To Overseer Andrew Vimes, I thank you most heartily for your report and hope I shall be able to visit the plant in the near future. Should there be anything I can do to ensure the efficient operation of the plant, please do not hesitate to let me know. I can at the very least offer manpower from the city, and will also happily consider any issues with infrastructure to facilitate your production. As representative of the Crown I thank you for your efforts and wish you and the ETTC every fortune in your venture. At your service Captain Jno. Cooke, RN Colonial Governor Like Ayrlego, you managed to make a great build based on a simple process. Nice landscaping as always, and the palm trunks are really nice. The minifigs and posing are well-chosen, and the different barrels, sacks, etc. make the scene come alive! Well done! And for the sake of transparency for all, this will be licensed by the ETTC as a large factory, the rest of the factory collab already surpassing 10.000 studs.

Shipwrights Guild Hall (WIPs, feedback, and advice)
Bregir replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Interesting, sir - an alternative way to build the bow that I shall look forward to seeing the result of! I would suggest you take a look at some ship plans to get an idea about how the bow would be built on real ships. Here is a small set of plans, and there are plenty more out there to find, but you can probably find what you need here. http://www.ctbasses.com/misc/BruceTrinque/aubrey4.html Even when not building to specific plans, taking a look at a real ship is often a good way to find inspiration, I find. :) -
A Quick Start Guide to Brethren of the Brick Seas (BoBS)
Bregir replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
It's on our(/my) list :) We needed to get era two launched first, not to have outdated rules in this thread. That is now almost done! :) Hopefully we will be able to add it soon. :) -
Fabulous diorama, sir! I particularly like the skull, the crane, and the mesoamerican temple, but the way you have created the water desires mention too - and lots of great details! Also, who doesn't like to see bluecoats bashed? *cough cough* Oleon *cough cough*

Brethren of the Brick Seas (BoBS) Intro Thread, Era II
Bregir replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
This. But yes, I believe the sea rats are a great bunch (not wonderfully orderly like us, of course! Some might even call them anarchists!), but fairly limited in number. -
[COR-FB] Spud's Reintroduction!
Bregir replied to Spud The Viking's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Welcome (back) Spud! Will be looking forward to having you on board and seeing what adventures you will be up to (and to get a closer look at your sig fig). Nice build, BTW. Looks rather palatial to me - you must be of good family! :) -
The Empire of Corrington: Sign-up and Discussion
Bregir replied to SkaForHire's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
@Drunknok: Welcome to BoBs, sir - don't be too daunted by the rules - your future countrymen will surely help you. As to choice of story, I would say it sounds very appropriate - as to Corrington vs. Sea Rats, that is a choice between order and chaos. In Corrington, we prefer people to abide the law and follow her majesty's directions, while in the Sea Rats, its typically every man for himself. And it is true that if you want to use a ship in the game, it should preferably be a moc, or at least a heavily modded set. :) And lastly, the thread you are really looking for is this one: Corrington has been updated a bit for Era II, which we are just about to kick off. :)- 897 replies

The mystery has been solved by the renowned Herlock Sholmes!

