That would do everything I really need out of LOTR. I'd also like to throw a lot of money at a large Minas Tirith set, but what you just described would prevent a lot of sadness. I'd buy 3 or 4 of those instead of the 0 pirate ships I bought.

Middle-Earth Madness - Rohan Battle Pack vs Mount Doom [Week 3]
SirBlake replied to Blakstone's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Rohan BP, though we could probably skip to the end of this section if of sets if a Gondor BP is on the list. That would win over just about anything. -
I still can't believe that LOTR could be over. A fools hope indeed. I will continue to expect a third wave until we have definitive proof that LOTR is dead.

Any more detail you can give us? Names or descriptions?

Which is Your Favorite Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug Set?
SirBlake replied to Deathleech's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Heck, I would settle for good photos of the assembled set from the angles that the official pics don't show.- 54 replies

Which is Your Favorite Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug Set?
SirBlake replied to Deathleech's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I have MEA and like it, but have a feeling that Laketown Chase or Dol Guldur Battle will end up being my favorites. That said, do we have a Laketown Chase review? I've searched and looked several pages back and haven't found one.- 54 replies

I think Smaug could be pretty big if handled like a structure. Less something to be swooshed, more big stable build with giant jaws and claws.

Even with the grain of salt considered, that's great news. Thanks!

The problem is that Eomer has unique armor among the Rohan army, it's quite distinctly different. It works at a distance, but if you like the details (and who among us doesn't?), it's far from ideal.

Very nice throne room. Many cool details and the lighting is good too.

I'm not exactly the target audience for your question, but you may find my answer interesting all the same: I love the Middle Earth books/films/sets, but it exists as an entirely separate entity for me. I literally have 30 years worth of Lego castle on one side of the room (not every set, but all of my favorites from 1984-present), and most of the Hobbit/LOTR sets on the other side of the room. Middle Earth makes for great Lego IMO, but it doesn't truly replace castle. I have bought multiples of some LOTR sets for castle MOC parts. This licensed theme also helps fill the void left by the dearly departed Kingdoms line. I haven't found anything to like about the current Castle line.

Based on that micro build, I think it's safe to assume that if we do get a Minas Tirith set, it was not designed by the time the video game was released.

I agree with the above. The gold aspect isn't really a defining feature. Crown Lions is a good one because it is such a thorough mix of the Fantasy Era's "Crownie" symbol with the lion. There's really very little about the dragons to work with.

Cool! You really captured the feel of the scene and it's a great way to display the fellowship.

Very nice work with the lighting and movement. Nice concept too. I'd love to see it in regular light to see some of the details.

Someone did on the previous page. Store exclusive maybe?

Looks like we may have the beginnings of that list in the Hobbit/LotR 2013 thread: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=75636&st=7225#entry1777668

Very well said! I completely agree.

Is anyone stateside finding any LOTR/Hobbit sets on clearance after Christmas? I'm checking the usual sources (Target/Wally/Marshall's/TJ Max) and I'm not having any luck.
-
Same here. I'm pleasantly surprised with both.

I refuse to believe that we won't get a third wave. Maybe I'm being naive, but I just can't see Lego stopping short and ignoring so much of the trilogy (Gondor). I understand bailing on an underperforming property (assuming it is underperforming, nobody really knows), but failure to deliver a third wave would be a black mark on TLGs record, IMO.
