  1. Oh man, I am jealous of that group of elves. Great minifig for sure. I was lucky to get the one that I have since I came out of my dark ages at series 5.
  2. I see your point. I guess I was getting ahead of myself. It does hi light the madness of 2 years of LOTR and no Gondor representation except for Boromir though. No real army builder opportunities for this year besides perhaps the dead men of Dunharrow, and that seems highly unlikely. Nobody needs another Frodo/Gandalf poly.
  3. I hope that's not the case. The Mirkwood Elf was a great polybag set and a Gondor soldier poly would sell like C-R-A-Z-Y. TLG is leaving truckloads of $$ behind if they don't take advantage of that one.
  4. My focus is quite narrow, so excuse the specificity, but there are a few historic/fantasy CMFs I'd love to see. Sorceress Female Elf Medieval Bandit/Thief Squire (kid with sword and shield, preferably with a new faction) Nobleman/lady Young princess (I don't think we've ever seen a princess that is shorter than a king) King Richard the Lionheart King Henry VIII (with big belly like Bombur) Good/Heroic Dwarf Executioner (this one is probably unlikely) This is surely not a series 12 list, but I'd be happy if at least 1 of these appeared in each forthcoming series. I do think TLG has done a great job of mixing it up and including creative options like the Highlander, Warrior Woman and Barbarian.
  5. Agreed. I'm very lucky to have scored several of these, and they are very nice. I really like that they came with good parts like the green trans goblet, barrel, mushroom and gem. Elf ears/hair piece would have been nice, but I suppose it makes for a better army if they don't have the same hair.
  6. Though I am most certainly an army builder with several factions of castle figs that are at least 20+ each and lots of LOTR Uruk-Hai, the most of one CMF I've bought is 4 Heroic Knights. I probably would have gotten more if they had been a unique faction, but as it is, they're serving as statues/suits of empty armor for the Crownies. (they're just so monochromatic, they make good statues) That said, I love the CMFs and hope they continue them for a long, long time. They are a wealth of fresh ideas, prints and parts. Plus, it's really fun to have something to look forward to a few times a year.
  7. Cool! Very nice work.
  8. I'm going to buy it. Not sure why I haven't pulled the trigger yet. You have to love the level of detail and the unique minifigs are really nice.
  9. Pretty sure someone showed pics of them combined in the review thread. When you say that it's about to go out of production, have you heard something official, or are you supposing that just because its been out for over a year?
  10. This is great! A million little details that I need to spend time with, but I will hi light the wooden arches on the keep. Very cool idea. Is there an interior to any of the structures?
  11. I won't fatigue. With a focus as narrow as historic, I usually end up with 1-3 must-haves and a couple nice-to-haves for parts or just because they're cool. Keep 'em coming!
  12. Cool, I'm digging Laketown. It's already the second best Hobbit set behind Bag End.
  13. This is great. Lot's of variety in the structure, and the interior details finish it off nicely. I've been working on a similar type of build, and have made some similar decisions. Totally different style though.
  14. This is one of the finest builds I've ever seen. Not only the layout, or the details ... it's just beautiful. This is an all time favorite for me.
  15. Hah, this reads like a Monty Python sketch. Well done. May I offer some constructive criticism? It would be great to see the results of Billy's folly. The writing is superb. Keep that up. I can't wait to see if we continue to watch Billy meet his end or if other hapless adventurers get added to the pile. What's next? Don't make breakfast out of a dragon's eggs or never use a wizards wand to pick your teeth?
  16. This is rad! Great idea and super-fun execution. I want to build one.
  17. Great Idea and execution! Simple mods to make an interesting king too. Nice work.
  18. That Lenfald army is great. Such a wonderful mix of parts. Makes me want to create my own custom army. I think you've started something very fun and expensive for me. That evil LotR army is impressive too.
  19. Very cool plan. Can't wait to see how it develops.
  20. Not sure how I missed this one in January, but really nice work here. Thanks for posting this. It gives me many expensive ideas.
  21. Great series for sure. Lots of nice details, but I have to single out the skydiver's flapping lips as the part that brought a big smile to my face.
  22. Picked up Black Falcons Fortress this weekend! This is a set I've wanted since I was 9 years old when it first came out. It's a very unusual build, but the final product is an undeniable classic. So nice to have it next to the other classic castles, and my small band of Falcons grew to a total of 17 and they finally have a home. Great feeling.
  23. Panels are an integral part of big castle building as far as official sets go. Whatever issues I might have with this new theme don't have anything to do with panel count.
  24. Thanks for correcting my spelling on that one. And yes, it symbolizes a lot of things, none of which I want on my knight's shields, lol.
  25. That occurred to me as well. That helps. Unfortunately, the dragons don't appear to have fared so well. They all seem to have the "spiky phallus" emblem on their torso prints. Edit: spelling
