The newly formed Royal Pioneers were established specifically for colonial expansion and their first mission was accompanying Don Isaac Montoya of the Royal Society to Cascadia, where they helped set up Camp Isaac and joined the expedition to discover Myzectlan. Shortly after this discovery, Montoya was rushed to Isla de Medio to address a diplomatic issue in relation with Operation Pax Corlandia (much against his own will, being so engulfed in the scientific possibilities of Cascadia). The Royal Pioneers stayed behind to develop Camp Isaac and survey the island, as well as establishing roads and paths to Myzectlan. However, Montoya had not returned as expected... Pioneer 1: "Fascinating island, this is." Pioneer 2: "Indeed - it's been hard work carving out all these paths and setting up the rope-walks, but one's got to enjoy the beauty of this place." Pioneer 1: "Don Montoya seemed to enjoy it too - particularly all these wild beasts... Just look at that big black cat sneaking up on that deer..." Pioneer 2: "One wonders what's become of him. He wasn't supposed to be away so long..." Pioneer 1: "Last I heard, he was underway to meet that character... Captain Benjamin Morgan..." Pioneer 2: "Captain Morgan?!?" Pioneer 1: "Indeed... against the warnings of many - and even without a guard..." Pioneer 2: "Oh dearie me... And I had taken quite a liking to the gentleman..."

[COR - SEP FB] ETTC Vanilla Plantation, Jameston
Bregir replied to Ayrlego's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
The ETTC shall show those Eslandian upstarts that science and order beats profiteering! :D Great plantation, and lovely little shack. The greenstuff is nice, but my favourite part is how organic and real the winding little path looks. Great to see both the ETTC and Jameston growing! -
Very enjoyable and amusing read as always, Mesabi. The build is a little rough around the edges, but I like the overall composition and your ability to show each step of the story with changing minifig poses and the use of props like barrels, chests, and TNT! As to the ship, I would suggest you consider rerigging her with custom rigging. With the current placement of the mast in mind, I would suggest a sloop rig like below. If you use string for stays and shrouds, and add a spanker sail and one or more headsails, it can really make it look nice. And paper sails can work well, so you wont need a sewing machine. The hull is rather chubby, and if you can find the bricks for it, extending those hull pieces with some brick built length could allow you to build something with more natural dimensions. Just a thought. The custom cannons look rather nice - could you show a detail pic of them? I am starting to wonder, though, what sort of organisation the WTC really is - "Trade" seems taken in its most liberal sense, at least... And I wonder if not their actions will have repercussions for the relatively newly appointed count Mesabi?.. I probably wouldn't expect official Corlander support if I were you...

Your attention to continued good relations has been duly noted. If official Corrington is to take any action, feel free to lodge an official request in the proper places... We are happy to aid in any fair investigation and possible prosecution of those involved in criminal activity. -

Welcome - to finalise your sign-up, you need to show your sig fig in the brick (or LDD or similar). Many people do it with a small freebuild with an introduction story like this one, which is a good way to get started, but not a requirement. Also note that we would be happy to have you, and that noone is committed beyond time, ability and interest! I am entirely in agreement with Lord Buckethead. His excellency, Count Mesabi, is threading a fine line. Rumours has it that he has plundered an Eslandian settlement (I wonder if this will ever have IC repercussions... But apparently the Eslandian constabulary in Trador is less than efficient... ), and now he is making statements above his station. One can be made count, but one can also be stripped of all rank... Please refrain from any further "recruitment efforts" in this line, and take my advice and consider how you express yourself in BoBS in particular and in text in general. Thank you. -

What Maxim said - also, I would suggest flickr for picture hosting. It seems to be more stable than for instance brickshelf. -

We are happy to see some improvement and is intent on continued positive development. However, we are also saddened to find that you appear to subscribe to the Eslandian version of the "truth" about Operation Pax Corlandia. Should you have any misgivings about our intentions or actions, we are more than ready to discuss them in the proper forum. (Although Montoya is currently not to be found... Last seen on his way to tortuga to meet captain Benjamin Morgan... :O ) -

