  1. Thank you so much! I'll try that whenever I have time to get oil. Cheers, -RailCo
  2. Here are some pictures sorry I did not get these sooner! Top: 4.5v Sealed by Railco1, on Flickr Side: 4.5v Sealed by Railco1, on Flickr The top used to have a spongy material but it has since fallen apart. Also the motor uses the old notched wheels that look like this: Thanks guys! -RailCo
  3. Hello All! Some may have seen me on the Train Tech Forum. I also enjoy town and city sets! This is a Review over the LEGO 6600 Highway Construction set from the year 2000. This is my first review so constructive (no pun intended) criticism is welcome! Enjoy! Name: Highway Construction Set Number: 6600 Pieces: 317 Retail Price: $80 Minifigs: 5 Theme: Town/City Released: 2000 LEGO 6600! Highway Construction by Railco1, on Flickr This will be the first appearance of Matt, my Lego minifig who will help me in my reviews and MOCs. He has the "Grand Plan" or blueprints for the Highway to be built. This tile only was available in this set and it is a printed element! LEGO 6600! Highway Construction by Railco1, on Flickr The set comes with 4 signs, the Turn sign (is there a term for these?), the 30 mph (or kph) speed limit sign, the construction zone sign. and lastly the "Do Not Enter" sign. all printed elements and they all add playability to the set! LEGO 6600 Highway Construction by Railco1, on Flickr The set comes with 5 main instruction sheets, each with the different vehicles along with one for the support structures. LEGO 6600! Highway Construction by Railco1, on Flickr These pieces are what I like to call The Claw and The Dumper. The claw is pretty simple it is spring loaded to be pressed shut, to open it you just pinch the levers on the sides. The purpose for it is to pick up the little Dark Grey 1x1 round bricks. The Dumper stores those bricks and when you are ready you "dump" the into the Tipper Truck. They both hook onto the crane. LEGO 6600! Highway Construction by Railco1, on Flickr The Tipper truck, this holds all the loose materials and debris. These can be hauled to wherever you please! LEGO 6600! Highway Construction by Railco1, on Flickr The what I like to call "The Dozer with multiple uses" is a scooped front with a sort of flat bed back and also a giant toe hitch in the back. It picks up debris, it can also toe the crane to where it need to be moved! LEGO 6600! Highway Construction by Railco1, on Flickr The Police truck's purpose is to direct comuters if a lane is closed or as a police stop. It has many lights and signs just in case you cannot see giant 6x4 stude sign in front of you! Enjoy some more pictures! LEGO 6600! Highway Construction by Railco1, on Flickr LEGO 6600! Highway Construction by Railco1, on Flickr All in all it is a good set at about $80 Retail it was a good set for smaller kids than adults. I still love it as it is almost 15 years old! The set ratings are... Value: 7/10 For your money back it was good more for kids. Playability: 9/10 You can continue to like this set (mostly for the road plates). But you get a couple of good figures and some very good trucks. Design: 6/10 The designs are pretty bulky and very "studdy" if you will but it was ment for small kids and it was from 2000... Parts: 9/10 With this set you got a few rare parts including the roofs for the Trucks (4x4 with 45 degree slope), Road Plates, and many signs and printed parts (No Stickers!) Overall 7.75/10 You do get some good parts but the downside is the bulkiness of the vehicles. LEGO 6600! Highway Construction by Railco1, on Flickr Hope you enjoyed this review! Thanks for reading! Remember constructive criticism welcome! -Rail Co
  4. Hey Guys! I have an old 1966-1968 sealed (No screws) 4.5v motor. I am wondering if there is a way to actually open it without destroying the casing of the motor? Also is there a way to oil the motor as it is sealed? Is there a good way to clean it? It is very squeaky so I want to oil it so it doesn't kill the motor. Thanks! -RailCo
  5. I think you hit the detail spot on! I love how you recreated the front. I am hoping that this train has some lights? Great Job!! -RailCo
  6. They should work fine unless you got a faulty pair of bands? Check if they are tight fitting, see if they move while you turn the wheel in your hand (if that makes sense). If you truly feel the bands aren't tight e-mail/ contact Lego themselves and see if you cant get replacements. They should work fine... I haven't personally experienced this so hopefully someone else can give you a better answer. Also make sure you don't make it go full throttle super quick or else the motor cant keep up so the wheels will slip. Hope that helps... -RailCo
  7. Wow Andy! Has come a major way since the last post! Love to see more 12v incorperated (Never have experienced the joys of the 12 volt era). Station looks fine to me, but remember everyone it is HIS layout so he can change it . Dieing to see more! -RailCo
  8. I believe that was originally what the "Train Tech"/"Train Tech Index" was for but I haven't seen it updated for awhile now! I think we should go and find all the posts with very helpful tutorials/ideas like this one to make a new sub-form "Train Maintence and How-To Guide" Sorry to go off topic! -RailCo
