[MOC][WIP] Untitled Car
Thirdwigg replied to Isamudyson's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I'm liking those side sills. The rear is a little choppy, particularly the diffuser, but I'm excited to see where this goes. -

I agree, this will be pretty cool when it's done. The scale is great, and the functionality seems to be heading in the right direction. Looking forward to more. -

All three cabs are done for the 437. The power pack is done, and two of the four rear beds are done. Then I just need to finish the video and the photo all of the setups. Here is a closeup of the tipper mechanism for the bed that matches the Doka cab. -

@Tommy StyrvokyI'm intrigued. I have tried this kind of wheel connection with the CV joints, and I think it can work. You won't get much vertical travel, but you may get enough for this scale. I'll try it tonight in real bricks to see if I can get you some feedback. I'm not clear of the benefits of using the turntables to transmit drive torque, as it seems to cause some trouble with the steering link and it's bulky. Why do you want them? Could you do something like this or this? Using the 5L suspension arms might also give you a little more room. -

I finished the Unimog 437 chassis last night. Before the rest of if is finished, I figured I would give a little update on this project. The long wheelbase chassis has front and rear live axles, four wheel drive, steering, and a I4 engine. It is set up with manual control, but allows for PF upgrades. Exhaust on the left, and a fuel tank on the right. I have completed three cabs, which will attach to the front at four points. Also, multiple rear attachments are at various points of completion. I will have available a short and long three way tipper bed, a military canvas bed, Power Functions drive pack, knuckleboom crane, and a salt spreader. A camper too, if I can stay motivated. Stay tuned... Also, @Didumos69, the transmission on the Car above works great. That should be finished soon as well. At least soon on my timeframe. -
Absolutely stunning. Very well done, and good to see you back again with another MOC. I love the simple Bionical tooth for the level. I love all the tractors I see in LEGO, but I see more opportunity for well designed implements. Thanks for giving another option for 42054.

Good choice on the DBG. It looks good with the white and green. Those outrigger feet are great.

Good to see this project continuing. I love me a good Unimog project, and I am happy to see you constantly improving your design. I started my own (437), and I might have to add a U500 cab as one of the options. Re. 9l Orange beams, I started getting them from LEGO pick-a-brick, as I was not willing to put up with the Bricklink prices. I might be worth your while to get a couple.

Great job. Are you able show a little more about how you installed the drive to the front axle and the re-positioning of the steering mechanics. 42077 reminds me a lot of 8081 in its ability to take a number of internal mechanical modifications. As I prepare to make my own MOD of 42077, I am interested to know a little more about how you solved some of the space issues for the front.

I agree with this. Building with Jr. Thirdwiggs has been a jolt to my love of Lego. They are also forcing me to build stronger MOCs...which can't be a bad thing. -
[MOC] Claas Atos
Thirdwigg replied to Thirdwigg's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I didn’t think the wheels would be such a point of conversation. I tried the dark red, but they looked a little too heavy. I’ll post a photo when I am back home. I consider myself an avid brick link browser, but the white wheels are new to me. I didn’t even think about that as an option. I may need to try that. @I_Igor I made the choice for the larger front wheels and tires consciously. The 56s looked too small, as it seems to convey a larger series tractor. It also took away the ability for front PTO and drawbar as it would lower the wheel center by a stud. -
[MOC] Claas Atos

I'm getting a little behind on posting some of the projects I have finished. Either way, here is a mid sized manual tractor, based (can't we get some red medium sized wheels) of the Claas Atos. A full gallery may be found on Flickr, and much more at thirdwigg.com. Features: Rear wheel drive Steering 3 cylinder engine Front PTO Front Drawbar Rear PTO with on/off Rear Drawbar a couple of implements, more coming (probably) -

Great Job. This is my kind of build. I love the rear fenders, and the addition of the small tool box on the right. I'm working on something with drop sides as well, and I might take some of your ideas. Is there space to add a rear differential? Maybe a 1 or 2 cylinder engine? -
Glad you like it. It's still sitting on my desk as work, since I can't bring myself to take it apart.

@tomek9210 The gearbox in the Veyron is the same one used in my ATS. Send me a PM, and I can help you on the design, or you can check this picture out.

I love the slurry tank, and would like to see more of the of the implement on the first tractor. Also, I know the front exhaust pipe was not accurate for the 42054 model year, but it looks so cool and it was a missed opportunity for TLG. I'm glad you added it. This set screams for added trailers and implements. Great job.

Thirdwigg's MOCs
Thirdwigg replied to Thirdwigg's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
@Didumos69 Right, the ratios or only for the gearbox, the other gears for the rest of the driveline work well currently, so I won't change those. I'll need to make some changes to the frame to accommodate the gear changes, but that should not be too much of a problem. Again, thanks for your help. -

Thirdwigg replied to Thirdwigg's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
@Didumos69 Thanks. This is the kind of help I needed. To your assumptions: Yes, you are looking at the left of the gearbox. The close side is 1st and 2nd gear. The 16 tooth gear in the back is for the steering, so it can be disregarded for this conversation. Your render confirms my fears, basically, my current installation (photo) is backwards. I'll switch the gears to be like they are shown in the render, and have the output be the 20t gear, as it will link to a 16t on the crankshaft. If I understand correctly, this will give me the following: 1:3 5:9 1:1 5:3 Thanks for your help. -

Great build again. I love the front seats. And the folding rear seats made me smile. I love these kind of details. Also the black looks great, and those headlights are prefect. -

OK, I have been looking at this for far too long. After too many transmission designs, I'm not sure this does what I want it too. See below: Are the ratios in this 4 speed transmission in the correct order? Input to engine to engine is the black 20t gear on the left. Output to rear axle is the DBG 8t gear on the right. Is everything right? What do I need to change?
