Lovely shipyard, Kai! A few more ribs would do the ship honour, but I don't really see how to achieve that on this scale (what you have is really impressive!) Nice slipway, and great looking crane too! I particularly like the use of the brown "flower piece" in the bottom to represent a turntable!

I was sure I had commented on this! I swear Eurobricks sometimes deletes my comments... I am a great fan of you revisiting this location - it seems like a perfectly Corlander thing to do to go back and ensure better infrastructure and access to Myzectlan. I really like how you have "diverted" the waterflow - it looks surprisingly natural. I would have suggested the use of light blueish grey or some other colour to show that those rocks are new additions in the stream, but it looks great. The winding path is great too, and I absolutely adore that crane! Great work!

[ETTC Cocoa Factory] Fermentation Stage
Bregir replied to Ayrlego's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
I am going out on a limp here and will say that this is by far Corrington's most impressive Royal Factory collab yet! Wonderful installment, Ayrlego - you really managed to expand wonderfully on the hopeless subject of rotting beans! Ever since we first agreed to this collab (a year ago?), I was wondering how you would pull it off - personally I am happy I had some gears and machinery to fill out the space! The building itself is a great mix of influences from mine and Silentwolf's builds, with its own distinctive style. I like the inclusion of the canal and the greenery makes it look wonderfully orderly, like a true Corlander settlement should be! The quayside is great, I really like the brickbuilt pillars inside and out, as well as the bands of bricks in the foundation and along the roof, and the awnings (with their wonderful little brickbuilt foundations for their pillars) add a nice contrast. The interior is fantastic too. I really like overall set up with the four separate pits, and I love how you have built in considerations like the spaced planks to allow for air and drainage, the ability to remove the boxes, and the canals for flooding. Overall, very nice job. If I were to offer a suggestion? Hmm, for one, build more for King's Harbour , and secondly, I wonder if there was some way to use space vertically? Currently, there is a lot of open air inside, but that may be by design, of course, to ensure ventilation. Perhaps several tiers or layers of boxes in a shelf-like arrangement could increase the capacity of the plant? Anyways, great work! -

[COR] A Fort for the Refugees
Bregir replied to Lord Buckethead's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
To Signore Lorenzini, Word have reached me that the fort in New Haven has been dedicated my memory, and I cannot begin to express the gratitude that filled my heart and mind. I am honoured and humbled that you and yours should show me such kindness, and hope that I may ever be in a position to live up to my obligations to your people. May New Haven prosper and peace be upon you. Your humble servant Don Isaac Montoya Consul _________ My lord, please find attached an official letter from Terra Novan high command. I wish you all the best for your expedition to the Mokolei Empire, and offer any assistance within my power, be it funding, scientific, diplomatic, or otherwise. Sincerely Don Isaac Montoya ATTACHED LETTER: To Lord Augustus Fernsby, Captain of the Royal Army, Corrington wishes to commend you for your outstanding execution of your order to establish fortifications for New Haven. By all accounts the fortress is well-constructed and the operation was carried out in record time, which has been noted in the colonial administration. Keep up the good work and you may well find yourself in line for a promotion. Further, should the Crown in any capacity be able to assist you in your planned expedition, petition my office and you will find us eager to listen. Settlers are leaving Malto under the care of their Corlander rescuers, and ferried to Alicentia, where a new home awaits. But providing accomodation for so many people in what was nothing but a barren shoreline is no easy task - where are they to live? To see to this need, a young Corlander architect has drawn up the New Haven Housing Projects, specifically designed to provide easily constructed, comfortable living for many people in a short time. Although not the most spacious of quarters, the housing projects emphasis comfort and individuality, giving each house its own style. Being the only quarters available in large numbers, the projects now house rich and poor side by side, adding to the communal atmosphere of New Haven. While time will undoubtedly see some people moving to more grandiose quarters, the projects will continue to provide comfortable and affordable living for the settlers of New Haven.