You would be most welcome! :) And to elaborate a bit on what Silentwolf said, the inspiration and/or time period of BoBs is the age of sail, including everything from early days of exploration in Carracks and Caravels to the warships of the early napoleonic Era. Similarly, buildings, troops and technology spans this time period. -

Ships can now travel their range plus one zones per MRCA, which also means that the minimum range stat is now 0. -

I will look into finding a better picture. I think we should also have links to the original posts, so that people can see the vessels in full. (But it all takes time... :) ) -

Citizens of Corrington in the New World. The Army Board, in conjunction with Her Majesties Government and Colonial Ministry wish to make the following announcement. The rapid expansion of the Empire in the new world has, to this date, resulted in the haphazard and piecemeal deployment of troops and army resources. To address this most un-Corlander state of affairs, the Army Board is announcing the establishment of a Colonial Headquarters, commanded by a Brigadier. This Headquarters will be tasked to coordinate, track and position army resources to best ensure the proper defense and security of Her Majesties possessions in the New World. Effective immediately Colonel Sir Andrew Howe ( @Ayrlego) is hereby promoted to the rank of Brigadier and will assume command of all land forces in the New World. Additionally, for loyal service to Her Majesty in the New World, Lieutenant Bertram Rickard Wolf ( @Brickwolf) of the Queen's Rifle Regiment is hereby promoted to the rank of Captain, and detached from regimental service to serve as Brigadier Howe's Aide de Camp, to assist him in all his duties. Brigadier Howe and Captain Wolf are required and requested to fulfill their duties in close cooperation with Rear-admiral Fletcher and the Royal Terra Novan Navy. Her Majesty and the Board have every faith in these officers and all loyal Corlander citizens are instructed to assist them in their duties. Long Live the Queen! -

@Mesabi: I am certain that after close deliberation and comparison to the archetypes, you will see that she is most similar to the current class 2 archetype. -

Corrington should like to inquire whether your diplomatic stance towards our nation is still to be considered unfriendly. It is the cause of some concern that our mutual efforts during the last Era should not have had any effect. -

I will add it to the list of non-chartered TC's. Two things are to be in place for a trade company to be chartered in COR: It has to live up to the formal requirements (HQ, warehouse, and ship); and it has to have a reasonable membershipbase. I am not sure about the formal requirements, but I am sure MaEsTrO COR only has very few members. Thanks - added! To some degree, certainly, but I also distinctively remember a very prominent MAESTRO member being very vocal in throwing around accusations about Corlanders supporting Mardier... :P MAESTRO: "It's complicated" ;) -
I think we might allow ships with a range of 0, but we will get back to you on this.

As per the rules, non-licensed bobs builds can always be licensed later (if they meet the requirements). So I would say yes - former builds can be licensed too. Will take it up in court and get back to you. -
It has been updated significantly, and will be published soon.
-
Update: Builds in the old world can now be licensed. (If they otherwise meet the requirements for licensing) They will earn 20 % less revenue, as the old world is less risky, and will not affect trade value or town banks. When licensing, simply state the country where it is located. (No city) Corrington will, goign forward, earn 10 % more on factories, and pay 10 % less for licensing them. The educational bonus was thought too narrow, and the science of Corrington presumeably spills over to more effective production. The educational bonus stays unchanged.

New Ship Classes - The Transition

A few updates: Due to concerns that the Athena and the Ironsides where too similar in size, the Asesino now takes the spot as archetype for class 4. (Stats are just suggestions) This change in the archetypes has led us to revisit a few vessels: @CelesAurivern: The Sparta is probably a small class 5. @Capt Wolf: Both the Far Horizon and the Sleeping Siren are probably most fitting as class 5s. @kaiju: The Sirrus is probably a class 4 or 5. @kabel: La Salamandra: Class 3 @Captain Green Hair: El Matador: Class 4 @Bodi: Bodi's SOTL I - Smallish class 8 Bodi's Frigate I - class 6 Bodi's Galleon - class 5 Bodi's SOTL II - looks smaller than the other one, but I think we would have to ask to confirm. Class 7? Patrol vessel - class 2 __________________________ We are currently working on the ship registry form. Should anyone have any questions, feel free to ask them here. -
