Mechanical Chain Counter
agrof replied to uefchen's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Great mechanics, bravo! It would be nice though, if You could use embedded videos. It is just copying the link here, and it wil be automatically converted. -
I really-really like this one, unconventional, yet proportional. The spot lights were also cool, with better integration in the front they are OK, but I must admit the new lights blend much better in overall shape. I think the air intakes are better in LBG, or maybe You could try these fence pieces: Ahhh, and this guy has definitely interest to own this car.

[MOD] Extreme 4x4 9395
agrof replied to offroadcreations's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
It looks really-really cool for me, love the pneumatic towing crane arm, and the final proportions! The 9395 was definitely good choice as a base model. If it drives as well as it looks, than it is a damn good MOC. Ah, and the frame car just tops the concept. -
[MOCs] Pickup & Hatchback
agrof replied to Madoca 1977's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Love them, for me the most appealing feature (and the way You solved) are the locks for the differentials. I like that they are manual, and the 3 shifter in the middle consol is just like in reality. The shape of the Hatchback is just beautiful , it would be great as a manual model too (idea: combined with the annyversary chassis remake - even if it is slightly larger scaled). -
Altough it is a minor thing, I was not entirely sure about the angle of the windshield: it looks cool and chopped-like, but for those like me, I made a patch. With this modification the angle is steeper, and the dashboard-roof distance is increased by 1/2 stud. The A-pillar elements and the counterparts for them on the top to be replaced as well - shown in the picture. LEFT - original; RIGHT - 1/2 stud MOD; LDD file here.

[MOC] Back to the Future Toyota
agrof replied to paave's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Superb performance, great MOC again! Could You show us details about the steering mechanism please? It looks like You use the M motor as direct drive attached through 2M rubber damper(s) to the linkage, right? I am not sold totally on the bodywork, probalby the "lot" small pieces caused gaps disturbe the sleekness - especially at the B-pillar area. -
Impossible LEGO
agrof replied to Boxerlego's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Time for bumping this interesting topic, I ran today into this: Surprisingly it "works" with axle holes only. -
I would choose some gentle color, which is present, but not pushy visually - thus the focus remains on the car body. My vote goes for LBG or TAN.

Thanks guys! It is on Rebrickable too: http://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-6632/agrof/suzuki-jimny-4x4-pull-back-monster/ I took some noisy photos in the garage, it is really more than CAD theory. Here You can observe the gentle gap between the fender and the hood, which was a design goal to achieve.

Agree with Imanol BB, the more weight You add, the more the risk, that u-joints and gears will crack. A gear reduction (portal axles) might be involved if You add the crane. Looks good so far!

Thanks, glad You like it! I updated the LDD file - I missed to add 1 pin into it's group - please update your copies, in case.

Excellent One Day build, You did it well with sharing! I love these small but foxy Mocs. Could You share details and maybe video about the engine and it's sound, plese? You made me curious.