My old Sphinx is getting a big brother: I am quite happy with the colour scheme and general shape, but I am a bit stumped on how to continue with the bow, particularly the beakhead. Any suggestions? -
I am loving how this one ship is getting all this love! Looking like a very promising ship and a ditto story! :)

Thanks - and most of my sand green bricks are from the haunted house, a set incredible full of useful bricks! :) This was a a fairly simple build to progress the story, but I do try to maintain a certain quality. And while I love intricate builds with interesting techniques, I also appreciate the simple elegance of the Lego Brick. :) Sewerage, you say? The stilts? Yes, that was not a lucky coincidence but the result of careful research... Montoya has kept his side of the bargain and showed up - how will Morgan react? (And how do we run eventual talks? Write them in a pm together, like I did with Elos, or simply ping pong back and forth in public, like the Malto peace talks? Thanks, Captain! Happy someone noticed the chandelier - one wonders where they have stolen it! :) And yes, sand green is great! I only wish I had more diverse bricks in the colour, as I think it would be great for ships. :) Thanks, Bodi - happy you like it. Brave or stupid? ;) Montoya is a man of his word and never was a coward! ;) I did consider the risk of kidnapping. And as long as you don't kill off Montoya, I am willing to take the consequences of his actions. I am certain that no matter what Captain Morgan (or someone else) comes up with, we will probably have fun, which is really what this should be all about. I've had more fun with the Malto incident and the following story than with licensing builds in the EGS... :P And while Montoya only has his life/freedom to lose, I believe you Sea Rats have a lot more at stake - whether you are to be trusted, follow diplomatic convention, etc. Also, I doubt Corrington will be happy to see its diplomats ill-treated... ;) (Of course, we will not judge a whole faction for the acts of a single criminal, but Morgan did guarantee Montoya's safety... ;) I am inclined to agree - But Montoya will be right pissed! :P

After Captain Benjamin Morgan barged in on the Malto peace talks in a rather bold move, introducing himself as representative of the socalled Sea Rats, Montoya had agreed to meet. Having seen to the evacuation of the citizens of Malto, he had taken ship to Tortuga, and was now disembarking at a small pier. As promised, and as usual, he travelled with no guards, only accompanied by his assistant, young mr. Baker. Some had expressed some concern that he should go unescorted to meet a character as... renowned as Captain Benjamin Morgan. The pier belonged to a small guesthouse. Montoya figured he could get a room for the night, and ask around for the Captain himself. And then there was nothing left to do but wait and see if Captain Benjamin Morgan would show up... A small build for Tortuga. I will not license it, but if they settlement wants to, I think it is a fine small artisan.

