  1. I think the watcher would be a cool set, but I'm going to have to go with Rohan BP again. It would need some variety though. It can't just be the same soldier we got in the Uruk-Hai Army. This thread really needs to have a poll attached, btw.
  2. Man, this is a really tough one for me. I love building armies, so I think I have to go with a Rohan BP even though I think they are fairly well represented in the Uruk-Hai Army set. It would need at least a new torso print. I don't see Rohan as being so regimented that they all match. A Green Dragon set would be fantastic though.
  3. Beautiful castle! It's huge, delightfully asymmetrical, and the details are wonderful. I'm going to have to spend some time with these pics. So much to soak in.
  4. A truly great army builder set wouldn't have unique characters. Uruk-Hai Army was close, and I've done all I can to genericize Eomer, but in the back of my mind, I know his armor is unique, and I know I've got 6 of the same guy manning the walls of Helms Deep and I wish that wasn't the case.
  5. Nice! You really captured the spirit of the Companions' hall. Makes me wonder why there aren't more Elder Scrolls Mocs. I'd love to see the Skyforge, parts of Solitude, maybe the Arch Mages quarters.
  6. Man, that is crazy-impressive. A whole other level.
  7. Beautiful work! So many wonderful details and the scale is grand. Love the arches and architecture, the heraldry in display, all of it. Thanks for sharing!
  8. A Top Gear license sounds too good to be true. I would just open my wallet and start throwing money at Lego. Man I hope this is more than just a rumor.
  9. Thanks! That's a cool set up.
  10. Glad to see this thread come back to life. Now get to posting pics!
  11. I wish they would just let us off the hook one way or the other. Either tell us LOTR is done so we can be supremely disappointed for a while and get over it, or tell us there will be another wave so we can stop worrying about it.
  12. Great work as usual! Love the classic mash up. Makes me wonder what else is a good candidate for trollicizing. Maybe Troll blacksmith or Troll Mountain Fortress
  13. I haven't acquired anything in months. It'll be nice to have the Hobbit sets out soon.
  14. That's funny, I was 15 when it came out and it was an instant favorite. Loved the unusual design and asymmetry of it. I still love that one. I have all of my classic castles on display and still find myself looking at and enjoying the mountain fortress as much or more than the rest. Fright knights created my dark ages. Well, that and girls. ;) That is a very real possibility. Still, I don't think they'd lose the kids if they had kingdoms-quality factions. Oh well. Give it time. In a few years I'm sure TLG will have something wonderful to replace it with. I know I've been making the case for baseplates, but that's only to hi light my feeling that they aren't all bad. The modular approach is great. It's wonderful to set up the original kings castle and plug in the blacksmith, armory and other sets that just fit right in.
  15. Two of the best (subjective, I know) classic castles are on raised baseplates. (King's Mountain fortress and black knights castle) There's room for raised baseplates if it's done right. I will say that based on previous examples, it works better for smaller castles. I wonder how long this theme will run. I can't imagine that it's as successful as Kingdoms.
  16. It all sounds too good to be true, but for some reason, my BS alarm is not going off. Could be wishful thinking, but I feel like this is legit. So, brick built fell beast or molded?
  17. Sounds good, keep describing. :)
  18. That list does sound good. It would leave us 1 Balrog away from a pretty complete LotR collection. It would certainly address the maddening lack of Gondor presence up to this point. Edit: are these prices in USD? That would make for a fairly good size Minas Tirith.
  19. I'm pleased with these sets. Lots of orcs and elves and cool castle structures. Dol Goldur has some great detail. For instance, I LOVE the statue. Good work, TLG. Hopefully it won't be another year before we get to see Smaug.
  20. Nice review. This was the last set I got before entering my Lego dark ages for 15 years and the only royal knights set. It's a pretty solid set that I always felt went well with the black monarch castle.
  21. All of my favorite castle sets are generic, most of my least favorite sets are specific, so that's an easy one. An interesting build with good parts and well designed minifigs is all that's needed for a great set.
  22. I'm very excited for this theme. My 7 year old loves playing with Lego in all it's forms but she especially likes the Friends stuff. She's going to freak out on this if these rumors are true and we'll have some fun. Might be some cool parts too.
  23. I recently picked up my second Helms Deep for parts ($85!) and yeah, there is no comparison. Especially if you consider selling off the extra figs that are quite expensive on the secondary market.
  24. Great concept, great execution. I particularly like the gate detail in front of the waterfall.
  25. Council of Elrond. Overall, I'm somewhat disappointed in this wave. In other words: "no Gondor, no care".
