News LEGO CREATOR 2014 News & Discussion
SirBlake replied to just2good's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Don't know how I'm just getting to this, but the red car is a bit disappointing. I'm sure I'll still get it, but I'll have to mod the heck out of it. Which, if I'm honest, is half the fun. Have we seen the yellow racecar yet? -
Simply one of my favorite castles ever. Amazing work!

Kendrick Visits a Farm (built by my little bro)
SirBlake replied to soccerkid6's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Another good one. I dig the tan rocks. Most people (including myself) use grey. I also like the pig sty with dark brown mud and upside down treasure chest lid for the trough. The only thing I would like to see different would be the bright yellow roof. It's just a little too intense for my taste. -
Picked up the Castle gatehouse raid on clearance. I still don't love this theme, but it's not a bad set and the price is right.

Lego Hobbit Video Game Exclusive Minifigure Announced
SirBlake replied to mrfootball's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I think it's really cool. It's not going to get me to buy the game, but I think it's a fun option. -
Very cool, I love the concept. My only criticism would be that it should be less symmetrical. If it's made of trees, it doesn't make sense that the different towers would be so similar. The forestmen's river fortress is a decent example of this. Well, the branches at the top, anyways.

I always thought Cirith Ungol was made to be a Lego castle.

Future Castle sets - put your hopes and ideas here
SirBlake replied to Alfadas's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Well, in my case, any conflict that is played out is inter-personal. Lizzie ( Elizabeth Swan from POTC) gives her mom (blue dress/apron woman from MVR) attitude and they have to work it out. Lol, little girls, man. -
Future Castle sets - put your hopes and ideas here
SirBlake replied to Alfadas's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
That would be so rad. My daughter (8 years old) and I play with MMV and MVR (The Orchard family, lol) more than her friends stuff. We would love to add to the village with sets like that. -
Middle-Earth Madness - Mordor Battle Pack vs Amon-Hen [Week 7]
SirBlake replied to Blakstone's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Amon Hen is great, but the last thing I need is more fellowship and Uruk-Hai. Mordor BP for me. -
Love it! Big enough to get the idea across without being ludicrously huge. The Fell Beast is great too!

LEGO Minifigures series 12 will not be available until Oct 2014
SirBlake replied to JeagerEX's topic in Special LEGO Themes
That's the sweetest thing I've heard in a while. Castle/Historic fans have gotten a decent selection of CMFs, but nowhere near what City has gotten. What historic figs we have gotten often qualify as limited specialization (Roman, Shakespeare, gladiator, etc) It would be wonderful to get more medieval/fantasy stuff. -
The ONE Thing You Want to See from LotR Before it Ends
SirBlake replied to Deathleech's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Single most wanted piece would be a Gondor soldier. Beyond that, I would love Gondor soldiers to come with Minas Tirith, though I would settle for a Minas Tirith gate set, especially because it would mean that a larger volume of Gondor soldiers were accessible.- 64 replies

Great build. Details are great and I love how vertical it is.

I picked up Laketown today and really like it. Nice build, good colors and parts. I'm looking forward to expanding it with the set from wave 3.

This TLG apologist thing is wearing thin. We get it, you like to complain about complainers. And now I'm complaining about the complainer who is complaining about complainers. It's complain-ception! Happy now? :-P The bottom line is that this is a community of consumers not shareholders. As such, concern about TLG's profit margins is not a prerequisite. It is our collective prerogative to criticize as we see fit. Kill a line because it underperformed? Understandable. Load the line with screwball set choices that guarantee poor sales and neglect obvious choices that would certainly sell better? Unforgivable.

It would need to be a new mold. The Orc shield is boxy and flat, the roman is curved, which is nice, but ruined by the stud and too squared off. Don't get me wrong, I'd take either over nothing, but to do it right it'd have to be new.

Middle-Earth Madness - Lothlórien vs Prancing Pony [Week 5]
SirBlake replied to Blakstone's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I've been putting off my response on this one. I want both for such different reasons. On one hand I really want good medieval buildings, on the other, how do you turn down the realm of the elf witch? Lothlorien by a nose. -
Well, it's certainly refreshing to get some kind of news and details. Thanks ianmrid! I'd love some Erebor and more Laketown sounds good too. Crossing my fingers for good army building.

Wait, where did this quote come from? Edit: never mind. I found it in the Hobbit thread.
-
Very cool! Lots of nice detail here but we need more pics and commentary on how you built it.
-
Beautiful. Definitely one of my favorite renditions of Lothlorien.

I see where you're going here, but this completely ignores a major facet of the Lego buying public. I would put money on the supposition that most larger sets are purchased by parents/grand parents for birthdays and holidays.
