  1. As mentioned, I didn't noticed any problem with this cosmetical change, not even in structural stability (see: the cabin was still rigid enough). One hint: just try to fix the parts in every directions by beams and/or pins, don't be afraid of trial and error.
  2. Hi @evortigosa, I also don't remember how I did, but I encourage You just try and build, as I remember it was a bloody simple MOD. Once You finished, every picture is welcome here! Have fun!
  3. I love it, works like charm! The video is honest, shows what needed, and the quality is good.
  4. I had some spare time, so I experienced a bit in my Off-road garage. Unfortunatelly low light + no camera stand, so the result is not very good, but maybe worth to share. Enjoy!
  5. Fully agree with @z3_2drive Side note: actually I don't keen on the logos (oversized logos are unduly exhibitionist and tasteless), that's why I suggested to blend (hide) them. Of course You decide in the end of the day.
  6. Agree, it looks really cool, and the suspensions seem to be solved in a clever / innovative way! Love the small details.
  7. Hello All, finally I could take some time to document my version of this top-notch piece of engineering. I wanted to make a new-school design, also I decided for LBG as main color, mainly because the #3 and #44 connectors, and to make it more affordable for myself. Of course it looks great too: simple, elegant, yet rough. (ICON? You can bet.) To achieve a modern look, I modified the bodywork, doors, rollcage, front grill, many tiny details and conncetions... the chassis is basically the same. I replaced the front hubs by the Porsche/CLAAS ones (they were surprisingly affordable at S&H couple of month ago), not because this makes the front axle more rigid, I just wanted to have a more homogen look. The control takes place via normal IR, for serving the juice I chose rechargable 9V battery with MiniZip cable. This setup can last for 30-45 minutes continous hardcore drive, which perfectly fits to my playing needs. Despite the usage of the differentials, this MOC climbs really-really well, I was surprised how powerful it is. The only small drawback is maybe the noticable backlash in the steering system, but this is something, what belongs to LEGO - not really an issue. Bigger pictures are available HERE. @Madoca 1977 Hat-off for this cunning, elegant, iconic masterpiece, and for sharing it! I am very thankful and dare to say, I own the perfect Off-road LEGO vehicle I was always dreaming about. Advanced technical trails anyone? - Yes, please!
  8. Glad to see, that it was usefull. I must admit, it looks pretty damn cool, must build it. Maybe rm8 gets also inspiration not to abandon this project... @Offroadcreations: would You mind to model it in LDD?
  9. This is a really well done C-model, despite it's assumed simplicity (Monster Truck...rolls, turns...okay), actually there is a lot going on underneath!
  10. Okay, if You want so... I was hoping for some nice exhaust pipes instead of the trunk... What about DBG for the H logos? In my opinion they would blend a bit more in, thus let the focus on the nice red curves. You also mentioned, that DBG is kind of your "trademark". I would check both, with thin outer lines and thick one, delete the LBG axle from the grill, use a normal 3M pin in black instead: One more note, the visible bushes beside in the rear, would look better in red, would bridge the rear curves nicely. When do You plan to build it?
  11. Hints: https://www.lego.com/hu-hu/service/buildinginstructions/search?initialsearch=75525#?text=75525 EDIT: OOOPS - I just see, it is the cross-axle version , sorry. Also if You don't find an alternative to remove the connectors, I suggest to move them to the bottom with 2M axle, and replace the upper axles for 8M (if I see it correctly).
  12. If You ask me, forget trunk door, and such. It would ruin the base concept in my opinion. I do think, this is on the right direction already, from now on I would focus on cleaning the lines, revise the connections, remove / replace unnecessary parts, etc... edit: looks awesome!
  13. And what about using small linear actuator, like Danil03 did HERE? How much is the backlash with this solution? p.s.: sorry, but for proper term usage - the named car is not a truggy, but 4x4 off-roader. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Truggy
  14. BTW, I like the rear window and the doors , which can be smoother with such a solution: I am sure, fine tuning will also happen during the real build - You are a perfectionist, or similar, right?
  15. Stunning work, my first tought was: how well matches this car in the line up of current TOP supercars. Bravo!
  16. I really like how You reworked the colors! I also do believe, that the Porsche tires will look very well on the model. I would maybe remove these small panels, and some kind of rear lights would look great. Waiting for the real build! It is a pity, that this concept (robust, sleek tubular bodywork) can not be made in a very clean way in Lego, but this is really just nitpicking.
  17. Beautifully compact and clever ideas, thanks fo sharing them, and for bringing the theme on the table Oracid! I believe the idea from Tommy would have a great use as crane arm extension.
  18. Looking the picture again and again, I agree that the color is really strange choice. I am not against something new, but for 42070 I would prefer more such blue-yellow combination, like this Kenworth by haiout (below). It is vibrant, and also uncommon for official sets. I know, color change most likely will not happen, only seen at Porsche, but that was for different purpose. This picture is also a nice reference for scale, as the power puller tires have almost the same diameter as the CLAAS ones. It must be HUGE. edit: I consider 42070 the perfect base for such beast MOCs. SOURCE
  19. Hello Didumos, I know, it is Your project, but respectfully I made some visual modifications. The good: You inspire me, this is the reason (I have a similar concept in my mind for years, but never started to realize). This was just a quicke, so some connections might be not 100% checked. Also the rear is really just thrown together (I am not sure, if the rear light holder panel has the clearance for the rear wheel) - I am not keen on it, must be improved. The sides are half baked - left side done only. I kept the Hammer Head spirit on the front, cleaned up a bit - no grills, but put the focus on the headlights. I hope You find it usefull for improving this great project! Modded LXF file.
  20. My guess is for that: switch between winch and tow arm raising/lowering - stabilizers and ... ?
  21. 42070 resembles indeed like the Ural - TruckTrial version. The tow arm and the headlights look cheap for me, other than that a promising MOD base. I like it a lot! There is a Bionicle tooth on the rear side of the cab, I believe it is a shifter like in 42054 - based on it's position. Changing functions by changing chanels on IR would be also an option to switch between drive, and towing functions.
  22. As a packaging designer (although for industrial market, not displays like here) I can confirm this. So many small pieces (bulk material) in such a huge box with flexible sides would cause that the sides can belly, as the small pieces extend downwards and outwords, thus damage the box due the extra stress on the corners and edges. In extreme cases the packed goods can burst the walls. This goes mainly for vertical position of the box, or if You lift it horizontally. Another effect is the stacking (horizontally), one put a box with smaller footprint on a bigger one, without internal support structure (like the small white box) the thin wall (here: lid) can burst or crack. And there goes our discount...
  23. Have You painted the panels at the tracks? If yes, which method and paint was used (looks professional)! Great model, + coffee mug!
  24. Spintires in Lego? Yes, please! I like what we got, and the variety of the sets considering a whole year is good (13 sets known, just like in 2016). I don't see need for a mandatory anniversary model, if we get the usual high quality products, than great. The small piece is already a nice touch in this year. I kinda have a feeling, that a contest, or an extra set will come later in spring - but will be not disappointed if this won't happen. @ the 6x6 Tow Truck: I wouldn't count on CLAAS tires, but more the 81,6x38 ones. I don't see why to go bigger, everything can be fitted in this scale - just like 2LegoOrNot2Lego did with his Kraz. Of course, I will be not disappointed if it will come with Tumbler or with Unimog tires. Even if it is not motorized, but with Pneumatic and fake engine with drivetrain, could be a hit (for me for sure)! I expect something beautifully ugly, like this:
