Adventure MRCA form MRCA II Adventure (incl. Expeditions and Exploration) Apart from the ordinary MRCA, in which you trade, patrol the seas, or go prey on the innocent, there is an alternative, the adventure MRCA! The adventure MRCA allows you a more story driven approach, but also requires more of you in the form of builds. (You can start your first adventure with any MRCA, but once you have started the first one you can only start a new one every 3 months, but only if you do not have any running adventures for which you are lead adventurer. They will have to be ended first. You can always join others in their Adventures.) The adventure MRCA allows you to go on a personal quest, to explore the world, seek treasures, find lost civilisations, make new allies, hunt down notorious pirates, arrange expeditions to unknown lands, or whatever your heart desires! During the course of your adventure, you will be faced with a number of choices and events from the gamemasters, which will affect the outcome. Some choices will require investment of influence points or dubloons, while others will be free. Similar to the other MRCA actions, you will receive a monetary reward for your efforts, and just like the other MRCA actions, you will face risks. Just like the regular MRCA, you wil need a vessel (or troops, if it is only a land adventure. You can also combine both), and just like the regular MRCA, you will incur upkeep, and of course, you can only use your vessel(or your troops) once every MRCA (Trade or adventure, or not at all, but not for both). Also note that troops used in the MRCA must be represented in a build, just like ships. (Does not need to be the full unit.) How it works First, the organiser (lead adventurer) must create a topic for the expedition with a build to kick off the mission (all following builds related to the adventure will be posted in this thread). Second, you (as lead adventurer) set up your mission with the Adventure MRCA set up form, and sign up the vessel(s) (and troops) for the mission. (For fleets more than 5 ships, the fleet rules apply) You may also bring along money, which may help you in your endeavours. (These will be deducted from the account of the lead adventurer, who will manage the treasury and profit of the expedition.) (NB: If you are continuing an existing adventure, some of the fields need not be filled again.) Depending on the resources committed, you will face different options (and challenges), and different levels of rewards. If you send a trade ship, you will be hard-pressed if under attack, while a warship will be unable to bring back much treasure. A rowboat might get you over dangerous shoals, but a Galleon will get you far across the seas. If you do not bring along money, bribes, purchases (supplies, mercenaries, etc.) and similar will not be possible. In short, stats matter. As the MRCA is rolled, you will recieve an outcome, and typically a choice of up to 4 different options. (In certain cases, the outcome might be secret, and you will receive it in a PM with only a headline or similar.) Break off mission If you do not wish to continue the adventure, or have reached your goal, you can break off the mission. Safe choice The prudent choice. Unlikely to lead to catastrophic failure, but also unlikely to yield significant success later. Risky choice Make a bold move, take a chance. As the name suggests, this will be be risky, but the possible rewards are large too. Well-planned choice Sometimes, taking the extra effort will allow you to combine the prudence of the safe choice, with the possible rewards of the risky choice. This comes with a cost, typically represented by an outlay in PIPs, higher building effort, or similar. Before you can cash in your reward, or progress to the next turn, you must post a MRCA build in the expedition topic continuing the story of the adventure, such as the outcome of the MRCA or making one of the options. If you continue your story, gamemasters will try to play along with the story you tell with your builds. It must be clear from the build what option you select. (All participants must submit a build each turn, and may take different options, although that may lead to very different outcomes, and the expedition being broken up) All builds related to an adventure is to be posted in a topic dedicated to that adventure (the expedition topic), rather than as separate topics. This is to make it easier for the gamemasters, and to help keep the story coherent. Each (MRCA) turn, each participant must submit a build for the mission. Otherwise, the story cannot progress, and you cannot cash in your reward. Rewards will go to the organiser, who may then divy them up. (If one participant does not submit a build, his contributions will be left out) Note: If your mission is one of exploration, you will need to do at least three consecutive missions to achieve successful outcome. And in any case, your vessels will need sufficient range and time to reach new lands, if there are any in the direction you are traveling. Most of all, though. you need persistence and good fortune. ___________________________________________________ MRCA II Adventure Setup form Lead adventurer: [Enter the Eurobricks name for the lead adventurer] Example 1: "Garmadon" Example 2: "Captain Genaro" Divergence: Wide/Narrow [Decide how far from your storyline the gamemasters can go. Pick narrow if you want a more straightforward experience, where your own story will progress faster. Pick wide if you are ready for an adventure] Link to Adventure topic: [Link to relevant topic in BoBS where all builds related to the adventure is posted] Adventure Selection: [Pick whether you are starting a new adventure or continuing an existing one.] Mission name: [Enter a name for your mission] Example 1: "Altonian Envoy" Example 2: "Northern Exploration" Route: [Write a description of the route, destination, or direction of your expedition. Where will it go?] Example 1: "Sailing from Terreli to the Altonian capital" Example 2: "North from Stormhaven" Purpose: [Write a story hook for the game masters to work with] Example 1: "Going to Altonia to discuss a trade-agreement" Example 2: "Explore the waters north of Stormhaven" Vessels: Troops: Commander: [If more than 5 vessels are joining in the expedition, normal fleet rules apply and you will need a commander. Put in his name.] Adventure treasury: [The amount of dbs taken along for the expedition. Please note that these may be lost partly or completely if the expedition goes awry! ] _____________________________________________ How the court will manage it: Entries to the adventure MRCA will be available in a public link (to all court members). Each month, a team of two court members sign up (preferably in advance) to game master the adventure MRCA's. Each mission will need a set of choices (general choices, to leave creative license) along the lines detailed above. Rewards should be balanced with the normal MRCA and depend on the choices made. The risk for adventure missions should be similar to the MRCA, but if the vessel is lost, it should happen in a way that the story can progress in some way. For exploration missions, monetary rewards should be rarer, as the discovery is a reward in itself. ___________________________________________ The end Question and comments in this thread are welcome. FAQ: Can my MRCA builds be licensed? If the build qualifies, it can be used as any other build. (property, build, duel, etc.) Can Trade Companies or Factions go on or contribute to adventures? Yes, but the same rules apply that a build must be submitted for the faction or TC. I'm a little short on time but would like to continue my adventure this turn, what do I do? If you already have at least one build posted, fill out the paperwork before the deadline and mention in the MRCA deadline topic that you'll be a little late with your builds. We may refuse this extension, so if you can, ask early!

[COR-FB] Admiralty office, Arlinsport
Bregir replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Thanks, both. And I am sure if you ask Captain Dee, he will tell you that many things come in gold! Well... I think we are sort of dealing with two different ranking systems here, so they are not directly comparable. Mesabi is a count, which is a "landed" title, in that it includes title to some land. (As described by @Ayrlego) Mesabi can definitely expect to be titulated "sir" too. The Order of the Compass Rose is more akin to a military order, where you get a rank. Technically, (although perhaps unlikely? ), Count Mesabi too could become Knight of the Order, without changing his title of Count. It would simply be an additional title. Neither Sir Micah, nor Sir Allcock is gifted any land with their titles. So to say that one is above or below the other is probably a moot point. Point is, you will have to get along in the Noble Parliament, and I wouldn't try pulling rank over the "mere knights". Also note that your appointment as count was the result of Pennington's ( @Scarst) advice/manipulation/suggestion to the Queen, and as such political, while the Order of the Compass Rose is an order established for the queen to honour extraordinary efforts for the Crown. So what is most prestigious really depends on your perspective! Makes sense? And yes, nobility is largely honours in modern Corrington. Nobles aren't immune to prosecution, or otherwise hold rights not available to the general populace. And government officials are definitely above any nobleman!- 3 replies

The Empire of Corrington: Sign-up and Discussion
Bregir replied to SkaForHire's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
On behalf of her Royal Majesty, Queen Annetta, Sovereign of Corrington, Balondia, and Her Majesty's Colonies, To reward loyal citizens of Corrington for extraordinary services rendered in service of the Crown in Terra Nova, Her Royal Majesty hereby institutes the Order of the Compass Rose. Corlander cititzens of all ranks and professions can, by Royal decree, be elevated to nobility as Knight, Commander, or ultimately Grand Commander of the Order, and thus be entered into Corlander nobility and the Noble Parliament. With the establishment of this order, two prominent citizens are to be knighted. @SilentWolf: For extraordinary efforts in building up the Terra Novan Navy, Sir Micah of Wolfhaven is hereby dubbed "Knight of the Order of the Compass Rose", and henceforth commands the honours thereto connected. Her Royal Majesty particularly noticed industrious and tireless efforts as shipwright in the early days of colonial expansion, which proved invaluable in establishing naval superiority in Terra Nova. Her Majesty presents her personal congratulations to Sir Micah, and trusts that his services to the Crown will continue to bring glory to the Empire. @Ayrlego: For tireless efforts in expanding Corlander influence in Terra Nova, and for the addition of several islands to the Crown, Sir Dirk Allcock, Major in the Royal Army, is hereby dubbed "Knight of the Order of the Compass Rose", and henceforth commands the honours thereto connected. Her Royal Majesty emphasizes the addition of large landmasses in the Paradise Isles, and the efforts made to establish and expand settlements allover Terra Nova. The Crown owes much of its territorial expansion to Sir Allcock, and appreciates the peaceful way in which it was achieved. Her Majesty offers her personal regards to Sir Allcock, and hopes that he may continue to successfully serve the interest of Corrington. The Admiralty too wishes to express its gratitude to Sir Micah and Sir Allcock, and is honoured to have been allowed to bring these happy news. Sincerely, Rear-admiral S. Fletcher Terra Novan Fleet- 897 replies

A small culture build for Arlinsport: Admiralty Office -
Since the beginning of the colonial era, Arlinsport has been the seat of command for the Royal Navy operations in Terra Nova. Located in an elegant palazzo near the port, this is where the famous Corlander convoys and pirate purges have been planned. About a year ago, rear-admiral Samuel Fletcher was appointed commander of the Terra Novan operations, and has since then been in charge of all Royal Army and Royal Navy resources in the colonies. With the great success of Corlander explorers and diplomats, his responsibilities have increased with the increasing territory, and it is starting to take its toll on the rear-admiral. Thus, he has been granted leave to appoint a Royal Army counterpart to take over command of the land forces, and news have just reached him that such a man has been found. Now only the paperwork needed to be finished. That wasn't the only paperwork to get done, though. Her Royal Majesty had just issued a decree establishing a new noble order: "The Order of the Compass Rose", including stipulations that two prominent Corlander's were to be knighted for services rendered to the Crown. Certainly, such an honour would be welcomed by any Corlander, and drive others further in pursuit of similar greatness. Fletcher gave a rare, inward smile - These would be pleasant news to present. _______________________________________________________________ Just a little build (small culture) for Arlinsport to introduce rear-admiral Samual Fletcher, my leadership character, who has ever only been seen as a signature so far. Also, stay tuned on the Corrington faction thread to see who is to be knighted!

We are indeed clever. Your insinuations are still in the wrong, though. I do not know why you harbour the misunderstanding that it was an underhand attempts at increasing Corlander territory, but we invited other nations to join us in ensuring the neutrality of Malto, including Eslandola. Montoya said as much in some of the last communication before the peace talks began. And certainly it would be indefinitely. We don't make promises only to break them months later.

Lovely moc, Ayrlego - I have a feeling Major Bradley shares his sentiments with many Corlander citizens... Great looking troops - you have achieved consistency while still having individual soldiers, commanders, standard bearers, and musicians. I wouldn't know - are you? I think Bradley answered your comment already. One might be reminded that Corrington (as opposed to Eslandola...) never claimed, nor planned to claim, any territory. If your comment reflects the general Eslandian perception of the events, I must say I am impressed how you have succeeded in redefining history! Eslandola must have an effective "information" ministry...

I absolutely love the whole concept of the first build, with the testing of the rocket and the sounding of the idea to place it on ships. I sort of want to build a rocket vessel now! :D I'll agree with Ayrlego, both in that you have done well in following the established style of Port Woodhouse, and in that the house seems a bit short. It's rather nicely textured and you have really captured the dramatic, dynamic moment of firing the rocket. And I really like the simple ramp. Only comment would be to perhaps add some sort of smoke at the bottom of the exhaust trail. The little inertior is nice too, although those artillery men seem to work under rather cramped conditions! ;) And for the next time, you are more than welcome to post a build like the third one in its own thread. It is an important part of your story, and I quite like the build. You've got some interesting and well designed troops, innovative tents, and a reasonable landscape. I shall be looking forward to seeing to where Captain Fernsby will depart! ;)

Next MCRA - Infos, Dates and Maps
Bregir replied to SkaForHire's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
For the record: While we would have loved to keep the "old MRCA" running while we developed the new one, it was simply not manageable, as it required very heavy manual work, and relied heavily on a very few people (mainly Ska). Keeping it running would simply delay both itself and the development of mrca II and everything else. Back in January, we had a possible automated MRCA mechanism up and running, but some members of the court were not happy with the solution, so we kept running the old style mrca, with the regularity we could manage. We are aware that it has been delayed too many times and that you are all looking forward to seeing this a more stable part of BoBs. Hence, we are working to bring you something that does NOT rely on a few specific people, and that can be run without extensive manual input. It takes time, and as Elos said, we are only volunteers. (Although I can set up a Patreon. If you can match my current salary, I will happily devote my time to BoBs ;) :P) But we are close, and I truly believe we can publish something fabulous before the end of the month, as Capt Wolf said. Patience, padawans! ;) -
And now for something entirely different! Did you ever speculate what the true story behind the sabotage and the saboteur's escape was? Did these mysterious events have anything to do with the diplomatic incident of Nova Malto, or was it the work of a madman? Corrington's very own renegade count, Mesabi, is determined to uncover the truth! Are you the minifig he needs? Head over to the minichallenge to check it out: https://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?/forums/topic/153416-wtc-minichallenge-saboteur/

While the Department of Time generally ensures close watch of time for all citizens, some prefer having personal access to the hour of the day. Such access can be ensured by the use of a clock, but as a clock is a piece of fine machinery, it needs an expert hand to keep it running accurately. Recently, such an expert hand has arrived in King's Harbour and has set up a respectable establishment in the centre of the commercial district. On the ground floor, his wife handles the customers, both those who are looking to buy, and those who needs a mechanism serviced. And on the top floor, he services the clocks in peace and quiet in the well-lit room with his special tools and worktable. A small artisan for King's Harbour. It was fun building those clocks. C&C welcome:)

I generally use twine, about 0,5 to 1 mm in diameter, but I have also used some more elastic guy-line in the same dimensions, which was nice to work with as it gives some wonderful tension to the rig. It's a lot harder to make proper knots in, though. I have seen several people using thinner sewing thread with great success too, though, but I prefer a bulkier look. Wonderful palace Maxim. I think you have really the feel of a royal palace of the time, with all its modern elements mixed in with reminders of ages long past. All the little details and elaborate window frames and facades makes it look wonderfully baroque and its sheer size makes it a suitable residence for a Prince! I only wonder if not other Eslandians should start questioning where the ambitions of Damaximus ends, now that he is become a Prince, has solidified his relations to two royal houses, and has started building grand palaces... ;) Really cool build! Trador is certainly shaping up to be a center of great importance in the Brick Seas!

Small factories are indeed a bit hard to come up with, but I think you have found a great example of a standardised product, created by a (home-made) standardised process! I like how "dense" the build is with details, and the colours go really well together for a warm, although subdued colourscheme.

Beautiful little barracks, Ayrlego - I like how Port Woodhouse is developing into a truly military settlement. I too like the use of arches and white, yellowed white, dark tan and dark flesh goes really well together in these walls! I like your roof too (although I am not a fan of the printed tile included) and the squat little tower. The surroundings are great too, and one can't help envy you your beautiful troops!