  9. Do we have to include carriages in our "set" or can it only be a locomotive?
  10. Is anyone else starting to get very worried that we haven't heard ANYTHING? not even a name, picture, or even mention that there will be a Expert Creator set... I am really starting to get worried now!
  11. Thankfully my motors are all in good working condition, but I will use this once they do decide to give out! Great and simple fix! Good creative thinking love the quick fix! -RailCo
  12. The curve looks awfully tight. I would assume an emerald night wouldn't be able to pass just because of it's lage wheel array. Anyway good job glad it works for you! -Rail Co
  13. Hey Guys so I recently got a hold of the 1985 classic, 7722 Cargo train. The tires are very worn out and I am in a huge need of new ones. These are the ones I have right now: Bottom is stretched. Right is in OK condition and the one on the left broke when I dropped it right before taking this. *Sigh* I need new tires by Railco1, on Flickr The one that broke actully broke right before taking that photo by accidentally dropping it... If someone knows where I can buy new (and I mean new) tires even if they are not by LEGO themselves it would be much appreciated. I looked at Bricklink but they seem to be all used. Thanks so much guys! -Rail Co
  14. Wow! Love the high detail with this carriage! I like how you were able to even re-create the undercarriage detail! Also the seats are an added plus! Can't wait to see more! -Rail Co
  15. When I saw this loco I fell in love! When I first looked at the second picture I thought "the model matches the picture... wait that is the model!" Great Job Sava! -RailCo
  16. Quick question! When will Me-Models metal track be avaliable (meaning not pre-ordering items)? Thanks for bringing 9v back! -Rail Co
  17. Hey all! So the other day my package arrived containing the 4563 Load N' Haul from 1991 and the 7722 Cargo Train from 1985!, this is beside the point. Today I was removing the traction tires on my 9v motor to clean them (junk like dust, dirt and hair was caught in them). But before doing so I relized that almost my whole motor was layered with oil! So i cleaned that off and put it back together. The problem is I am wanting to make sure that there is still enough oil to not have the motor be damged by not enough oil. When I run it it doesn't make loud squeaks or anything it sounds normal. Anyone have tips on oiling/knowing when to oil your motor! Thanks guys! -Rail Co
  18. The Model is AMAZING! But I have to say that the train looks silly on those standard curves. When you change directions do the lights change too? As usual you have exceeded expectations on Lego models! Love your work! -RailCo
  19. I am concerned, usually by now we have some picture (at least with a confidential tag on it). Hopefully it's either very well hidden, or something better like 9v trains(I know iit's not going to happen). Hopefully they will release something soon
  20. So on your pre-order site, I was looking through all the parts and seeing shipping costs. I had nothing in my cart but it placed an order with nothing in it and I had to pay nothing whatsoever, or put any info in. I am hoping this is alright? Thanks! Cannot wait to get my hands on these as I am collecting 9v slowly! Love what you guys are doing! -RailCo
  21. Hey Guys, I recently got a Metroliner in the mail, The box is in an extremely dented, and teared. The flap is the main thing I want to repair as it is completely torn off. I was wondering if anyone had any experience pressing/flattening box pieces and also repairing boxes. There are pictures on my flickr I am sorry I was crunched for time so I am using my phone! Thanks guys! -RailCo
  22. Looks good. Love the way you used to white axles for the side detail! Good Job. -RailCo
  23. Wow! I really like not only the engine but the freight. I am wondering if you have any instructions for the Open wagon? As I think they would go great with my Shunter Finished (unless an amazing idea comes to mind) by Railco1, on Flickr Great Job! -RailCo
  24. I really like the concept of modernizing loco, sets, and train cars! The design is really good! I love the way you made the luggage rack with the rubber bands to hold the luggage in. Can't wait to see the locomotive! Love to see more! -RailCo
  25. So it is out! It seems extremely expensive $300! @F0NIX would you say it is worth your money? Thanks -RailCo
