  1. Nice looking (series of) war schooners, Kwatchi. I like the long sleek look, and it certainly looks like the perfect vessel for a privateer or pirate. The bow is looking really nice, especially the headrails, and I like the use of the old style windows for the stern cabin. A few pointers for the rigigng. It is looking really nice, and I like the cloth sails. I would bring down the booms to about the height of a minifig. Also, the lowest headsail shouldn't have a boom (the one going forward from the foremast). Instead, it should be hanging on the lower stay similar to how the other headsails are mounted. Those details aside, a very nice ship, and a great idea to have the sisterships ready in case of need!
  2. Interesting mythical build, Kaiju! It's nice to see this aspect presented a bit more!
  3. Nice looking sloop with an interesting colourscheme! As to the rigging debate, I'd add that the headsail will be attached to the stay, but stowed along the bowsprit. (All the loops that hold the sail to the stay will be run down to the bottom of the stay.) Also, when the mainsail is not set, the gaff would be lowered down as in Phred's picture. Well done, regardless of the rigging nerdisms!
  4. Nice landscaping and vegetation, KB. My favourite part is those chains with which you struggled so! Worth it, I'd say!
  5. Nice looking mine, BD. It's a very nice use of Burps, and I particularly like the entrance.
  6. A small freebuild for the vicinity of Fuerte Unido:
  7. Each morning, Don Isaac Montoya wanders to the shore of Isla de Medio to look out for ships carrying the Corlander standard, before returning to the field hospital to care for the wounded of the Eslandola-Mardier conflict. He is longing to leave the conflict behind, and with the hospital now up and running, he is ready to move on towards new horizons. Having received word from his friend and fellow of the Royal Society, Dirk Allcock, of a planned expedition to explore Cascadia and Celestia in the Prio Seas rumoured to be a treasure trove of scientific discovery, Montoya is looking to leave the tragedy and tedium behind and again engulf in the pursuit of science.
  8. To me, BoBS is supposed to represent early colonial development, not a fully fledged, developed set of colonial nations. West of Terraversa is where you go, should you be looking for developed land. If anything, I would rather have native settlements to be discovered. I want BoBS to be open for exploration of unknown territories. Not to settle them, as much as for quartermainian expeditions into unknown territories. But we will soon(tm) introduce a quest system, so by all means, kick off an expedition into the unknown! Or as KB said, go start a Squatter settlement. You Greenies seem to have a knack for that already! ;)
  9. Garm, You only have three ships in total, then? I am asking because the 3+ extra costs could be the reason for the difference, as you would always have to pay that, no matter how you procured the ship. :)
  10. Uh, competition! Not really the favorite dish for you mercantilist opportunists, is it? :D Hit me with some interest rates, and the Montoya Estate will decide on where to make what deposits! ;)
  11. And republicans too! Nothing good can come of this, I assure you!
  12. I hope they will (IC, that is) - as Kwatchi said, it is nice to actually see some royalists stand up to those vile republicans! But if they reproach you OOC, bring them to stockade to be barraged with rotten fruits! (Also, the people of Corrington is represented in our parliament, so don't go around claiming to have invented the wheel... Pff, pretentious profiteers!
  13. Giving out these micro-build licenses as prizes is one of the best ideas ever! Great work, guys. I like what I see all around. Also, I should add that the ship licenses are a one time thing. When the ship is lost, the license is too, so a sistership would have to be licensed under normal terms, and the Naval Courts will ahve to accept the accompanying moc, since it is not a full ship moc, but a microbuild. We are pretty flexible, though!
  14. Hey man, be nice to the new members!
  15. Fractional gun-port sizes? Here you go: It's not that hard to build, but structural integrity does suffer somewhat, as the number of studs connection the sides to the decks decrease considerately, especially with 4 studs between gun ports. This 18 gun ship-sloop is based loosely on "Blaa Heyren" although this does not include the considerable tumblehome. One day, I will have to figure out how to make that double-curve in a sturdy and realistic way, but for now, I will stick to a more conservative design. C&C welcome. @cb4: I agree about the curves on my yacht. I looked quite closely on your frigate, but must admit that I find those curves hard to match, especially on this small scale. I might revisit the hull before putting sails on her and finishing her, but I can't make any promises. Time is limited, and the projects plentiful. Also, Corrington must at least TRY to meet the productive shipyards of the blue and green persuasion! @Captain Genaro: I am liking the lines of that hull. When can we expect to see more or her? Also, have you entirely emptied the market of hinge plates? On my ship-sloop I found that I need an insane amount to get anything like structural integrity. (And could definitely use more, if I had them...) @kurigan: That little schooner has some really nice line, including the raked masts. Would love to see it in the brick, although I am not sure I am myself ready to try it on. Might do it anyway, though!
