  1. "Nothing is true, everything is permitted..." From my lands on the border of Kaliphlin, I shall be following these developments closely, before declaring for any of the sides in this matter. While he promises peace, I fear power over Kaliphlin will corrupt the Sand King, and doubt the true motives of the Ulandians, although they have shown signs of good faith. And what are their plans for the rest of Historica? One wonder what alternatives there will be... Perhaps the lesser of two evils will be a necessary choice... OOC: This story and these builds - I very much appreciate the effort put into this, and I am very pleased with the output sofar, both in terms of storyline and builds. Can't wait to see more!
  2. This is definitely one of the best lego dragons I have ever seen - And I have got to say I love the coloourscheme. The mythology behind is also nice - Reminds me of the danish myth about Holger Danske, who will also rise when the country need him
  3. Thanks! The ships and the hull have all been built for a long time, just awaiting a setting to put them into! Thank you, LJ! I agree about the water, but must admit that was a compromise I made with myself. Was a big build to have standing on my desk, and it had been standing there for a long time! Thanks - a lot of people seem to like it I wonder how a finished ship built with this technique would work... Thanks LV - this is were the long needed shipments of weapons from Shadowmere are shipped into the Trifork - If you are lucky, one day payment will be shipped the other way! Thank you, ElCrab. Actually, those heads are grey, but still, thanks - was a touch of inspiration I see what you mean, and it *could* fit in there, but I think it fits in fine here too. Glad you like it, CH. The water's plainess was a compromise, I admit, but I too like both buildings. I see your point about the warehouse - but with 4 floors, I think it is ok, considering that only transit goods are stored here. (I am not making excuses, not at all... ) Thanks, Jakorin! Thanks - after seeing rogueang, Maxim and kabel's ports (amongst others) I got inspired. Although I can only dream of reaching their level! And, seeing that the Trifork is a river trading town, I sort of have to build a port Thanks, bluefiji - had originally built a sail for that ship, but that didn't work as I wanted it to be docked. Thanks, chief! Your own port was quite an inspiration, especially in terms of depicting life on the quay's. I would say great is an overstatement, but thanks anyway - you are an expert yourself, as one of your latest builds revealed!! Glad you like the life - was one of my focus points! Thanks, Lord Dan. I agree - should have detailed both water and quay a bit more. With a big build, I often end up foregoing the details... Thanks, Maxim - you are an expert in port building yourself! And yes, a spell of inspiration and motivation coupled with available time does a lot for the progress!
  4. Thank you, all - glad you like - I even think the photos turned out reasonably well on this one! Well, not ALL Avalonian youths are hippies! Thanks, LJ - I think they turned out well - actually had the idea to use those "balcony-pieces" with the domes for a long time! And the small, open back style allowed me to give some attention to furnishing it, which I often forego on larger builds. Thanks, Cpt. B. No, the door doesn't open - it is just wedged in between the doorposts and isn't fixed with anything but friction. Thanks, Lord Dan. I am glad to hear it actually looks like a hotel with a medieval touch! The crown will happily accept your reservation any time, blufiji! Thanks, Kai - as said above, the open back allowed me some focus on the interior - glad you liked the result! Thanks! I like the colour combination too - glad I invested in an extra modular firebrigade for those dark red bricks! And I would say you are an expert in making alternative colours work yourself! I think they look absolutely wonderful too, ME. However, come to think of it, I was actually planning on making some "curtains" so that the balconies could be closed off for the night... Hopefully the nights aren't too cold in the Trifork!
  5. *hugs a tree* Hippies? Who? No hippies here! No worries - Sir Beorthan is keeping an eye on the buildsite for the consulate and trade post, and will be looking forward to its completion.(Whenever you have the timetm)
  6. Looking again, I see Goliath's point. It does seem somewhat off balance. However, I wonder if it might be fixed by simply raising the gable (walls at the end of the roof?) by a few plate heights, so that the gable is higher than the roof by some margin? //Beorthan
  7. What a fabulous setup. It looks even better all together! :) I really like how you are incorporating the overall story and imposing the troubles of the current situation on your own city! IC: It seems many are seeking alliances these days, and I wonder if your messengers will pass through the Trifork on their way to Albion...
  8. The Barqa style you have developed is great, Gideon, and this build fits right in. Further, I love how the story is progressing, and can't wait to see what the challenge will be! It seems to me the preludes cover quite a bit of time, so at least one harvest season is probably timecompressed into the prelude to the challenge. And one season of bad harvest is sure to have emptied many granaries in less well-supplied towns, I should think. And without bread, no games will be enough to appease the populace! (No matter how much wealth you may have... ) "Panem et circenses"
  9. The oldest inn in the Trifork, The crown was build for the King's messengers passing through on their way to Albion. Located in one of the nicest neighbourhoods of the Trifork, you often see the posher youths meeting nearby. While the rooms are small, the beds are comfortable, and the inn offers a measure of luxury with a large spa on the roof. Just a small build for the HSS task. Hope you enjoy it - was a fun build.