The mysteries connected to the Malto affair had roused many a detective in Terra Nova, and amongst those the renowned Corlander investigator, Herlock Sholmes and his assistant Dr. John Hudson. This had led to a month of investigations and they were now discussing their findings in the office in Miller Street 2b, Arlinsport "First things first, Sholmes. The very heart of the mystery - the explosion." Dr. Hudson said. "I find myself stumped - who would do such a heinous thing?" "Elementary, my dear Hudson. Do you remember what the informant in Fuerte Unido told us?" "Of course - a group of merchants had met with a... contractor believed to be the saboteur... But he could not tell us of what they had spoken." Hudson exclaimed with a raised brow. "But what motive would those traders have? To stifle a competitor?" "Ach, the WTC hardly represents a threat to the Eslandian TC's." Sholmes interjected. "Remember the Eslandian reaction: It was the perfect excuse for them to send in troops." "Are you suggesting that Eslandola would cause such a tragedy for mere geopolitical gain?" Hudson protested. "It was most convienient, was it not? But no, there is no evidence whatsoever for an official act of subterfuge." Sholmes said, shaking his head. "But consider the nationalist zealotry of ambitious individuals, who understood enough to know that the official response would be to march in troops." "But they would surely have predicted that Bradley's troops would deny them access? I must confess that I am most sceptical, Herlock." "It is the only explanation that fits the evidence, dr. Hudson, and when you have excluded the impossible, what is left, however implausible, must be the truth!" He said with great conviction. "As to Bradley's reaction, the Eslandians are a sadly pragmatical bunch, very unaccustomed to the firmness of principle typical for Corlanders. I doubt they ever anticipated the insistence of our troops." "So Eslandians blew up the Wolf's Blood?" "It must be so." Hudson pondered for a moment, turning over the evidence in his head. It would seem that no other chain of event would explain the meeting between the saboteur and the Eslandian merchants. And who else had a motive for the explosion? It really was all too convenient for the Eslandians... Looking back at Sholmes, Hudson said triumphantly: "But why should the Eslandians knock Lorenzini on the head and prevent his escape? Haha!" "Well, to ensure his prosecution, surely." Sholmes retorted dryly, taking down Hudson's mood significantly. "However, nothing points to that - as you may remember, they aided his escape. In fact, we know very well they were not behind the assault!" "But..." "May I remind you of our findings in Arlinsport?" "Yeeeeeesssss?..." The doctor said, recollecting himself. "The drunken guard, you mean?" "The drunken guard who told us of Pennington's agent indeed! Recount, please." "I must have forgotten. An agent purportedly in Viscount Pennington's service is to have met with a mercenary." Hudson remembered. "A mercenary which was to go to Malto to thwart Consul Montoya's efforts with any means possible, I believe." "Indeed - and what better way than to assault Lorenzini, the uniting figure of the populace? It could easily have led to unrest, and discontent with the negotiations, undermining Montoya. And further, it was likely to lead to Lorenzini being incarcerated and prosecuted by the Eslandians, another stain on Montoya's name. And all this while appointing Captain Mesabi, a known thorn in the side of the Consul, count." Hudson frowned once more, rubbing his forehead. This was more complex than he cared for. "But what about the group of Priests and Monks we found to have been conspiring in Breshaun...It was my theory that they were hiring a saboteur?" "Our sources could never confirm any of this, you might remember." Sholmes interjected. "But consider the escape and capture of the Lorenzini impersonator. Does it not strike you as rather remarkable how swiftly the impersonator was apprehended? There is no concievable way the Consul's letter could possibly have reached Oleander authorities in time of the capture..." "However, as you may remember, he WAS captured!" "So he was - it was almost as if it was planned in advance..." "Now, Sholmes... You are certainly contradicting yourself..." "Imagine this: The Order of the Faith, or elements within, wishes to confound and confuse Corlander and Eslandian relations. Afterall, Corrington and Eslandola at conflict, perhaps even war, might be construed as advantageous to Olean interests." Sholmes explained. "Giving the impression of 'rescueing' Lorenzini and then having him 'disappear', while in fact abducting and torturing him for information about Corlander plans and strategies, would serve that purpose wonderfully." "Another case of convenient coincidence, perhaps?" "Convenient coincidence, indeed, Hudson, particularly when the Consul's letter arrived. Certainly, as it arrived they already knew that the man was not Lorenzini, having tortured him. But now they had an excuse and could publicly admit to having captured the man." "But who was he, then?" "We cannot know. But they claim he has admitted to be the saboteur, which is by no means implausible." "You have got me quite confounded, Sholmes. Care to explain again?" "Certainly. Eslandian merchants arranged the explosion on the Wolf's Blood to give Eslandian troops an excuse to enter the city. Shortly afterwards, Viscount Pennington's agent attacked Lorenzini, and appointed Mesabi Count, to sabotage Consul Montoya's efforts and sow discontent in the city. And then, the Order of the Faith lifted a man thought to be Lorenzini off the island, tortured him, and used the Consul's letter as a convenient explanation for their torture." "And you are quite certain this is what transpired?" Hudson asked sceptically. "Elementary, my dear Hudson. There is no other possibly explanation." "Although unlikely..." "When you have excluded the impossible, what ever is left, no matter how...." Sholmes said, before being interrupted by Hudson finishing the sentence in a slightly irritated tone: "...no matter how implausible, must be the truth... I know, I know!" __________________________________________________ Ended up being longer than I had planned, but it was fun to build - sorry for the wall of text - C&C is, as always welcome. :) I would like to donate the Temple build (a small cultural, Breshaun) to the Order of the Faith ( @Phred?), while the Arlinsport city gate will be licensed by Arlinsport.

All Lego shots simply have something special over them! The throne turned out beautifully, and the columns are really well textured. In the end, I think I like the single coloured floor you went for. I find it fascinating that the High Priestess appears to have a pet-panther, and generally like the story as well. Allcock's decision to appoint Dr. Brickingstone official representative is probably a wise choice too, and I shall be looking forward to the amazon Allcocks has added to his retinue!