  16. Welcome to the Brick Seas, Mr. Price. One wonders how he will manage the bustle of New Terra, after so long living sheltered in Eslandola! Looking forward to following his story - and really nice looking sig-fig - very Eslandian!
  17. Great looking agricultural build, Ayrlego! I like the inclusion of a different culture of agriculture, and your depiction is really nice. I love the minifigs and their implements, including the stick with buckets, the baby, the HATS, and the plow. The plants and the walls are great too. My only wonder is, wouldn't it be smarter to flood it from the bottom up? Seems like it would be hard to avoid the lower levels flooding when the upper ones are.
  18. Great looking two-topsail schooner, LS. I like the shape off her hull, especially around the bows. The rigging is really well done too, although I again miss sheets for the sails! The colour of the sails go well with the hull colours. I would suggest you add a dolphin striker and its accompanying stays to counter the forces bending your jib-boom. Details like the capstan, boat and hatch on deck finish her off nicely, and I don't mind the non-tiled decks. (Especially not after trying to pose minifigs on a tiled one... ) A agree about those lower slopes on her transom - looks like an unfinished skull or something along those lines. All in all, nice schooner.
  19. Nice little vessel! I like details like the trysail mast and the parts usage around the bow. Well done!
  20. Nice little boathouse, seigneur d'Offren! It is a simple idea, and a simple, but elegant execution. If you hadn't mentioned the pictures, I doubt anyone would have noticed. As to bad weather... You live in Greece, man... Up here, between October and May, "good" weather for photography a distant memory of that short, warm(-ish) summer! I too would suggest adding some more landscaping around the building. Perhaps show a snip of water, and a bit of vegetation to indicate that it is indeed on the beach? Nonetheless, all the best wishes for the RNTC. May it prosper in peace.
  21. This might be useful: http://fantasynamegenerators.com/english_names.php There are name generators for all sorts of countries and settings, so browse around a bit and see if you find anything you like. :)
  22. Congratulations for Hugo d'Offren's recent knighting! Good to see the system of nobility already implemented!
  23. All three are great ships, KB. All of them have great colourschemes, and one can only envy the scale LDD allows you to work in! I would love to someday see one of these ships in the brick, and with an elaborate custom rigging. Any plans in that direction? I am, of course, also wondering whether your techniques are strong enough for a "real" moc to be somewhat swooshable. All in all great work - although the Admiralty is concerned with the output of Olean and Eslandian shipyards lately... A few comments on the individual ships: The brig I am loving its clean lines, and the simple colour-scheme. Typically, brigs would not have a quarterdeck, but it was not unheard of. You have managed to include it in an elegant fashion, though. The rigging is great, although I would suggest adding a course to the mainmast, in front of the gaff sail. I like the "hammock netting" made by fences! The corvette Probably my favourite if the three, being a very elegant ship of a type we haven't seen much off. Elegant lines on a full rigged, light ship is just beautiful. She needs another yard below her mizzen topsail, though, otherwise it can never be set right! I am loving the stern davits and the boat hanging there. The frigate A natural progression on the corvette, and while heavier, she is still almost as elegant as the corvette. As a modern frigate of 38 guns, she would most definitely carry a topgallant mast on the mizzen, as you have her. All in all great vessels, with lots of great details (like the small booms for those extra sails on the side of the normal sails, which name in English currently eludes me....) and nice proportions for the rigs and hulls both. Are you working from plans, or where do you get your inspiration from?
  24. Now, well, good sirs, that is quite a handsome reward! May even entice captain Morgan himself to turn over ships and himself, for such a fortune! ;)
  25. Those ship licenses should be entirely without charge, as per the challenge. Afaik it doesn't count towards your ship count either.
