Pvdb replied to Erik Leppen's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Interesting discussion. In the past I have used non Lego parts to finish off a model, but I was never particularly satisfied with the result, because I had not met the challenge of finding a solution with the Lego parts in front of me. So, for me, if I am building a Lego MOC and taking it seriously then it is not going to have any 3rd party parts in it, or broken/cut parts either. However, if it is just about having a bit of fun at home, then why not use a 3rd party control system, or something. As for 3rd party stickers, I am not really sure. I never use stickers on Lego even when building a Lego set, but I can't deny that a few of the MOC presented over the years have looked great with their custom sticker sets. So for me, as long a the MOC looks great with or without the non Lego stickers then I think there is no issue.- 179 replies

I have to say, that I am not that blown away by this one, and that is an understatement. While some good new parts, and overall the shape is pretty good compared to the real car, there are some parts of the build that ruin it for me, like the flex axle above each door, and the headlights. Also, given that this is a technic set, in my opinion it is pretty unforgivable if it doesn't have a gearbox.

I can completely relate to the - not enough time - family, kids, issue. I have my next MOC that's 95% complete just sitting there staring at me, right now as I "work at home" (whilst obviously multitasking by checking Eurobricks - well is also lunchtime). There are still some really great MOCs being built, but perhaps some of the most prolific builders of the last 5-10 years have just slowed their output slightly??

I like it. Looks great and some really nice details. I like the front bonnet shaping especially. -

Nice job Clive, (I mean Gilly?). It looks great, and a lot tidier than when I last saw it. -
In my opinion, whether or not the gearbox matches a real gearbox is less of a concern and lets be honest, given that most gearboxes have many electronics these days it is almost impossible to replicate mechanically with Lego. Therefore, I think it is more important that the gearbox is conceptually interesting and perhaps looks to follow a few conceptual aspects of the car it is based on. Likewise with all of the other mechanisms. The key factors for me are how smoothly they work, how sturdy, and of course whether they follow the design concepts of the real car, and finally how they are operated. The real challenging part of the design in my experience is the body, and from the pictures it seems to me that they have nailed it this time in most aspects.

dam Im angry, ripoff from Madoca?
Pvdb replied to Leif's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
It is quite clear these are not Lego branded parts, but many companies are now releasing people's MOCs. Some with permission but most without permission in my experience. Not so much a scam to the end buyer as it is fairly clear what you are buying. -
I have to say that I absolutely disagree with this statement. In my view it is a massive positive that you have managed to make such a nice looking car at this smaller scale, and it probably also means less weight so more fun since it is powered by PF. It is almost a completely different game building at the Chiron scale, and I don't think it is really fair for someone to say which scale you should or should not build in.

Help Needed Please
Pvdb replied to grum64's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I agree with the above. But you can be excused for not knowing as it is rare to see this part without the turntable bottom -unless you have one of those little kids who specialises in taking Lego apart, you know, the type of little kid who pulls the arms and legs of minifigs and leaves them scattered about their bedroom!!??? -

Scania Next Generation S730
Pvdb replied to mpj's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I have to say I completely agree with Jeroen's comments above. It is a great looking truck and the stickers work well and compliment the design (coming from someone who never puts stickers on). Good photography as well. -
[WIP] Koenigsegg Jesko
Pvdb replied to VKTechnic's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Good choice. I have been tempted to try to build the Jesko but at smaller scale. It is difficult to replicate that gearbox with the Lego gears available, and to make it operate at lightspeed using pneumatics. Interested to see your solution. -
I love it. It looks good from every angle in your pictures which in my opinion is hard to achieve. Interesting as well as built in a different scale to most other Supercar mocs that I have seen over the years. You may start a new trend.

Great work. The shape of this car is hard to replicate. I like the insides as well.
