Where did you find this set for $60? That sounds like a great deal! I plan to buy the 42029 Truck as it seems like a set that has a lot of the pieces that I like (Suspension, big wheels, and off road like). I also says it's customized which makes me assume you can customize it easily so that will be good! Thank you all for the input, I am on a budget as I just bought another older train set so we shall see when I can get it. If i can get it for $60 that would be an awesome buy Thanks again! -RailCo

I hear you I bought one train set and in about 4 years it spread to around now 14 train sets and counting so I have thought about that possibility! -RailCo

Thank you all for the input @nerdsforprez the set i have had did have pneumatics for opening doors and hatches (from 2003) but i am not sure if pneumatics have changed a lot since then. I am mostly into ground vehicles like cars, and trucks along with them being able to be motorized/drivable with PF. My favorite are jeeps or other off road trucks as i feel like those are some of the most mechanically interesting and fun to use if they were powered. Thanks for the input -RailCo

Hey guys! Some of you may have seen me from the Train Tech forum. I have always been into the technic theme but I never really have bought many sets and I am wondering what is a good start to get into the theme. The last sets I remember buying are the 8454 Rescue Truck set from 2003. I like the bigger sets but i don't know where to start as I haven't bought any sets from when LEGO started including suspension systems. Thanks -RailCo

I do think this Locomotive is a bit better designed than the 7939 because it doesn't have a huge hole in the top to see the wires and everything else inside also the top is more symmetrical. I do like it though for some odd reason, The train cars are kind of a unique variety I hope the hopper car comes with some sort of loading and unloading station.

Fully automated Lego train coal terminal
Rail Co replied to AlmightyArjen's topic in LEGO Train Tech
This looks like something to have at a Lego Convention layout! Outstanding work! Keep on Birck'in -RailCo P.S. Can I just borrow this maybe I would say only for about forever? That is okay right? -
I am sorry I should have included this to begin with. here is the image: part # 99251 Black Minifig, Ruff Bricklink Link:http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=99251 -RailCo

Hey guys, I have found a cool way to use the minifigure style head piece to go inside boilers. I just used that and an upside down 1x1 to give it some depth. Lego train Boiler by Railco1, on Flickr Lego train Boiler by Railco1, on Flickr I think it adds a small touch to the boiler and I hope you like it! -Rail Co [How you can use it for cars!]: http://www.eurobrick...howtopic=105602

Hey guys, I have found out you can use the minifgure style head piece inside of wheels to add some extra detail to some vehicles. Sorry in advance for slightly blurry images I wasn't using the best camera and I have unsteady hands. Style 1: IMG_20150207_124635620 by Railco1, on Flickr Style 2: IMG_20150207_125438985 by Railco1, on Flickr Hope you like these i think they are kind of cool, you do not need to include a 1x1 round plate but I did for a little color in the rim. -RailCo NOTE: You cannot do these with the new style wheels that clip in you can use them on the new ones that use an axle as shown. 4.5v motors depending on which one you have are incredibly strong the first ones you could use for anything and most big models came with a quick how to on converting it to have a motor. they could have gears in them also just normal wheels. I have the 7722 which works like a charm but i also have the Pat. Pending era motor that runs not so smoothly and with that one i built a quick engine only using that era's bricks so limited colors and shapes. My suggestion is seeing if you want to make it maybe either a shunter or just a heavy hauler type train as it can really pull rakes upon rakes of carriages. Enjoy your Torque demon! -RailCo

This is great news that we will at least get a train of some sorts this year that will probably come out in late summer just like the 3677 Red Cargo Train. Knowing it is a "Heavy Haul Train" I assume it will be a diesel locomotive of sorts. I assume some sort of heavy cargo to go along with it maybe a hopper car and maybe a flat car or two with maybe cars or containers... I would like to see even though it is a "Heavy Haul Train" I hope that we get a shunter as it is possible for people to make as many people have done it before though unlikely I would love to see it. Great new! Thanks for sharing Cyrtanthus! Hope to see more soon -RailCo

Well I hope LEGO Does release one this year it is unlikely at this point. If they don't I will be disappointed but that's life. Hopefully they will do something spectacular for 2016 since it is the 50th anniversary for LEGO Trains. -RailCo

This would check out. I hope they do something big with trains in 2016! Plus there has been rumors of new PF motors so maybe something with trains is happening I just want another train this year too!

Okay I guess I'll jump into this conversation... PF Pros: Stronger Motors Simple SetUp Easy for all Ages High quality Lighting Can run up to 8 trains from one controller PF Cons: Bulky battery Box and Reciever Extremely hard to build shunters and other small locomotives. Have to change batteries (Sometimes have to tear some of your loco apart to do so) 9v Pros: Easy to use One transformer can be used for the whole layout Easy to build shunters and other small locomotives no batteries to charge or change. Easy setup 9v Cons: Poor light quality (Only is bright on 4+ speeds) Brittle wires Track gets dirty 1-2 train can run at once on one transformer without crashing Honestly they kind of level out. I wish 9v wasn't gone I prefer it just because of that sound the motor makes and also no batteries.

Kickstarter: ME Models Tracks for both metal and ABS only track pieces
Rail Co replied to JopieK's topic in LEGO Train Tech
I wish I was able to get on the Backer train (pun intended). I hope the metal track will be available to non-backers soon! Great Work ME-Models can't wait to get a better 9v layout going! -RailCo -
Spectacular job I do love the way you were able to get some detail on the undercarriage! I can not wait to see more from you! -Railco

Hmmm. it is really starting to look grim for a new Expert train set I guess we will find out Jan. 1st when the usually do press releases...

Great news! Just remember it could be other exclusives but usually the exclusive trains do come out in March thats sounding good! Thanks! Also look for any info you can about the set (Pictures or set numbers etc.) -RailCo

The only thing I could find for "MDP" stood for "Metropolitan Development Plan". Which made me wonder what that could mean? I thought since it's "Metro" and it seems to be under the "MDP" I assume it has to be some sort of transportation. So I have 3 theories: #1 We could have just another small tram like in the 8404 City set (Wouldn't be too exciting). #2 We could get a more narrow gauge system (With speculation of new motor system it may be easy to do so I do not know). #3 Either an elevated track system or maybe even a new monorail system (Highly unlikely) We shall hopefully soon find out with more information later. Happy speculating! -Rail Co P.S. There was also talk of a set called "LEGO City 60097 Special Edition" which reminds me of the 3677 which was an unexpected "Special Edition" train set so thier may be another thing to look for there... Hmmm interesting stuff coming

I am hoping we get a picture or a press release soon of the new Expert Train. Is anyone else just getting kind of excited for it? I really hope we get a small type steam loco like the 80's trains only in much more detail and have detailed cars and such... Come on LEGO give us a press release! -RailCo
-
Not to be disrecpect but I cannot believe you without a source I think you can understand my motto is "no proof no truth" But we shall see if we get new motors and if we do that would be amazing! -RailCo P.S. Should we place an order for spares if a new system is coming?

LEGO does not sell the straight track separately anymore. They do however sell them with flex track though: http://shop.lego.com/en-US/Flexible-and-Straight-Tracks-7499 Bricklink also has straight track that is sold by each piece: http://www.bricklink.com/search.asp?colorID=85&itemID=64722 Hope that helps! -RailCo

I have thought about doing this for sometime but since the 12v signals are so expensive I abandoned the idea. I plan on making signals when I have space for a good sized layout that use non-lego electronics. Great set up! Keep us updated on the layout -RailCo
