  1. Very well done! If you're taking requests, I'd love to see a riot gear Glen.
  2. Couldn't have said that better myself.
  3. Hahah! That's great. I could actually see that working.
  4. Man, I like this MOC more than I liked the movie, lol. I particularly like the car and I think you really pulled off the exosuit. Nice work!
  5. I'd definitely be interested in a Vikings revival. I'd mostly be in it for the figs and hopefully some updated prints and molds. I'm really more interested in castle builds but Vikings would be more interesting than the current castle line. It could be a really cool mashup to have the Vikings raid medieval castle and civilian structures. I'd be all over that.
  6. You really nailed the steampunk look. From the figs to the builds, I can't imagine a better realization of that theme. I hope TLG is taking notes!
  7. If the poster is accurate to the actual Smaug we'll be getting (and I think it's pretty likely), then we have a good idea of scale based on the claw parts on the wings. Looks to be about the same size as the Castle dragon. Maybe the slightest bit bigger, but pretty much the same size. I would prefer larger, but this'll work for me.
  8. The shelves at my local TRU would agree with this statement.
  9. LOL, nice. I agree, this is very cool and it's nice to see GoT stuff in brick form.
  10. Thanks! Check out the latest that I just posted. I like the big curved slopes for these and the only parts like that for the color I wanted were under-side pieces. It led me to make some unusual decisions, but I'm really happy with the result.
  11. Adding to the Star Louge racer series… Again, based on a car. Probably very obvious, but try and guess anyway. With a history spanning almost 50 years, the German Arerrac 119 has changed very little. Immediately identifiable by it's unorthodox rear steering vanes, it has been continually refined over the last half-century into one of the best personal sport runabouts on the market. This example has been modified with larger intakes for in-atmosphere flight, an aftermarket thrust extender and pulse cannons to help it navigate the Aurora Asteroid Belt 5000. Pictured here racing an Adzam 5-XM.
  12. Nothing at all? Wow, I gotta say I'm a little disappointed. Thought I might be onto something here. Oh well, I'm having fun and it hasn't stopped me from making another. I'll post that one up for dismissal in a few, lol. Just in case it wasn't immediately apparent, this one is inspired by a real car: The Mazda MX-5 (Miata in the States).
  13. I can't recall seeing classic castle figs with fleshie parts. I must say, looks pretty darn good. Nice work!
  14. Yeah, I know. But with Helms Deep in wave 1, there's no reason not to have Gondor in wave 2. I realize there are no solid answers here, I'm just not willing to let TLG off the hook with a licensing excuse.
  15. This all makes sense except for the fact that LOTR hasn't had an action figure license for about a decade. There's no chance of licensing conflicts. That said, let's take what you've said as fact (it most likely is): then how has TLG so flagrantly dropped the ball on the $30 5 fig Army Builders like Uruk-Hai Army? There's exactly one in the whole of the LOTR line, and the oft-mentioned elephant in the room (Gondor) goes ignored entirely? Sure, I'd rather have 4-5 figs for $15, but you'd get no complaints from me if there were a $30 Gondor set that's comparable to UHA. I don't think there is any defense to this side of the argument. Licensing details are likely part of the equation, but they don't explain away the complete oversight of A: a hugely-important faction in the story and B: a guaranteed money maker.
  16. Howdy spacers, I just started branching out from the Historic side of things and I have to thank y'all for the great inspiration. I don't know if this qualifies as a Vic Viper as I just learned about them. Either way, the last few pages of MOCs really got my wheels turning, so here's what came out of it: Introduced 25 years ago by Japanese shuttle maker Adzam, the 5-XM Star Louge is a small runabout built for the personal transportation market. Capable of both in-and-out of atmosphere flight, it's nimble size, sporty handling characteristics and affordable price made it an ideal platform for racing. This particular example has been modified with a more powerful ion-charged engine and is armed with pulse cannons that allow it to clear a path in the famous Aurora Asteroid Belt 5000 race. I had a lot of fun building this and, parts allowing, I think I'm going to try my hand at a couple more. Apologies in advance for poor cell phone photography. Special thanks to the Stig for modeling the ship for me. Let me know what you think!
  17. Very nice! Instantly recognizable as one of Big Daddies best kustom hot rods. You have warmed this Lego hot rodder's heart. Not to thread hijack, but here are some hot rods of mine. http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=73873&hl=sedan#entry1392245
  18. MM is a fine opportunity for the witch king and fell beast, not to mention new Orc prints.
  19. Nope. :)
  20. Fairly certain that the flags and triangular slopes are blue and the roof and crenellated wall sections are light blue, based on the blur of the shield and figs.
  21. This one is going to be a land slide victory: Minas Morgul
  22. That's one of the best Orc armies I've seen. They should look like a disorganized rabble and you've captured that perfectly.
  23. Anyone that's upset about anything that's left out needs to understand that this wasn't written by TLG. It wasn't animated by TLG. Trying to cram the movie full of everything that TLG has made would likely harm the integrity if the final product. I suppose, as an almost-exclusive castle builder/collector, I could get bent out of shape that the only representation of castle is the current lackluster design, but it's not realistic to expect that the film makers could cram 35 years worth of the theme that's most important to me into the movie. To that point and the original point of this thread, the universe of the movie is defined by the collection of "The Man Upstairs" and that's that. In my opinion, it has nothing to do with how themes and worlds are considered in the canon of Lego. Thankfully, that's for us, the fans to decide for ourselves.
  24. I did end up getting Laketown Chase and it is my favorite. Still dont have Dol Guldur yet, but LTC is pretty cool... I don't see it getting dethroned.
  25. Hah, I finally got to see it today myself (and it was, indeed, awesome!). Though my wife couldn't help looking over at me a half dozen times during the live action part toward the end, I think they drew a pretty hard line that we can all agree on: gluing bricks is evil. Short of that, I've got plenty of assembled 30+ year old sets that are off limits, but my daughter and I play with our stuff a lot, and most of it is fair game for modification. They can always be built back according to the instructions, but that play time is priceless.