New Ship Classes - The Transition
Bregir replied to Kolonialbeamter's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
So, we are landing on a class 5 if I understand you correctly? Hmm, probably like that archetype. But this is a very hypothetical question, and hard to answer without an actual example! And how would you define the stats? It could be a bulky, floating fortress with a high gun-rating, but a very low manouvreability and range, and then it could make sense. And example could be Elostirion's Cotton Lady. She isn't longer than most other class 2s, but very bulky and thus I think she is a class 3. Well, while I would agree with you that it will be hard to make anything prefab larger than the Margot seem harmonic, this is not a rule. If someone wants to experiment with a very long and sleek prefab ship (or something else), we are not holding them back. And like that it may be possible to create something interesting for class 8 or even higher. I would add that the higher classes would require some very large mocs, which should be obvious from the archetypes! Historically, there was very few of the largest ships, especially before the Napoleonic period, which seems to be the generally accepted timeframe for BoBS. So while we are not discouraging a humongous class 10 flagship, we don't want to see them by the dozen! (Well, we are not going to stop people if a high number of great looking class 10's are built! ) -
New Ship Classes - The Transition
Bregir replied to Kolonialbeamter's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Yes, you will need to relicense your ships, but the forms are not yet ready, so we ask you have a little patience You will pay the new prices for the relicensing, and the refund should make it possible to pay for it generally. Free ships are still free. They will not be refunded (as you never paid for them ), but you will have to relicense them to determine their stats. Captured ships that are not yet active (you have captured an unmoced vessel, but never started using it for the MRCA) will simply count as a license in the new rating system. (eg. a class 4A will count as any class 4 license.) If you have captured a moc'ed ship, you will still have the rights to use it. Therefore, you will have it refunded and be able to relicense it. (You could/should ask the original owner how he sees that stats) Is this for her gundeck or upper deck? (i.e. is she narrow, or is it just the upper deck due to tumblehome?). If she is rather narrow, she might be more fitting for a class 5, as it is the "total size" that should matter, not a narrowly defined length or width. However, looking at her, I would say she is closer to the class 6 archetype than the class 5. Thoughts? (I have linked all the mocs below) Class 5 archetype: Ironsides Class 6 (Both of the ships here are class 6's: Super, thanks! Thanks for the update, Maxim. Sort of reverse sistershipping, though - not sure how it makes sense IC! -
New Ship Classes - The Transition
Bregir replied to Kolonialbeamter's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
I tend to agree with you, but there are arguments for both sides, and we have discussed this quite a bit in court. You are free to chose, of course, but we will probably not change the sistershipping rules for some time now. Phred is already working on it, I believe :) (It's a big task, but I believe you will get a heads up once he has refunded yours) -
New Ship Classes - The Transition
Bregir replied to Kolonialbeamter's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
@Capt Wolf: I would like to emphasize that while the difference in classes between your ships should make sense, the adherence to the benchmark classes should always be first priority, to avoid class creep (and keep it fair for all). I have looked at them again and would suggest the following: Wolf: Class 3 (like the Lady of Madrice - she is a bit lower, but the Wolf is lighter built (and narrower, I believe)) Upon reconsideration, she should definitely be a class 3. Far Horizon could possibly be a class 5, although I would say she seems on the small side. (Compares well to the Athena, I think?) How so? Are two ships licensed on the same Moc? I need more info on this. Since you have asked me to reconsider this, I have to say it would be most equal to the archetypes and the classifications of other people's vessels if they are both classed at 4. And since that would be most fair, I think that is what we should do. They are both low, flush-decked vessels. As I said to Capt Wolf, what is important is that we always use the archetypes as reference, not other mocs, as the use of other mocs will lead to class creep. You may, of course! However, that is not what we will do. To keep the system fair for all, and the classes as correct as possible, some ships are downgraded, while others are upgraded. I am not a fan of carrying over old errors. Also, I implore all to accept the new classes and the changes they might bring. I think it is a shame if people will not accept to be treated equally because they are set on some specific class. Since our ships may be battling each other, and competing in trade, it is important that all are treated equally. @Legostone: Colour of the Wind and Green Winds both are very lightly built and have very short waterlines. The long overhanging stern on both of them makes them appear larger fromt he top, but they simply don't have the bulk to compare to the other vessels. Their displacement is quite low compared to their length. I still think the Green Winds would be most fitting as a class 4, but she *could* be a class 5. Colour of the Winds simply does not compare to the Ironsides (the archetype for class 5) so she *should* be a class 4. The Rojo Tormento is comparable to the Green Winds, so still a quite small class 5. Again - I think 4 would be more fitting. And I have to say that I am not sure why this would be a problem. As I said above, since you will be competing with others, we have to be fair and try to make the classes fit as best we can. And the benchmark is the archetypes, which is a fixed benchmark for all. Re: Dragon's Revenge Thanks - you have addressed my question about this one - I agree she should be a class 7. I have to say no. We have discussed this a lot in court, and we have found that the only way to make it fair is to make size the determining factor for class. Otherwise, we cannot avoid class creep and misuse. You should not be able to get a higher rating by for instance pushing on more guns on the same moc. In RL, that would mean worse range, manouvre, or less room for cargo, just like it will under this customizable scheme. That said, you shouldn't be punished for building low to the waterline, not using prefabs. What we are looking at is the size of the ship if it was build one prefabs (or alternatively, comparing them as if they don't have prefabs.) So, if the Titanic moc is built without prefabs, we will either imagine that with prefabs, or the archetype without prefabs, and compare them like so, not put them on an imaginary scale and weigh the amount of bricks/prefabs used. @Jacob Nion: Lady Arlene: Class 4 Destiny's Bounty (Sorry, New Allegiance ): Class 4 (You were totally ripped off by TLC!) You also have possible sisterships in the Warbringer (large class 2 I think) and Queen Annetta's Revenge (probably a class 6). Next up, I will try to class my own ships! Dum dum dum! -

@Elostirion: Holder's Secret: Class 2 Pearl Diving Canoe: Class 0 La Presto Canosa: Class 2 The Cotton Lady: She was always large for a class 2, I agree. Class 3. Colonia: Maintains class 5 Cotton Island vessel: Class 1 @kaiju: Wight Spider: Class 1 Mirthless Jest: Class 4 Lenore: Class 5 Dark Narwhal is Gedren's Moc. She seems like a class 2 to me. King Archibald is Capt. Braunsfeld's and is a clear class 3 to me. Bleak Angel: I think she is either a large class 5 or a small class 6. Up to you. -
I didn't notice this until Ayrlego pointed it out! The moc is both a good idea and a good execution. for some reason it strikes me as a bit too polished. Perhaps it is due to the render? I am not an expert here. The awning could perhaps benefit from some stripes or similar to give it a little more life. (Green and white, for instance) Altogether nice little educational property!
