  1. As you seem to be going a less puristic way with your bricks, maybe Altbricks stems are worth considering sometime? Although I think their shape is not as good looking... Thanks!
  2. Thanks! I'm growing more and more fond of the dark orange color as ground, especially for the reddish soil which seems to be common in tropical/subtropical climate. The brown grass was a "now or never" deal when I found them on BL for €0.95 a piece, as they've only been in one set they are quite rare and increasingly expensive... I'm trying to use them as much as I can
  3. Two small freebuilds from some experiments which turned out good enough to merit a small build each. So happy to be back building again!
  4. A Kaliphlin merchant with a couple of his camels on a dusty road. The merchant selling the goods at a market. Two small freebuilds to do something else than my Barqa project for LFW, which I'm quite fed up with at the moment. The first build was mostly an experiment with the landscaping colors and with the camel loads, and the second build originated in an experiment with the canopy design.
  5. Excellent creature! I had hoped that you would make an entry My favorite part is the head and the whole front section of the creature. The top notch background is also giving it a very suitable setting.
  6. That sounds like a good rule, I agree that there is too much discussion and too few builds in this thread at the moment Specific discussions with a lot of posts are maybe better to keep in their own forum or PM threads. From my side it's been fueled by having a lot of time but not present at my bricks, so I've spent way too much time on the forum the past weeks. Now when I'm back with my bricks I'm putting more time into building and less into reading the forum every half-hour Hopefully this was my last discussion post of today, my next post will hopefully be two small freebuilds I'm off to photograph now!
  7. Very nice shape of the tower and good job with the landscaping! The colors of the tower are a bit too "striped" in my opinion, using some light bley round bricks and some dark bley 1x2 bricks would have made the round brick diagonals less apparent.
  8. Very good job making it "solid"! A lot of brickbuilt creatures tend to have gaps in the joints... Good also that you photographed it from several angles, it was a bit hard to see the shape in the first pic.
  9. UoP +1
  10. Nice progression, my favorite part in this build is the axe rack Looking forward to phase 3!
  11. Excellent round tower and fig combinations! A thought on "tall dwarfs" is that minifigs might really have the proportions which are perfect for dwarfs, it might be their use of representing humans which is flawed? (if you look at arm/leg lengths)
  12. Impressive teaser, looking forward to seeing the rest!
  13. Impressive beast! The wings look very nice and I like the end of the tail. I agree with SK however that a thicker tail (especially closer to the body) might have looked more natural.
  14. Good job with the fig posing! I like the middle photo.
  15. Excellent creature! You have done a great job making the proportions of the wolf just right. I love the tail and the ears!
  16. Excellent build, I especially like the small things outside like the sheep and the area around the firewood storage. And the roofs look great While the interior is good, I can't help to think that it is a tad to much reddish brown. Maybe a gray stone floor on the bottom floor would have worked?
  17. UoP +1 for the interesting creature design
  18. Very impressive build! The milling business must indeed be very prosperous when they can afford such a beautiful building Some very interesting parts uses here, good job. One thing puzzles me however, all windmills I've seen can turn the axis of the wings to adapt to the wind direction. How do they do it here?
  19. Lovely build, it really gives me a feeling of a shelter used during summer grazing in the mountains. The palisade looks great and the sheep are just perfect!
  20. Impressive! Other than the excellent figs, the carpet is what really caught my eyes Looking forward to seeing more of Lord Mortis!
  21. Truly! Scrolling through this thread is really impressive
  22. Maybe it varies from different regions? Home shrines sound like something many devout followers everywhere probably have. In an ancient stronghold like Barqa the Order however must have followers which have grown up in families who has been believers for generations. In these areas, it sounds reasonable to me to have more established places for regular worship. This in turn does not at all contradict the existence of more important sites, for example a temple holding an important relic or where some exclusive rituals are performed, which people may travel far to visit. (I'm thinking a bit of Judaism prior to the destruction of the temple in Jerusalem, when cities had their synagogues for weekly worship but sacrifices were made only in the temple, or important pilgrim cathedrals holding relics in medieval Europe).
  23. Very nice minifig combo, and great job with the vegetation as well
  24. We definitely don't hear such things often enough in GoH!
  25. Wonderful build! UoP +1 for the claims.
