We are not talking about primer needs like drinking, eating, living. I also agree with Captain Pirate Man, shipping, customs included - this is what many just forget to calculate or deny to confess -, Lepin's price is not that attractive any more for those who don't live in China.
  17. I am busy on finding affordable color combination for this amazing MOC, as my next build. I ended up with ICON tuned version, again... I would like to share the result, maybe some will find it useful. Huge thanks for IK84 for the base model on Mecabricks: http://www.mecabricks.com/en/models/EMgaXKwevz0 Cheers!
  18. I just googled it, and found this comment on Facebook, by the MOC designer: No further comment needed.
  19. One of my favorite Cartoon, great MOC! One remark: I would use Technic axles (or other solution) for the legs, flex axles are poseable - if You hold them, but Bender will not able to stay on own feet... ok I got it, it must represent the "too many beer" effect.
  20. We have fine conversation with arguments in depth here, this is a good thing. @Adamski I think Your thinking is a bit twisted and forced. It is the scale and the drive which makes a difference. An AFOL or kid will replicate LEGO sets for FUN - and does it once or twice. Lepin replicates them for making MONEY - and does it in mass production. LEGO's advantage furthermore is being open source, inspires to creativity, and to discover new things You can build (see 3 in 1 creator sets). Are this values to be find in LEPIN? Absolutely not. There is no any added value in their products. Nothing. They not even bothered to create an own logo. Replacing letters doesn't count, it is the same size logo, same format, same colors, same lettering. And we all know why: it must be so close to original, that it misleads the people, us. On purpose. They just don't want more, than utilize LEGO's history and all the values and promotional advantages they have built up in the last decades. Here comes general ethic in the discussion. If someone made intellectual value before, and knows how much time and passion goes in it, than there is no question about why it is destructive. I know, I did, and not for money. Honestly, I don't mind that they release retired sets, I was also tempted as I saw them. But copying fresh sets in that amount as they do, is clearly broke the symphathy from my side. As the situation now, I take my mature head, and say: things must be stopped at a certain point, I don't need to feed my greediness, I will not be happier due to having some materials more, believing: "yes I made a good (cheap) business". I know, I would lie to myself, and would feel bad later. I would be happy to see competition with LEGO, and in good quality probably I even would combine the two systems. (I made actually with Oxford bricks, they do original designs and have good quality bricks.) Cheers!
  21. I just scrolled trough the facebook page of Lepin - didn't know that it exists. This is just shameless crime, and advertised worldwide, with the message: there is nothing wrong with stealing, but in fact, it is a respectable performance. (It would be if we would speak about 1 guy reproducing 1 copy of something, but not about a company and mass production.) Children grow up with this implementation seeing such websites, how ill is that??! Are there mature enough personalities around to explain why is this destructive? I can only hope... First, in the beginning of the year I thought it is just acceptable phenomenon, like Enlighteen or similar clones were couple of years ago, but seeing the offensive growing product spectrum of Lepin... this is a very different situation. I will for sure not participate in support such people, no matter how good quality bricks they can produce, for what price.
  22. This is indeed very well sculpted, great job!
  23. Now that is RAT. In my opinion the size of the wheels is out of proportion, but as surviving machine in a post-apocalyptic world? Yes, please! I guess a little higher top speed due to the bigger diameter (107 vs 94 mm), and a little less agile due to the additional weight.
  24. The generic brand effect You are refering to is not a common thing in EU, so maybe this makes it harder to understand for us - just my thinking. I do understand what it means, and I know it exists is Europe as well, but not common at all, only on special (mass) markets. If for everything... I doubt. Is there f.e.: a generic Porsche car - same shape, same performance, very same parts built in? Using a questionable moral of western capitalism to legitimize the theory is just bad in my opinion. It is like You say: breaking/stealing/burning somebody's hard earned property is OK, because we know this happened already before in history. I do not judge anyone, I just think this way of thinking is not logical / right. We live in a (hopefully) improving human society, is this correct that we tolerate and feed things and behaviors, which should not belong to our culture? Sorry for OFF.
  25. Agree, it is all about the IP. One thing is the clutch method and piece design (where the LEGO patent is expired), and another, how You combine those, till the result is beautiful, buildable, stable and safe. Not to mention the additional work like graphic design, instruction making, etc... The Lepin modulars look good, because LEGO's original designs look good. IF Lepin would use only own designs, or would buy the designs from MOC-ers (could be the case, but somehow I doubt that this is happening), than there would be some kind of competition with LEGO. However I find it very useful that there are such topics on Eurobricks, at least we have a look to the "outer world".