Nice take on the ropewalk, Mesabi, and fairly good landscaping with your limited available bricks. As always, I enjoy your stories and how you pose your figures to illustrate them. I do, however, fear that he has been duped by someone - The Royal Society has never levied nor recieved any fees from Count Mesabi... ;)

Royal Society of Natural Philosophy - General Discussion
Bregir replied to Ayrlego's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
To Count @Mesabi, Regarding your latest communication. Having reviewed your scientific work and found it entirely lacking, and noted several instances of conduct unbecoming of a gentleman of the Royal Society, the Executive Committee has decided against taking further action in relation to your "request". Further, the Committee wishes to point out that it is absolutely unheard of to request membership, as if the Royal Society was a mere coffee house, not an exclusive union for the greatest minds of the known world! Membership of the Royal Society is not about prestige, but about science, and membership is an honour bestowed upon merit. Members of the Society are widely allowed to travel freely across borders, regardsless of diplomacy or politics, to pursue scientific discovery, and as such its members' honesty and good conduct must be beyond question. Sincerely Sir Anton Hughes, RS On behalf of the Executive committee OCC: I very much doubt Count Mesabi himself and his questionable morals would ever be invited to the Royal Society, but should one of your other characters pursue a scientific career, it may in time lead to an invitation. Young Darby could perhaps be an example - he seems to have better ethics... But still, membership happens by invitation - and one does not ask for an invitation We will keep an eye out for scientists, and a discreet hint in a pm might help, but a public request? What insolence!- 42 replies

[WTC minichallenge 1] Shadows on the Crown
Bregir replied to Keymonus's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
The vignettes are really well made and I like how you have posed the characters to tell the story. Most of all, though, I am looking forward to seeing where this goes! I wonder if Varcoast will blow up in revolution and civil war! -

Brethren of the Brick Seas (BoBS) Intro Thread, Era II
Bregir replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
It can and it will - the whole index beckons a clean up, and it is on our list. :) -
I am thinking posting the builds in the same thread, similar to the Malto Peace talks. That way, the gamemasters only have to read up on one thread each month, and it is easy to go back and see what happened preceeding months Running the adventure MRCA will take some resources, so we need to make it as streamlined as possible for the sake of the gamemasters. So basicly, you submit the same link each month. Of course, there may be cases where the expedition build is part of something larger. That "larger" build can then be posted separately too, but it shouldn't normally be necessary.
-
A small rule update now clearly states that: The lead adventurer signs up all assets to the mission All builds must be posted in a topic dedicated to the expedition (the aptly named "Expedition Topic") rather than in their own thread. This will make it easier for the gamemasters and keep the story collected in each place. (C&C to builds and stories will still be posted in the same thread.) Aaaand, to the best of my knowledge, the adventure MRCA is now ready for launch :) So expect the trade MRCA to be so too soon(tm) - which means a MRCA deadline will be coming to a pirate ship near you shortly!
-
As simple as that, really - just describe in a few words where you are going. Remember, though, that the adventure MRCA requires builds as detailed in the rules, but I would expect the rewards to reflect that... ;) You can send out multiple vessels in the same mission, without requiring additional builds. The alternative for the small boats would be short range trading, if you don't have the time for the builds, but that wont be nearly as interesting, I suspect :)

[WIP] Myzec Throne Room - WIP/Build Log
Bregir replied to Ayrlego's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Great idea, Ayrlego. And I am liking that photo, although I don't dare think what you have found on the Web searching for native Queen in throne room... :P The flooring is looking nice, and I quite like the dark tan, although the green shades might look even better. The columns are looking nice too. For the round parts of the throne, how about some snot work? I am thinking about the large curved pieces (a bent brick, the whole quarter curve measuring 4x4, I thibk) that I would call "well-pieces". I could see them raised up behind her with some golden 1x1 round tiles or rings for ornaments. Might be too large, though. Looking forward to seeing where you will be going with this! -
Thanks for your input. We still have a slight issue with the troop identification, but the current model should work. @Capt Wolf: To start an adventure, you need to submit a build. The topic of that build will contain all following builds for that adventure. So the topic should already be posted when you sign up. (We changed the rules a bit so that a build was required for kicking off the mission too, which may have lead to some confusion? :) )
-
Just by the lead adventurer. Each adventure will get an outcome. Sometimes different participants may face different choices, but as a general rule, I expect the expedition to face its challenge as a unit. Each of you will still have to contribute a build, to progress the story, but how you do it (your options are good examples) is up to you. It is a very free form adventure. Lets say Maxim and you sail together south, but after the first month, Maxim has met his goal, but you will go on. Then one of you (the lead adventurer) will continue the adventure with his ships, while the other will set up a new adventure starting from there. I hope this helps - also, please keep in mind that this is (almost) as new to us as it is to you guys - and my answers here are somewhat preliminary! ;)
-
Dear all, Can I ask you to try filling out the new adventure form and give any feedback or questions you may have here? Help much appreciated! Note: Please fill in "Test" under "mission name". Form Adventure rules Thank you in advance. /Bregir