Hello All, hereby I present You the King of the Pull-Backs, which for I had the idea for very long time. Teaser picture is coming: Where has it started? Well, I had these parts lurking around, and really wanted to test them together: Recently, while I was playing with my Mini Suzuki Samurai, got the idea, how well the body and those parts above would fit together. As I really like the body lines of the Samurai, I decided to keep it, and improve. Let's take a look at on it, the common DNA is quite obvious, that's why I decided to keep it in the Suzuki off-road family, and named as Jimny. I set some constrains for me, like: keeping the body, but reconstruct it using 12M axles for the wheels make it affordable make it sturdy make it fast Here is a picture from inner structure, and how I set the distance with pulley wheels for the chubby tires, and increased the friction for the 12M axle: And one more insight shot (roof is hidden). It was pretty challenging to build a reliable and buildable inner structure for the shape I set in my mind, but finally it works, prototype works and sturdy enough for crashes! The hood still has some flex play, but nothing falls apart. Meanhile the build I made some records for me: Big and heavy wheels have a ton of angular momentum, but 4 Pull Back motors do the job. Big and heavy wheels help to keep the center of gravity low, so it jumps pretty stable. You need extra attention to load both axles properly, but once it is done...whooooooooooooooosh!!!!!! - my 42034 lost the run. (Video might follow, but no promise.) My painting skill (and patience for it) sucks... I want to paint the rims in black, but I have to make a second try on it. I don't find right time and place for taking sharp photos, so I present it as LDD renders, meanwhile I have a built one beside me... sorry. I am also waiting for missing color correct parts (on the way). As an engineer, I wanted to add some extra technical bit first, like suspension, but I realized soon, that it makes the loading of the motors very difficult (as You need to push the car downwards), makes the whole construction very complicated, and adds weight for no reason here. Keep it simple: low weight, big power. BUT, I was smart enough to integrate one nice feature though, and I proudly present You the first Drive Mode Selector in a Pull Back car! HERE You can download the LDD file, I tried to divide the model into small building groups, and built up in the most wallet friendly version. Some parts are mislocated, after real life build, I realised some stress and reinforcement need, but to fix minor placement issues in LDD, I would have to build it again from the ground. We can conclude, that I don't have the patience for it. TO DO: flip the pins (in the side panels) and the 2M rubber damper (under the hood), and push the windshield together - that's it. This is what You get in the LXF file: And finally, some possible versions - I am building the red one. Small part count (284 pcs), great fun. Enjoy! Edit: one small fix in LDD file - v3.31

Technic 2017 Set Discussion
agrof replied to CM4Sci's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I am on the opposite side, I find it cool, and it is kind of realistic. Working with real tow trucks requires both manual and remote controlled operations - actually mostly all functions have both. Using this feature for making the truck RC driveable "Trial Truck" is a great package by LEGO. (BTW: pendular suspension is actual suspension. ) -
[MOC] Mercedes-Benz G 4x4
agrof replied to stricekfido's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Looks it has reasonable performance, and a very cool look - love the "weared" appearance, it says: I am a tool, not a sitting-on-the-shelf-dust-collector, use me! A good example, that it is worth to grab ideas from others, this doesn't decrease the value of a MOC. -

What about Sariel's wheel chart? It covers pretty much the combinations, except third party tires, and possible, but illegal ones. http://wheels.sariel.pl/ Hope it helps You further. -
We are soon at the end of the journey, great to see the whole process, thanks for sharing it! Fenders are really unnecessary here, I believe I don't miss Didumos's thinking: this is one basestone of the design. I admit it might be unconvinient for conservative eyes - just consider it as a concept car. The doors are good in red in my opinion, I like how You have a red "tub" and a clearly distuingished black roof, and all combined with sleek lines. @Didumos69 Could You replace the windshield axles with normal 6M ones, or is the gap tighter than half bush? You will for sure find a solution for the front wheel rub, waiting for the final photos and video.

Technic 2017 Set Discussion
agrof replied to CM4Sci's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
See one reason above, and keep in mind: the pirate companies are very busy on promoting with LEGO (official and by reviewers publicated) pictures and videos - only logo is changed. Why should LEGO support them to give the whole marketing material in their hands for free? The world made a twist, this is one result of it. -

I just love the way they did the anniversary surprise, it is very creatrive in many ways! (Luckily I have all the parts for it.) The 2H sets look great too, though I don't really dig the 42069 (but fun accessories, I like that), let's wait for it's details. Ah, and so many new colored pieces! -
The seller offers the built model, but considering that he sells copycat Porsche as well, it is questionable if all the parts are geniune LEGO. Also interesting that he advertises the time of collecting and building as part of the deal and to be evaulated... + cost of building instructions (for free ones as well).

I agree with J_C, probably this is one effect of the aggressive behavior of the pirate companies. Even showing pictures only does have huge marketing value, and it really matters who puts first in the publicity - especially in these internet days, where instant informations rule the consumer's world. It is a fact, that majority of the people wants NOW and wants CHEAP, I don't believe they will think twice or moralize about placing order, once they see the input on the screen. From this point of view I understand the secrecy. Just a bit more patience, and we will know more.
