Excellent ship, the colors you choose are great and I really like the subtle forward angle!

Thank you! Thanks Brickwolf! Oh yeah. Banana trees, palm trees... they look the same, so who cares? Thanks! Thank you!

Thanks Gideon!

Very nice job! The pig rolling over is great! That wall looks really good as well, and neat interior!

Fantastic little ship, looks really smooth and sleek - those sails and the prefab hulls both look great here! The dark red is also a really good color to use to set it off!

Settlement: Weelond, An Holli, Eslandola

A large licensed cotton plantation in Weelond.- 80 replies
-
Not too terribly long ago, this conversation took place around Guy K. Wynd's breakfast table. "Well, Uncle, now that we've got that mayor stuff settled - I was thinking we might wanna invest in a cotton plantation? You know, we got the monopoly and all." "Yep. Actually I got a plantation." "Wait... you bought a plantation?! When?!" "When I was down there hanging people, of course!" "Were you going to tell me?!" "I just did." "Yeah! - Well, what size is it, more or less?" "It's a large." "Whew! Just like that! Bam! You bought a large plantation! And didn't even say boo!" "Mmm-hmm. Your bacon is good." "Fresh from Bardo." "If it's from Bardo, it ain't fresh." "Whatever. You doing anything today?" "Yep." "I meant, what are you doing today?" "I'm going to Weelond." "What?!?!" "Yeah. The plantation has a nice house nearby. My wife and I are gonna move in." "You're kidding me!" "Nope." "Wait... you're just going to leave me high and dry here?!" "Unless you wanna come, too." "When are you leaving?" "This afternoon." "This afternoon?!?! Were you going to tell me?" "Guy, I just did." "Whatever." Shortly thereafter, Guy's Uncle arrived at his new plantation in Weelond. Home, sweet home! (For some reason the road looks really big in this picture. Probably because of the really small carriage; I had been planning on building a bigger one, but only had two black wheels available!) As per custom, the neighbors popped on over to give the new family a warm welcome. Horses are important assets in the new world, especially for Eslandians. So they need to be well taken care of! Guy's Uncle has a full half dozen hands working on his plantation... that is, twelve hands, six people. Looks like one of 'em isn't doing too much work right about now, though! Picking season has just barely begun in Weelond. A few of the workers are getting a head start, but picking doesn't officially commence until tomorrow. At 66x50, this is one of my largest builds to date - but it was also a lot of fun to build. I tried out some new stuff with the red roof, the shutters, and the cotton, and threw in some old techniques with the pillars and that sort of thing. This is my fourth free-build in February. Constructive criticism is always welcome!

Thanks everyone for all the comments! I really appreciate it! Golden would be perfect - unfortunately I don't have those wings (yet at least) - nor grey either. Thanks! Thank you! Thanks Gunman! Thanks Gideon! I was presently surprised with how many figures I managed to construct that fit the time period - it would have been nice to have a few more togas but on the whole it was easier to populate the streets than I had anticipated!

The fun will be in... winning.

And that's what I get for making a typo. I meant 5 part spaceship. Anyway, I haven't spotted any times when I thought, how come that person didn't get the bonus (though of course, I don't follow who gets how many points or that sort of thing). It was just that some of what was expressed here didn't make sense to me. You guys are doing a great job keeping up with a tremendous job, so keep it up! I certainly didn't mean to discourage you.

Merchant's Colonial Trading Company - General Discussion
Kai NRG replied to Kai NRG's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
MCTC members gather round for our first venture! Come March 616, we will (try) to license our very first MCTC sponsored trading vessel, the Heart of Eslandia! (Thanks to Capt Wolf for his generosity in building the ship!) Shares are 25 DB each. Each share brings in 5% of the profit. (The extra goes to MCTC in return for insurance; see below.) There are sixteen shares. MCTC will buy at least five shares; as much as possible, it will pay for these out of its own coffers, but it will also need loans from some of its members. These loans will, of course, be repaid (est. within 5 months; no promises!). Let us know if you are willing to advance 15 DB. MCTC members can buy as many shares as they please; first come first serve. Application begins Mar. 1. @Capt Wolf has the right to buy out other member's shares whenever he so desires for their initial price of 25 DB. MCTC will provide insurance. 20 DBs per share if sunk by weather, 15 DBs if sunk by an enemy, 10 DBs if captured. Insurance involves paperwork. MCTC has a 4 month window in which to pay up (in case we need some time to get the DBs together!). Feel free to ask any questions below. When applying, please provide proof that you will have the DBs necessary for a share(s) by the end of March. -

On the one hand it sort of makes sense, but then if you think about it - technically it takes me exactly the same amount of effort to make a 5 point spaceship for a micro landing pad as it would take me to make a 5 point spaceship for a huge, high quality minifigure dio. If the effort is the same, I'm not sure why the person who does the larger display should not get the point? (It's not even like it benefits the player, it just benefits the team.) It just seems funny that in one scenario a spaceship would count where in another scenario the exact same spaceship wouldn't count. I mean, this is a tag. It either is a spaceship, or it isn't. At least, that's the way I would look at it! (Now, if we're looking at something prefab, like a motorcycle, then I could see why the rest of the scene would factor in, because it's the scene that sets it off, or otherwise.) Of course, it is always very hard to estimate effort. I probably put way more effort into a simple vehicle than an experienced Sci-fi builder like Bob would, and mine doesn't even turn out half as good. But then, that's no reason why I should get more points!
-
Mine only managed to stay assembled for about three days. Now we're talking!
-
Great transition to winter, the band of minstrals arriving adds a lot to the scene! The snow added on top of the castle itself really completes the scene!

Another very nice build, the chandelier is great! That large window is really good as well, though I think I would have left out the lattice window (the styles clash a little). The yellow is great! -
Very nice boat - ahem. Ship. JK. The curve you have achieved is really sweet, and she looks really fast!

Kai NRG replied to Mike S's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Very nice build, the exterior looks fantastic with the clean lines and bright colors! The only thing I'm not sure about is the off-center roof... I guess it's supposed to give the impression that the building continues? but it just sort of sticks out (especially on the head on picture). Otherwise, a really pretty building! -