  10. Hehe, interesting turn ;) Can't wait to see the challenge! This weekend has brought many great chapters!
  11. Looking good, Lord Robin! Looking forward to seeing more!
  12. Welcome amongst our ranks - now more than ever, we are in need of all the bannermen we can muster! EDIT: New freebuild up: The Crown Inn
  13. I stand with Lord Dan here! We shall not take your petty accusations lightly! OOC: What a great build, and a wonderful story! Can't wait to get cracking on the challenge!
  14. The colour palette is stunning, and I really like the fissures in the rockwork. I think it makes it look very real!
  15. I love the story, and think your microbuild turned out well! With all those fabulous maps, I am wondering if someone would one day collate all the maps to have a proper map of the whole of Historica. As a border town of Avalonia, I am really in doubt as to what I am actually bordering up to! It can be a litte hard to see the big picture!
  16. Looks great - and I will have to mirror the others in saying that those snowdrifts are looking fantabulous!
  17. Overall great build, but I particularly like the destroyed cart dragged after the horse! I think your tudorstyle turned out well too!
  18. Never trust those sandsnakes I say! Your intrusion shall not be forgotten!! On a different note: 2 freebuilds I forgot to post here: The Trifork River Port Ramparts of New Town Brick on!

  20. Thanks all - glad you like it. I have noted your thoughts on the colours. It was fun writing up a small story placing this build in the ongoing events - and I am happy to hear you appreciate it! As I have said before, I really enjoy the intertwined storylines of Historica, and hope we will see more of this in the future. Thank you - your collab has been a great inspiration towards this. I had the same thoughts on the cones, but figured that after a very short time, the logs would have the same colour all over. It would only be lighter in a short period after being sharpened. Thanks - and agreed. There has been some losses underway, but most seem to make it. The weapon shipments are really shoring up the militia of the Trifork - Beorthan and the council hopes the Nocturnian Resistance is also prospering from the payments coming your way! Glad you noticed it - that was in fact the general idea of the build. I am afraid I can't really hide behind a limited assortment of bricks in this regard However, the browns were meant to represent dirt, but I see how the colours are a bit muddled and confusing.
  21. The Trifork, located at the junction of several busy waterways, has long prospered from the trade of goods flowing up and down the rivers. One of the first stone structures to be raised, the main quay has long allowed ships of all sizes to dock and exchange goods and passengers. (HSS Nautical: Harbourmasters office and lighthouse & HSS Labourer: Warehouse) All harbour administration, as well as collection of tolls and dues, is handled by the harbourmaster. The stately sandstone building overlooks the port area and commands the only entrance to the quay. Due to frequent fogs on the Trifork lake, a lighthouse has been erected in connection with the harbourmasters office to lead ships safely to the port. Next to the harbourmaster, the busiest warehouse of the Trifork is located, holding most of the transit goods passing through the port. Goods intended for the city itself is normally shipped directly to merchants and warehouses in the city, but those goods waiting to be loaded onto another ship is kept safe in this warehouse. (HSS Nautical: Shipyard) Next to the quay, the local shipyard is placed. Its experienced shipwrights are renowned for their swift and manoeuvrable river crafts. Due to popular demand, the slipway is rarely empty, and many of the ships navigating the Avalonian rivers was built here. In times of war, fast and agile warships can be lauched at an impressive pace, given the proper ressources are available. (HSS Nautical: Quay and Cranes) The quay is rarely empty, and right now the Swiftsure patrol craft is being outfitted for another patrol, a merchants ship is being unloaded, and a small traders boat is docking. At times, the port is so busy that several ships que up awaiting docking space. The port is one of the key elements in the city's prosperity, and the council goes great lengths to protect its interests on the Trifork lake, as well as up and down the rivers. In the recent turmoil, rivertrade has gone up, as merchants are less vulnerable on the rivers than on the roads. Further, the river port is a great asset in times of siege, where supplies can be brought in under the nose of the besiegers. ________________________________________________________________________________ Additional photos: __________________________________________________________________________________________ A note to the photos: I found it really hard to photograph such a large build. And since photographing isn't my strongest point, the size didn't help me out. Tips are welcome, and I hope you can see past the questionable quality of the photos! Comments and criticism welcome
  22. I hope the health of your little ones will soon be restored, fellow Avalonians. My spies and contacts in the south has heard rumours of the Kaliphlinites expanding the influence over the Island of Easterbroke!!! Can we let this pass unnoticed or should we move to protect the interests of the Avalonians living there? (EDIT: I have a few builds underway, including a rather large one only waiting to be posted, so it isn't completely quiet here!)
  23. Normaily, you should stay in the same guild throughout a book, (We are currently 2/3rds through book 2) but when a new book starts, you can change. However, you are free to build in the other guilds too. Some tasks are limited to specific guilds, eg. the Age of Mitgardia ongoing minichallenge for (Yes, you've guessed right) Mitgardians. I hope that helps - my suggestion is that you find the one that suits you best, sign up, and start building. I will be looking forward to seeing what you bring to Historica! Obviously, I would suggest joining Avalonia, as that is by far the bestest guild with the greatest members! Plus, we hug trees and wear lovely green tights!
  24. 7 goods days (of fishing) followed by 7 bad years (of frozen beyonders?). Can't wait to see more!
